You get what you pay for, but not too bad
Well, you certainly get what you pay and I knew/expected that when purchasing this. I’m rather new to wood working (~2 years experience) so I couldn’t justify the cost of a higher end plane. I bit the bullet and purchased this Shop Fox plane because I wanted to see if they really were as useful as some hype them up to be. I would definitely say they are now. This one however, took a bit of work. Mine had a belly on it and when I first started the flattening process I was immediately sunk because I knew I had a fair bit of work ahead of me. If you have a grinder that can handle this, then you can completely ignore this complaint. I used 80 grit sand paper on a piece of glass to get it generally flat, then switched over to my 300 diamond stone, then 600 before ending at the 1000 grit stone. Gave the base a nice polish and within 0.001”. If you don’t have stones, then have a steady stock of sand paper ready. It took me about three hours over a three day period to get the belly off on the 80 grit sand paper. I know my diamond stones could have easily took that belly off in a matter of minutes, but I didn’t want to wear out my stones on one small plane bed prematurely. The blade also need flattening and sharpening, but this only took a few minutes to fix since the blade is so small to begin with. The tightening bolt seems to hold well as long as you use a driver to cinch it down; hand tightening alone didn’t seem to be enough here. After tuning it up though, it works fairly well and accurately. The size is both a blessing and a curse, as it can fit almost anywhere but can be a little taxing on the hands. If you have arthritis, have a few Tylenol on hand. Honestly, if the bedding was ground just a bit more flat, I would’ve given this 4 stars. If you need a router plane and can’t afford the more quality ones, just get this one. You may have to work with it a bit, but it will do what you want with ease after that.

Good with some work.
They are very rough and will need to time spent on them before you use. I spent an hour flattening the sole and it works great.

A journeyman's tool
The Woodstock router plane isn't beautiful, but it does it's job and does it well. This is a utilitarian tool. The plane's lines aren't elegant and the finish is a bit rough, but it's comfortable to hold and use. The iron, takes and holds an edge. Although the iron skews slightly when the set screw is tightened, the skew is only in the horizontal plane. Since I intentionally skew the plane when cleaning a dado, or groove, the fact the iron is slightly misaligned relative to "true north" doesn't really matter. What does matter is that the Iron's cutting edge is perfectly parallel to the plane's bed. The Woodstock nails that. If you want a bronze body, or more elegant lines, spend a more and go for a Veritas, or Lie Nielsen. If, like me, you primarily want to get the job done while saving discretionary funds to go towards that sweet Veritas plow plane you've been eyeing, then the Woodstock D3820 will do you right. I feel confident, that for me, this mini-router plane will be a lifetime tool.

A decent router plane. Could be better
This router plane isn't too bad. It gets the job done pretty well. It required some sharpening and flattening like most planes. I believe it was mentioned by another reviewer that you can get a high quality plane for just a little more cost and that checked out. This plane is okay but the higher quality plane you can get for a few more dollars has better adjustment features and a better blade. My blade ended up being square so that didnt end up being a problem for me. Dimensions of the plane can be seen in the photos I attached. Pros: *Cheap *Gets the job done Cons: *For just a few more dollars you can get a much more full featured tool from a reputable company (-1 star) *Cannot get fast and accurate depth measurements (-1/2 a star) Additional Considerations: I don't think this is a bad product. But I would go for the higher quality tool for a few more dollars. You will be happier in the long run. Overall: 3.5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, 4 stars If you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

A good basic router plane
This plane is exactly what I expected for the price. It is solidly built, but without any of the advanced features of more expensive router planes -- no depth stop, no micro adjuster, no provision for a fence. It is a good, basic tool. The iron was properly ground, reasonably flat on the bottom, beveled properly, but un-honed. It had a significant chip in the center of the edge, and required some regrinding. The design of the iron prevented me from grinding the bevel on my grinder, so I ground it on 220 grit sandpaper on a granite floor tile. Half an hour's work had the nick removed and the back and bevel honed to 1000 grit and ready to go. I tested it deepening a dado in 3/4" plywood. It smoothed the bottom of the dado and had no trouble with the wood, the glue, the cross grain, or the masonite filler in one end of the dado. I'm totally satisfied with the plane and recommend it to anyone who is willing to accept that it is a basic, utilitarian tool and not a collector's item.

OK, but a sharp chisel is better
A little difficult to use. I used it to flattened the bottom of dados made with a table saw. Setting needs to be very shallow or you need to be a gorilla to use the tool. I was successful after multiple shallow passes. Would be more user friendly if it had a depth stop, Be sure to tighten the slotted knurled knob with a screwdriver.

Acceptable, with a little tune-up.
Got it today, coated in oil. Wash it before you do anything else. A few tuning recommendations: First, the stop screw bears against a sharp corner of the iron - I ground that corner flat with regard to the screw, and it holds MUCH better. You will have to grind, not file, as the steel is pretty hard. Second, the sole needs a little flattening. Do this with wet-or-dry sandpaper on a flat surface with a little soapy water as a lubricant. Third, sharpen well. The steel took a good sharp edge. Should perform well - more when I've had a chance to use it.

Neat and well made
A small and easy to set up router plane. Not used in anger yet, but a quick test suggests it will be up to the job.

sofort einstzbar

What am I missing?
There seems no way to avoid the blade digging into the work piece and messing it up. The bottom of the blade is not flush, as another reviewer states, but it is angled down so that it digs in and keeps digging the more you push. Perhaps if one affixes a wedge to the front, or grinds a bevel on the flat bottom of the blade equal to the blade's "angle of attack" to try to neutralize this problem. Is there some other way of dealing with this problem that I don't know about? It seems this plane is designed specifically to never work under any circumstances.

"hate it" is probably an understatement :(
This seems to be a normality with all Shop Fox/Woodstock hand tools. Up until now I ordered 3, and all 3 were either returned or replaced (Thanks to Amazon's amazing policy). I sincerely recommend you go elsewhere because the machining on almost all shop fox hand planes, are very very sub par with way too many (and often unfixable) flaws such as blade that is too wide, or not flush...etc. I received this one with a blade that is not flush with the cutting surface, and there is no way I can even dare trying to get such a steel blade at home without any heavy duty machinery.... In normal circumstances I would say you get what you pay for, but in shop fox's case, you probably don't get much value at all :( Look elsewhere is my honest recommendation and if you can't afford a pricier brand, save up - it's worth it!

Funciona bien
Funciona bien en general, la suela podria ser mas plana y pulida, pero por el precio es buena herramienta en general
