Seems decent quality, mine arrived with some issues
Blade was disconnected from the rest of the plane and marred various parts and dulled itself in transit. Blade still had the grinding burr on it (that might be normal). Back handle was loose and couldn't be secured until excess polyurethane was removed from the base of the handle. Small amounts of surface rust on most of the steel parts, save the blade (there wasn't really any oil to prevent rust, frankly impressive it didn't rust more). Nothing that was a deal-breaker, but required an hour of work before it was functional. All that said, seems like a solid tool.

Decent price for a decent product
Pretty nice for the price. Adjustable frog. Cap lever isn’t the one in the pic. The one I got has a screw. Sole was fairly flat. Blade as well. This one is much better than the others in this price range that I’ve tried.

Poor shipping packaging
The Amazon shipping box was in good condition upon arrival but once aging they only used a crumbled up piece of paper to pack it so the shop fox box was beat up from being able to move freely in the Amazon box. Luckily the planer was undamaged I haven't got to use it much yet but what little I have it works great and moves and cuts smooth and the blade is very sharp. The only issue with the planer was the rear handle was really loose but I was able to fix it easily by tightening two screws. It's a sharpe solid hand plane once everything is tightened up.

Poor quality. Don't waste your money.
Plane arrived in a sealed plastic bag with desiccate gel pouch. However, there was much rust and corrosion. The frog bedding face and iron bedding surface were very rusty as was the frog adjustment surface. The iron was disassembled, cleaned and refurbished. Critical parts with mating features were either not machined or very poorly machined. These included the frog adjustment surface, the plane sole, the plane iron, the chip breaker, and the plane sides. It appeared as though the iron was dressed freehand on a belt or disc sander as was the plane iron. The plane sides to sole were not perpendicular and the plane iron was bowed and scared with deep scratches that requited HOURS of work to remove. The sole was not flat. The lateral adjustment lever was riveted on so tightly that it is VERY difficult to adjust. I spent at least a half of a day to remove rust, file casting imperfections to improve iron bedding, refurbish and sharpening the plane iron. While I don't expect a cheap plane to be tuned out of the box I do expect that it only needs to be tuned and not refurbished. If you have access to a metal mill and proper lapping or precision grinding equipment, then this plane is for you. If you don't, then don't was your money.

Cheap plane to practice sharpening
I’m a new woodworker so I wanted a cheap plane to practice sharpening and turn into scrub plane. The big problem is it is not flat and there are flaws in the casting. Nothing that makes it unusable. So three hours of work to flatten the bottom of the plane. I had to start with 80 grit to remove enough material to make a difference. I got to 300 grit and that was enough. I’ll be modifying the mouth and blade to make a scrub plane and that’s all I’d recommend this for.

Needs tuning to be used
Wasn’t sharp enough to use for me. I’m not a pro at hand tools. I’m sure with time someone could tune it up well enough, but out of the box it wasn’t great.

Not Ready Out of the Box
This plane arrived well packaged and fully assembled. The blade was not properly sharpened. The blade side-to-side adjustment is terrible, although the blade advancement mechanism seems functional - if ugly. The sole and sides were not flat, let alone square. The frog was bearing on unmachined, as-cast, painted surfaces, and did not fit properly. The mouth was rough and adjustment is fairly limited. The handles were loose and needed to be sanded flat to sit properly. I might make a new tote at some point. The hardware is cheap. If you are not an experienced metalworker (note I did not say WOOD worker, I said METAL) you will not have a good time with this. I've been able to get it functional, and it does appear to be working well enough now that I've put in the time, but it's going to need a lot more work (I might even machine a new frog) before it's a "good" plane.

Very nice
Great beginning plane, mine needed a few small adjustments, the back handle wiggled a little even after I tightened the screw, needed to sand the bottom flat, and sharpen the blade

Poor quality control
I expected to have to do some work to the product to make it ready for use in fine woodworking. I did not expect to have to fix it right out of the box. Unfortunately I left it on the shelf in the box for to long before even checking it out or I would have returned it. The handle was loose and the screw would not tighten. Once I got it out I found the handle was not square on the bottom and the screw was cross threaded into the sole of the plane. The long screw as also badly rusted within the handle. After cleaning it up and fixing the threads of the screw and squaring the bottom of the handle I reassembled it. The handle sits straighter but attaches at an angle instead of inline with the plane. This is because the notch on the underside does not line up correctly with the plane. The iron also has a rough edge with a small chip in it. It'll take some sharpening to correct that too.

It's cheap!
I am very disapointed that the cap iron is not the one shown in the picture with the lever. Instead its more like the one in the picture of the Shop Fox 14in plane: all chrome with a screw to tighten it. I was ready to return it then I thought it's probably better to have the screw since, judging from the rest of the worksmanship, there is no way the lever would have had the right amount of tension to operate properly. With a hand plane can usually unscrew the blade and chipbreaker by using the tip of the top iron. Can't do that with this one. Everything including the blade look like it was finished on a 50 grit grinding wheel. That plane is greasy and reeks of piss. I'm pretty sure it will eventually work OK, it will just need a lot of work before getting there

It looks rough but it worked.
I had to tighten the handles but everything else worked out of the box. The blade needs sharpening already though and I have not used it all that much yet. I was planing the high spots on a table top made of 2x4 SPF and I have some "dings" in the blade already. Made in India, packaging smelled different too.
