Great stand

Very sturdy stand. Dropped a star because I had to drill my own mounting screws

Solid product shipped with a flaw.

I already own one of these stands and really like it. It is solid, sturdy, and well made. I chose to order another one becauseI I plan to use it for a table I am making. This stand arrived with a bad weld on the leg mounting plate that attaches to the foot. But because of the defective weld, when the foot was attached to the leg, the assembly would sit at an unusable slant - about 4 inches out of level. The leg was so slanted, I could not adjust the rubber feet to compensate for the slant. As a test, I put 6 washers in between the leg's mounting plate and the foot piece to compensate for the slant which made the leg come close to being level.. When I emailed the manufacturer with pictures of the defect, they promptly contacted me within a couple of hours. The representative was very pleasant, but informed me they had no way to just ship me a replacement for the defective part; I had to go through Amazon to return the entire stand and exchange it. Amazon's return policy set the expiration of my option to return the product at the end of the day. It was a rush, but I was able to complete a request to return / exchange it in the nick of time. Hopefully, the next one I get doesn't have problems. Shipping this entire heavy steel stand is a real pain... It would have been a much easier fix if they could have just replaced the defective part. Needless to say, this was not the quality I was expecting from an otherwise great brand - "Shop Fox". The reason why I rated this a "1" was because of this specific stand. As shipped, it was completely unusable. But the product in general is very sturdy and is made of quality materials.

Sturdy stand but poor packaging

Very sturdy and well made. I would have given it 5 stars except for the poor packaging causing paint to be rubbed off and the bolts were scattered throughout the box. They are not really needed but there were no instructions in the box. Update: After using this stand for awhile now I am extremely pleased with it. I remains very sturdy and although I keep it in a workshop/shed, it shows no signs of rust. I disagree with all the one star reviews and would recommend this to anyone with a mini or midi lathe.

Dont buy

Bought this for a Shop Fox w1752 lathe. it was advertised by the Shop Fox mother company Woodstock international as a direct accessory for this lathe. prior to the purchase I did read the reviews, of whitch were not so good. I decided to give it a try as most reviews were for other brand lathes...well I wished I would have listened to the reviews. When the box arrived there wasnt much box left. the item remained undamaged although I dont know how. Upon inital assembely ( bolting the legs to the feet.) one side went together fine, the other side not so much. the holes in the the foot or base..what ever you would like to call it, did not line up. meaning the bolt could not pass from the top hole through the bottom. Ok semi quick fix. Throw the foot on the drill press and re-drill the hole for proper allignment. finally get the thing together and put the lathe on to mount...uh oh the slots do not match the bolt pattern of the lathe. Yeah a Shop Fox lathe stand does not fit a Shop Fox lathe. The slots were an 1/8 of an inch out of tolerance for the lathe on both sides. even tried swapping the stand brackets from one side to the other. also tried reversing them.. Now not ok. Deffenatly not a quick fix. at this point i had to decided if i was going to dissassembel and return....in the 1/4 of the box that was left when it arrived or just brake down and fix the stupid thing. I fixed it though it took some time to get the tooling out to mill the slots to fit the lathe it was designed to hold. Moral of the story..dont buy this stand. infact dont buy Shop Fox their products have the same consistancy of HF. even the lathe dosent fully allign with it self. got the lathe in an action...lost on that deal.

Great lathe stand at a reasonable price.. Looks and works same as the Rikon stand I need for my lathe. Easy to put together. Can make the height to suit your comfort. Solid.

Worthless

Worthless piece of crap. Shipping container (cardboard box) was mutilated upon arrival; need to do a better job of making suitable packaging. Missing (1) bolt, (1) nut, & (2) washers. The feet washers were all bent; I had to hammer it out so it would stand up straight. Bought the extension too, these items must be built in different facilities because one set of hardware was standard, the other metric. Shotty welds and when I tilted each component, I could hear sand, or dirt, or rust flakes moving back and forth. I never owned a Shop Fox product before, fortunately I know now the level of quality to expect and I won’t waste my money in the future. Unfortunately, due to my overseas location returning it wouldn’t be cost effective. If i can’t rig it to work, it’s off to the recycle bin.
