Best of all wall mounted doggie doors sold in Amazon. Period.

We tried another doggie door that has a lower sticker price. I assume I can’t mention the brand but I did review it after returning it. This door is solid and well constructed. It’s has a nice weather proof liner around the entrance on both sides, keeping out the air. The other brands have a thicker (yet flexible) door flap, but it doesn’t seal to the entrance and I could literally feel the air flowing into the house past the areas that didn’t seal back to the entrance. Not only that, but there wasn’t a weather seal around the entrance so air flowed past the gap between the flap and the entrance. This door’s flap is far more flexible, which allows it to go back into shape against the door entrance. One other thing we learned about what we wanted in a doggie door was one high enough that our dog didn’t have to do the army crouch through the tunnel. This door is a bit big, but it allows our Chi-pin (Chihuahua / mini-pin mix) to go through with ease. It’s flap is also easier for him to open because it isn’t such a thick/heavy plastic like the other brands. With the thick plastic flap, he had to paw at it for a few seconds. With this one, it’s one stroke and he feels comfortable entering the tunnel. They have you measure the dog height from the floor to the shoulders. That’s fine if the dog likes to do the army crouch. It seems a bit uncomfortable for our dog. There is another flap option: solid plastic divided into two or three pieces hinged together. Our neighbor went with a door like that. The dog doesn’t like to go through it even though her dog is a German Shepard/ Healer mix. It frightens her a bit. Took me a lot of work to train her to go through; and even then, she still was hesitant. SUMMARY While this doggie door was perfect for our Chi-pin, I can’t guarantee it will be right for your dog; but, here are the things I learned were important deciding factors: 1. Door Size. If the size of the door matters for appearance reasons, then go with the smaller door that forces your dog to crouch a bit; otherwise, if your dog’s comfort and acceptance of using the door are important to you, this door is a winner while not compromising weather resistance and durability. We would have preferred a slightly smaller size. This door is over 14” high and our dog is 12” , but we needed the more flexible flap and better weather resistance. 2. Flap Material. If your dog is more delicate like ours, then you want a softer/flexible flap like this door has. If not - and if not spooked by the hard plastic door flaps - those are the most weather resistant. They definitely give you a solid seal at the entrance. Not a fan of the middle ground where the flaps are a thick plastic. They get warped by being bent by use, so air gets past them. They simply aren’t weather resistant for practical reasons. These are only good for owners who aren’t concerned with weather resistance but have dogs who won’t accept the hard plastic option. Even then, why use them? The one I’m reviewing Is simply better. I hope this helps someone. I sure could have used this knowledge up front.

Works well

Love the double flap. There was a short learning curve. Bought it for my Aussie who is a little overweight. It is tight fit!!!

We all love it!

The media could not be loaded. My husband installed this pet door on a Saturday afternoon. He didn’t have any issues at all. Our dog Vincent learned to use it after some training. Our other dog is still getting used to it. This door is giving all of us FREEDOM! We are all super excited that our dogs can go outside whenever they want and we dont have to be the doorman anymore. Also, they don’t need to be crated while we’re at work anymore. It’s a really nice door and I’m happy with it. Great quality.

Good Product

Good product but wished it had another inch for thicker walls. This product only fits up to 9 1/4 inch and houses w brick exteriors have at least 10 inch thick walls. Had to improvise as the two sides left a gap of about an inch. Otherwise, it seems durable enough..

Great door, good seal, good fit and looks fantastic.

Should be easy install a normal home, we have poured concrete which made it more difficult also because of the extra width the overlap is barely a quarter of an inch. Weatherproof taping sealed it and water does exit through the drains installed in the door itself. Double doors were a bit intimidating to the dog at first, he was used to a single flap but quickly got used to them.

Let's your pet go outside so he doesn't go inside.

Easy to install and our pets learned how to go out and come in easily on their own. Saved us and our pets needless stress by allowing them to go outside and do their business when we aren't around to let them out. Frankly, it's a no-brainer if you have pets and an enclosed backyard.

A replacement for an existing pet door

We had to replace some siding on our home so we decided to also replace the pet entry with a newer version of the door we already had. The new design had been simplified to make it easier to install but it perfectly fits into the existing holes except that the mounting screws are in different positions. The double flaps provide very good protection from the weather. If you need a door for a Beagle sized dog, this is a good one.

FLAPS STAY OPEN !

Unfortunately this product does not seal properly. The flaps stay open on the sides when the flap closes letting air pass into or out of the house. THIS PRODUCT IS DEFINATELY NOT MADE FOR CANADIAN WEATHER !
