Larger, heavier, and more clamping than competitors
I was pleasantly surprised at the size and heft of these when compared to the Bessey's. These have larger solid aluminum jaws and handle for far more clamping force than the nearest priced competitor. Definitely worth the $25 each I paid compared to $21 Bessey in picture. The frames are even larger when compared side to side. Solid aluminum jaws are huge and solid. Comes with plastic wood risers on the frames.

Nice product, but fantastic customer service from Yost
This is one of those increasingly rare situations where a company simply blows you away with great customer service. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with how Yost has treated me. I bought four 12” parallel clamps during a recent Amazon “deal of the day” promotion. With the discount, I felt like it was worth a shot on an unknown brand of clamps. I paid about ~$100 with tax for the four clamps. I’ve always wanted to have some 12” parallel clamps for gluing up small parts and assemblies, but haven’t had the chance to pick any up until now. Working with a 24” clamp on the bench is just a pain when you’re only using 8” of clamping capacity and the rest of the thing is poking you in the stomach as you work around it. The clamps arrived two days later in a larger box with a set of clamp racks I recently reviewed. I noticed right away that three of the four clamps were missing the little plastic stop that snaps on the end of the bar. It’s substantially similar to how the Bessey clamps work. This was undoubtedly Amazon’s screwup. They probably got knocked off in the picking/packing process at the warehouse. I knew Amazon would take care of me, but that they’d almost certainly want me to box the clamps back up and send them back, then ship out replacements. I felt like that was a horrible waste, since I was missing about half an ounce of plastic, all told. I decided to call Yost and see if they’d send me the missing parts. I called on a Saturday morning, not really expecting to get anyone since Yost is a pretty small company. Much to my surprise, Pat Nelis (the owner of the company, I think) picked up the phone on the third ring. He said he was in the office doing paperwork, but that they were really closed. He did take down my contact information and promised to have someone call or email on Monday. He agreed that it was better to see if we could get the missing parts shipped out to me rather than going through Amazon. I half expected not to hear from anyone on Monday, but sure enough, Ryan emailed me and by Thursday I had the missing stops in hand. Definitely a customer service win. As for the product itself, the clamps are definitely lighter duty than my Bessey or Jet clamps, but I certainly never torque those clamps down to their maximum pressure levels so that doesn't bother me. Aside from things like bent laminations or weird joinery, there is absolutely no reason to put ~1000lbs of clamping force on a joint. The “lighter duty” Yost clamps are perfect for my use, and I’m very happy with them so far. They’re sturdy enough but more manageable from a weight standpoint. As far as I can tell, the Yost clamps are made in Taiwan by the same supplier who sells clamps to Woodtek. Those are different colors but look like the exact same clamps. All in all, Yost is definitely my destination of choice next time I’m shopping for a vise. Fantastic company.

Good clamps until they rust
These clamps were great... until they rust. I have had them for 2.75 years. Over time they have gotten more difficult to use because of the rust. I live in a humid area so that is likely my problem but I am tired of all the maintenance to keep them working smooth. I will not buy these again because how difficult they have become to use over time.

Yost K5012 12 Inch Parallel Clamp
I like the long tangs, and the clamp look sturdy. Comparing it to the Bessey K clamps, here the bar is smooth, so the jaw slide up and down. you have to use both hands to close it first, and rotate the screw handle, to create pressure for it to lock. CON- On the Yost you have to hold the top and the bottom tangs at the same time, as it does not hold, otherwise the bottom one will slide down. it was reasonable at $18 per unit, but NOW at $54 per 12" unit, there are many better choices - it is overpriced

Oily. Not great.
I’ve had these and used these for over a year and the still leave an oily mark where the pads are after you take them off. I would never buy more of these. No other brand has this problem that I’ve encountered.

Better than Bessey
I have a number of Bessey's. Their construction is absolutely solid. Great clamps. What I like about the Yost is that they're might lighter and easier to clamp. You attach it, get close and screw it tight. Very simple. The Bessey clamps sometimes spread instead of clamp. You have to raise the handle when you turn it and it can take several times to get it right. If I had to do it all over again, I'd buy all these instead. Their construction isn't as high a quality as the Bessey clamps, but they're much easier to use and you don't have to fight gravity as much if you're positioning them on a free standing object.

Ok, but Yost is working to do better.
Good design but mediocre manufacture finish for the money, not expected Yost quality. The blue plastic part edges needed to be cleaned and smoothed. The clamp contacts are a hard plastic not a firm cushion grip like Irwin or DeWalt. Clamp contacts (blue) are not interchangeable with Irwin (yellow). We have Yost bench vises which are the best! Had some constructive discussions with Yost Vises customer service, so added a star.

Yost is the best of all the clamps in my shop
As a woodworker the number one rule is "You NEVER have enough lamps", but it is also true that not all clamps are created equally . While I had just recently used a Yost 15012 12 inch 330 lbs Bar Clamp, I had no doubt the Yost K5024 24 inch Parallel would be just as effective. The release mechanism for the stationary jaw is the slickest I have seen, you simply push up on the clearly marked release and you can can shift from compressing to spreading in no time at all. This Yost clamp si clearly better than any of the other 5 names of clamps I own.
