I really wanted to love this but I just couldn't stand it any longer!
It worked...for the most part. Here's my problem, I live in a rural neighborhood where the neighbors cannot be convinced to keep their dogs in their own yards. Now, I'm not a dog hater, I have two myself, but they stay in the yard. One dog in particular loves to come over and dig and poop in my vegetable garden. i tried the smell sprays but they seemed to like that even more! I had high hopes for this! PROS: It did work and seemed to work quickly! The dogs avoided it and started protesting by pooping right outside the boundary. I loved that it had the different frequencies to ward off different animals and animal groups. I even liked the color because it blended quite nicely. The motion sensor was a nice plus and seemed to work well. CONS: As others mentioned, you are able to hear it, and it is LOUD. On the upside, I was able to adjust the frequency just right to where I wasn't able to hear it but it wouldn't last. I figured out that every time ANY moister came in contact with it (sprinkler, rain, mist, someone sneezed just right) the frequency would change and the whole street could hear it again. It wasn't as bad from the back, but oh man, as soon as I walked in front of it my ears hurt. This was the prime reason I had to send it back and it was such a disappointment because I loved seeing the dogs stay on the other side of the sidewalk. One of the biggest annoyances was the back cover. Because it is made to be resistant to water, they made the back panel extremely hard to get on and off and you have to get it off to adjust the frequencies, volume, motion, anything. I took off the back once and only managed to wrestle it back on once before giving up and pseudo closing it. The time spent between the sound and the trouble it was to get the frequency back to where it was silent, standing guard would have been less time consuming. The red light was annoying, but whatever, I was willing to put up with it if it worked. Bottom line is that it works but it has some significant design flaws. If they fixed the back panel issues and the frequency issue when in contact with moisture, I would buy it. But as it was, I had no choice but to return.

Adequate Product
Have 4 of these on my property. Appears to be working but does not totally eliminate our deer problem. If used as directed, this product can help ward off some deer but not all of them. It also helps eliminate other pests such as rats/mice/raccoons/rabbits (not seen any since putting devices around property). I would recommend these to persons that have gardens at your home. Devices can run on battery or 120W Power & are easy to install. They are waterproof & appear very durable in cold/hot weather. I would purchase again if necessary.

IT WORKS FINE [ IN TIME ]
I have read most of the reviews and was looking for the LATEST Comments, until I clicked on the small blue strip [right side] for Most Helpful First, NEWEST FIRST. [ Thought this would help you too! ] My problem was picking up Cat Poop in my backyard every morning, so that HOA Landscape Gardners would not step into it, amongst other obvious reasons. This was not too bad when it was solid, but terrible when it was not. This had been going on for a while until I had enough and started looking for remedies. I considered an outomatic watering system but felt it would spray the Gardeners and myself too. I tried spraying expensive Pest Control Pellets on my lawn, until I read about the Yard Gard. So I ordered it 6 weeks ago, plugged it in to AC power, and tried the motion censor first. But when I noticed a stray Cat pooping on my lawn, I realized that the Ultrasound would go OFF as soon as the Cat would stand still. So I changed it to Constant ON position, and tried different frequencies. Now Cats are pretty smart! First I noticed that a Cat would simply linger behind some plant containers, since Ultrasound does Not Penetrate Anything! So I moved some containers out of the way. Then I noticed that a Cat would simply turn its back on it, with its ears in the opposite directions. Now I almost gave up, but then a funny thing happened: No More Poop on my lawn! So I think it takes time for you to experiment, and for the animal to get frustrated. Do not give up so fast, and do Not expect a Quick Fix. Your patience will ultimately pay off. I would definately recommend this product to anyone. PS: When an animal first notices the anouing sound, it gets confused and does not realize that all it has to do is leave the area and that will stop the sound. It will take the animal some enter and leave the area to get the idea. Also: When I first got the Unit, I tried to see how effective the range is. So I adjusted it to Motion setting in the Evening [because the red light gets very bright in the dark and can easily seen from a distance] and walked away from it until it went on or off. This is a good way to check on its range. Thought you might like to try this too!

Yeah, it's keeping me out of my yard
I'm a pest to my yard. I step on my grass, sometimes I litter. And man, this YardGard is keeping me out. I can hear nearly all frequencies it emits, and I thought I had lousy hearing. It also doesn't seem to operate at all with fresh batteries, only on AC power. So, either my product is defective, or I can't read my multimeter and instead have insane hearing powers. I can only imagine how the neighbors' kids would feel if they heard this thing going off. It's really very unpleasant. So, I guess for those of you who can't hear it, believe me, it's nasty---I would stay away. I can't speak for birds or rodents, who seem to be somewhat masochistic with these various stay-away/trapping strategies, but, who am I to say. What I will say is: based on my experiences with it, I have no plans to use this product on other critters. It won't work with batteries (for me), which is more-than kind-of important, and if I get anywhere near the thing on the frequency setting I need to keep squirrels away, I run away instead. Oh yeah, and the plastic back to it is also pretty lousy. It's hard to put on, it's hard to take off, and it just feels very cheap. I probably should give the thing a lower score, but I'm just so impressed with how awful it sounds that I can't make myself do it.

Not useful for scaring pigeons
The packaging and description implied to me that this would be good for scaring pigeons, they "laughed" at it. Variable frequency for different vermin, but none for birds. Reverted to good old wire mesh below solar panels. Will put this into the shed in case the fox returns to excavating the garden!

The Unit isn't working and hasn't worked since I got it!!!! Not at all happy:-( It came with an American plug in mains adapter (110v)! and I live in Ireland (EU)!!! I bought it in England and had to pay extra to have it shipped over to Ireland! I bought one initially 2 years ago and it worked fine, and came with a proper 220v adapter which doesn't fit the new Unit! What should I do with it?
