01.17.14: I just received these and have not had a chance to 'charge' them with distilled water yet. I have used humidification beads before and have been very pleased with their performance over foam inserts in maintaining whatever humidity level I prefer. The containers are 6.5 inches long x 2.25 inches wide x 0.6 inches tall with 2 large flat magnets on the back at each end. They only have about teaspoon of crystal beads in them. I know that they absorb up to 100 times their weight in water, but I am not sure that they will fill the volume of the container adequately to humidify a 250 cigar humidor. The container does come apart so more beads could be added (or changed out) in the future. I am pleased with their size since I have found that smaller round humidifiers do not keep my humidors balanced in the dry Southwest climate I live in. I will charge them tonight and update my review on their performance . . .

perfect (but not as pictured)
Works as it should. People who say it doesn't work are clearly doing something else wrong. This one is not overfilled like some gel humidifiers, where if you soak them overnight they pop open. It was a drop-in replacement for my older rectangular humidifier. Note that the pictured product is NOT what you are getting! That is a picture of an black humidifier with green florist's foam. The actual product is clear/translucent and filled with gel beads. So if your heart is set on black don't buy it.

Barely works
I have a medium 120ct humidor and it barely keeps my cigars at 65%. Every day I have to keep checking to make sure the level doesn't drop and leave me with dry cigars. I can't complain too much because my cigars feel fine to the touch - more so than they did with a sponge insert. However, I am concerned that during the winter time - as it get's pretty dry where I live at times - that the humidifier will have a hard time keeping up. This thing fits perfectly in my humidor, so it's not an issue of whether or not it is sized appropriately. It may have been because I threw in a mixture of 1% propylene glycol (hardly any) just to play it safe (it says to only use water but I doubt the amount of PG I put it would hurt), or it just really doesn't do it's job. I'd recommend a smaller crystal humidifier if you're going to use this one, just as a supplement, or maybe a smaller sponge humidifier to get you at that 69-70% you may desire. I'll probably exchange mine for a different one to see if it was the propylene glycol that limited the function or not.

Best Option for me
I am currently running 3 humidors the largest of which holds 100 cigars. They are at least 5 years old and weren't that expensive to begin with. They all have a tight seal however. I just started back on smoking and storing cigars. As much of a hobby as anything else. I used to have an electronic humidifier which was incredible,but it died. It would cost about $110 to replace. I've tried all the options crystal jars, hydropacks ,etc. and for whatever reason this one works the best for me. I seasoned all my humidors before using them and just added distilled water to the unit. Keeps my humidor at 72 % (humidistat is calibrated) and so far I only have to recharge this unit about once every two weeks, and it is opened daily. I'm ordering a second one to see if the success follows in the larger humidor

The 1st one I got fell apart the very first time I loaded it with distilled water. They sent me a new replacement immediately and had me send the failed one back. Very quick service.

Perfect Humidifier, Perfect Fit
Thi is a perfect replacement for the OEM (foam style) humidifiers that my 200-cigar humidor contained. I've attached photos of the brick soaking in a dish of distilled water, the side-view shows how well -and how much- the beads swell up when you follow directions. Happy Cigars = Happy smoker ☺.

Pro's: - Low maintenance - Solid 70% Humidity Con's - Adhesive on magnets is weak, causing it to fall frequently when mounted to the lid (solved with double sided tape) - Took awhile to season. For the first month of ownership kept humidity at around 80%. Settled at 70% after it normalized. Other notes: Was a little larger than pictured, but advertised measurements are accurate.

Good for the most part
The crystals absorb a great amount of water which is awesome and it seems to keep the humidifier at a good level but one of the corners leaks which can be a pain until the water is all absorbed so I'm subtracting two stars for that. If you get one that doesn't leak then it would be great.

Product is great and humidifies VERY well
The humidifier was clear plastic not black. So if that matters to you it's something to consider. Product is great and humidifies VERY well. If you have less than 80 or so sticks in your humi it will put you well over 70% Rh. Crystals absorb tons on water and don't need to be filled for weeks. Great product
