Big improvement over Porter Cable $300 Dollar Jointer! Also, cast iron fence in March 2022
I bought the most popular porter-cable jointer that is on Amazon for around $300 bucks. It worked alright for a short period of time and now the fence is just incapable of being spare to the table due to the flex in the aluminum fence, Decided to upgrade. Originally bought Jet's lowest end benchtop jointer that runs a little over a grand. It worked pretty well, but felt like it wasn't worth $1k+ dollars. Came across this jointer, got it for $414 in March 2022. I'd say its just able equal to the Jet. Especially if you factor in price, but the accuracy, power of motor, and functionality is just about the same. MINE CAME WITH A CAST IRON TABLE IN MARCH 2022!! If it hadn't, I was going to send it right back. Overall, I'm super happy with it. I personally love the bag dust collection system. Avoid having to worry about creating a.way to get it connected to a vac or dust collector.

October 2020 Review and Assembly Tip
The media could not be loaded. There’s some confusion over the fence (aluminum vs cast iron). I placed my order October 1 2020, and received this jointer with manufacture date 04/2020 (noted on the machine). It has the cast iron fence, and the instruction manual states “For models manufactured since 02/2020”, so I think this listing is just out of date. The jointer comes with a thin layer or grease all over it (to prevent rust). The instructions say to clean it (which I did). Take your time, and also inspect the fence brackets, and connection points. Mine had a few areas of paint overspray that I had to scrape off with a putty knife (and more degreaser). After that, assembly was pretty straight forward. The one exception is the installation of the tilt knob which they list as step 6 (last step). It’s impossible to install at this point (see my video), so either install it prior to bolting the bracket to the fence, or remove the handle (with the included Allen key) and thread it in. Once it’s mostly installed then re-attach the handle. Overall, I’m pleased with it. I don’t have the space or money for a full size jointer, and this one does the job. The bed (in-feed and out-feed are level), and the fence was fairly easy to square. It is noisy, but no more so than my DeWalt planer (which also uses blades rather than a helical head).

Good jointer for small projects, small space.
I have several shop fox tools so I bought this as a replacement for my old delta bench top jointer. This unit is solid, cast iron running bed and fence. Assembly was easy and it lines up true 90 (fence to bed) fairly easy with minimal adjustment needed out of the box. There is no depth gauge or speed for cutting rpm. I liked having those features on the delta unit but I like the cast iron and 90 true up of this one. I’ve used on pine, popular and oak, cuts even across those woods. There is no way to run a wider board over 6” on this unit. The blade guard can be removed but the pivot pin is not removable so you are limited to 6” width max. Over all a good unit for small projects and small space.

Pic shows aluminum fence but mine came with iron
The unit I received came with a cast iron fence rather than the aluminum that's shown in the pic, but that makes it more solid. It also makes it weigh about 80 lb, but this is a bench-mounted tool and if it needs to be portable the bench should be made mobile. Getting all of the parts screwed together was a little harder than it seems like it should have been, I had to leave out 2 of the split lock washers to get the bolts that hold the fence to its support in order to get them to engage, but a couple drops of blue loctite should be sufficient as a substitute. So far it's working well, but I'm getting the feel for it and haven't really worked it that hard. First job for it has been smoothing the sides of 2x3 stud lumber that I'm laminating into a workbench top (I'll get to running some hardwoods through it when my shop is "ready for prime time" in relative terms). The tables seem to have come from the factory already coplanar, and the outfeed is built rigid to the chassis. I wasn't quite prepared for the volume of chips/dust that it creates, but the provided catch bag looks to be about 8 gallon capacity. The one thing that would be nice to have on this would be a calibrated depth of cut gauge, but that's easy enough to set up with a 2" machinists square.

Great Jointer with Some Quality Control Issues
This would be an excellent jointer aside from problems with non-flat infeed and outfeed tables. The jointer feels very solid and doesn't seem to move even when I didn't bolt it down on the bench. The cuts are clean, and the automatic dust port works very well. If I had received a unit with flat infeed and outfeed tables this would have been an easy 5 star product. That being said, I'm on unit number 2 right now and it has an outfeed table that slopes downwards towards the end. The first one I had had an infeed table. If i were to get the flat outfeed table of the first one and the flat infeed table of the second one all in one unit, it would be nearly perfect for what I plan to use it for. I've attached several pictures to show the problems with the tables. I placed an aluminum extrusion on the table so you can see where the extrusion doesn't touch the table because it isn't flat. I also used a digital angle gauge on various parts of the infeed and outfeed tables where every where shows 0.0 degrees except the end where it is no longer flat. Given the issues I've decided to send this one back as well and try one more time to get a better one. For the price this is a very good benchtop jointer as long as the tables are flat. If you buy this jointer, or any jointer for that matter, make sure your tables are flat.

Hace muy buen trabajo
Me gusto, hace un buen trabajo y tiene buen performance. El manual deja mucho que desear pero con algo de paciencia se pueden desifrar las imágenes en blanco y negro.
