Good tool, horrible smell
This tool worked perfectly, but whatever they used to paint/seal it stunk to high heaven, making my whole house reek of the smell to the point I had to put it back in the plastic bag and box just to stop the smell.

Great purchase.
I like everything about purchase. It’s makes life much easier. I plained an 8’ board in no time. Now, I’m looking for blades that will fit it.

Will function as a plane but only after a LOT of work.
Firstly, the instructions tell you to make sure the sole is flat, I'm thinking "how bad could it be"? Well, the sole was not even close to being flat. It took me over 3 hours to get it flattened and useable. The shoe is also a casting and not smooth, in fact it was bumpy and oddly shaped. The mouth is misshapen and rough and not rectangle in shape. When blade is adjusted properly you will have a bigger opening on one side than the other. If you want to use it with a shooting board, forget about it, the sides are not even close to being 90 deg. In fact, from one side over the sole, it is almost 1/8" out of square. The blade had deep tooling marks on the beveled edge and was very rough on the back. Not sure about the hardness of the blade just yet because I haven't been able to use it yet other than testing. The adjusting mechanism is a joke, it can be adjusted to get the cut you need, but it is a real PITA to do. You have to loosen the shoe thumb screw and move the adjusting thumb wheels to where you think they need to be and then when you tighten the thumb screw the blade moves. So it takes several attempts to get it right. Overall, it will work OK with a good bit of work, but it's not a plane that I would want to use every day.

Awesome planer
Pleased with the quality of construction, the smooth handling and sharp blade. Planed the edges of our new door to fit the door frame easily. Screws to adjust the depth of the blade and tighten in place are well placed and hand-tightened. Shaved 1/4" off the full edge of the door with ease, blade never shifted and it stayed sharp. Plastic parts are heavy duty, smooth and good weight. This thing feels like it'll last forever.

Comfortable to hold and easy to use.
We had a very old small planer that was hard to use. This new one is sturdy and works so well. It is a convenient size and is comfortable to hold with the grip ball and handle. Have used it a lot already on our DIY project of finishing out the inside of our barndominium. It is comfortable to use and works well shaving studs level, whether taking off a little bit or even up to 1/2" in one spot. The adjustment wheels are a little sloppy loose and it was a bit difficult to get the blade adjusted at first but once set up it works great! UPDATE: Though I am still very pleased with this planer, I wanted to update my review to let you know that currently the replacement blade for this item is not available on Amazon, which is very surprising to me for an Amazon Basics product (https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-1-12-134-Replacement-Cutter-12-404/dp/B07MFBVZJ6).

Worth every penny!
Bought this planer to shave down the sides and top of a wooden screen door. As you can see from the pile of shavings, this was a success. The job took literally minutes to perform and the door was installed in an hour. If you have a similar project, don’t hesitate to buy this.

Great for large bodies of wood
I purchased this when I decided to take up carpentry, and found (in my own lack of knowledge) that it is simply too large for the projects that I started on. However, in use on larger applications, this does wonderfully. Its adjustment mechanism is a little strange at first, but once I understood how it worked, its actually quite smart and efficient for getting the correct and precise desired setup. The blade seems to hold up relatively fine, and factory sharpness was good for quite a few passes. Overall, perfectly fine for a weekend carpenter. I couldn't say how well it would stand up to professional use, but for someone who's learning, its perfectly fine for most applications at home.

Ok, but
Thumb screw to hold blade in place isn’t powerful enough.

Cheap. But for one off jobs it’s good
Takes a lot more hard work than a better build one, but judging by the sturdiness of it all it could last quite some time. For those odd jobs I’d recommend, I had to plane just a few mill off one door or two doors.

Fiddly to set up but works
I don't generally read instructions and perhaps unsurprisingly found it fiddly to set up. The blade also came loose once and I also found it difficult to get the blade flat and at the right length. Aside from it did the job and was a great price! So pretty good overall as long as you don't need to use it often.

Good
Great product would definatly recomend but the edges are very sharp, almost as sharp as the blade so I had a mate smooth them down for me as the edges would dig into the wood
