durable. covers well. but some learning experience with the live coil use.
yes. safety measure. can be hung safely to deck or post. works well to excellent. burns completely and smoothly. obviously Coghlan coils, since very easily broken when getting them separated, can fit burning pieces of any size in the smoker holder. and produces nice smoke (dont breathe it though - as there are some toxicities to the coils smoke.) it did not break (so that is better point than the terra cotta version. yes, I can tap it against deck or tree and get residual ash out of the well. durability very good, even of the fire retarded plastic that must really be glass holding the burning coil in. takes care of the safety issues as I no longer desire any unexposed flames or burning material on or near the deck. the holder seems to be ok with weather, and I have not had any issues with wind gusts taking things to higher anxiety levels. pros : well constructed, simple, basic, good holder. cons: is a learning experience as the fit is a bit tight and a little to be watched so as not to touch the hot part of the coil when securing the two pieces together on a hot coil. the glass turns a black color but so far for one full season it functioned nicely.

If you use mosquito coils, get one of these.
I've been using these things since I was a kid camping with my parents. These are way better than the ones with just a screen in a hole on the base. The quality of this one isn't as high as the ones we used to use. The screen on this one came a bit out of the track with relatively little pressure, but it's a pretty simple design and probably an easy fix should it worsen. The older ones also had a better screen material I think, but this one still seems to hold up to the heat of a smoldering coil. All in all though, this does its job as well as ever: keep the coil from blowing out, let you put it wherever you want, and keep the ashes contained. It even makes it possible to piece together and use a broken coil.

Safe and Secure
Very simple to place the coil and twist the lid securely. Yes there is a screen inside that does get charred from the burning coil, but so what. Screen stays affixed, and I can easily handle and transport the holder without issues or concerns. If you use a coil repellent, then this works great.

A practical and inexpensive product that works well for me
I like this mosquito coil holders because it offers me more options to hang coils, it contains the coil so that it can't start a fire, and it contains the ashes so they don't get all over where it's placed. In other words, it's a practical idea that works well for me. I had two of these coil holders that served me for quite a number of years. I lost one and needed to replace it. The originals were not purchased from Amazon but I was pleased to see Amazon sold them. I've got two again and I'm all set to go camping.

Like the Hanging Feature
Since mosquito coils tend to be rather static in where it can be placed, and quite often massively dependent on wind change, I like that this holder allows for the coil to be hung up. I haven't even used it like that yet but it works great just sitting in one location too. Strangely enough, I keep thinking the coil will burn through the mesh. I've only used it a few times but it doesn't look like it will, though it does leave an intriguing black, coiled trail. I don't know why they chose to design it like that but I'm sure there had to be a reason - whether good or bad is something else.

Hanging mosquito coil holder
I had been looking for a mosquito coil holder that was made out of that pottery material. I found some at a local retailer with the help of one of the store employees. I told her I wanted to take it out of the box to make sure it wasn't broken and sure enough it was so we checked another one and another one and found that every one of them was broken. I decided that I didn't want that style anymore and came home and looked on the internet and found these. Its made out of metal so breaking won't be a propblem and these can be hung up which is a nice feature.

Works really well, it doesn't matter if the coils break, they’re still useable with this.
Great way of burning these bug coils. Inevitably we manage to break the coils as we are handling them but with this holder it doesn’t matter. If you light the pieces they will all burn and are held in place by the burner. It can be used flat on a surface or hung up. So far I’ve found it a foolproof way of getting the coils to burn with no waste and it keeps the bugs away. Would recommend and buy again if I need to.

A bit expensive but worth it
A bit expensive for 1 holder but looks really strong and well made, you can also hang it. On the order notification from Amazon it has "X 4" next to the small picture of the item, so I was expecting 4 of these. A little misleading. However, as it's free delivery all the way from the USA and it's a very good product 5 stars.

The Incredible Rainproof Coil Holder!
Excellent bit of kit... so far. Was amazed when having lit the coill, placed it in the holder and hung it at the tent entrance, we experienced a 2 hour downpour... only to find the coil still smouldering away 3 hours later. What more could you ask for? Don't know how long it will last (though no specific reason to doubt it's longevity), but whilst it does, it gets my vote!
