Great Quality
I bought this for a $3,000 in swinging door and this is a much better than what I replaced. If your swings inwards you will need to notch it on both sides to allow for the door jamb on each side. The best way to do it is place on the door bottom backwards and see if the width fits and then figure how much width needs trimmed. Then notch both sides using a new hack saw blabde and a mitre box to make an exact clean cut. The product was well worth the price.

Good Quality, Does the Job
Excellent product, it did what it's supposed to do, and was easy to install.

Installation instructions
I’ve installed 3 of these, figured I’d give step-by-step instructions. * cut your door 1/2 inch from the threshold. Your can slide the door bottom an additional 1/2 inch down, so err on the side of larger gaps. I cut mine to 5/8th to account for the threshold not being perfectly level. * cut the door bottom to the width of the door. I used a mortise gauge to mark the line and a hacksaw. * use a sanding block (220 worked for me) to clean the cut edges. Also, sand the inside where the holes are drilled as they may have burrs which will mar your door * test fit the door bottom and mark where the weather proofing on the sides touch the door bottom. * use the hacksaw again to remove the drip cover (curved bit on the front) so it doesn’t interfere with your weatherstripping. A Dremel also works and is better, but takes longer. * slide in the rubber bottom and cut it to fit * close the door and push down the door bottom until the river barely touches the threshold, you shouldn’t see any light * screw it to the door * use something to paint the cut metal, I used a sharpie, but I don’t now if it’ll hold. All in all a good product and pretty easy to install. I wish they sold pre-cut versions.

NO thermal break?
This door weather seal is a very well-made item. The product is anodized aluminum 36" in length and MUST be trimmed to fit, if you have other than an exact 36" door, of which there are MANY. If you do not possess the tools, nor the skills required, then you should probably opt for one of the cheap plastic substitutes - this item is designed and manufactured to last a lifetime but it requires SOME handyman skills to install correctly. For example, those complaining about the rubber strips tearing on the unit, obviously, do not understand the need for a PROPER clearance between the bottom of the seal and the door sill/threshold; this is most easily accommodated by an adjustable threshold. If you have too great a clearance = NO adequate seal. If you have too little clearance = abraded rubber strips, often in short order. Proper tools consist of something adequate to cut aluminum: hack saw, Dremel tool, chop saw, etc. and scissors to trim the rubber strip. Some other complaints consist of missing items, e.g. rubber seal, screws, etc. These MAY have been missing from the manufacturer's packaging but my guess is it's more likely a result of a "return" which was "recycled" to another customer, who can be sure? Another couple of complaints refer to an improper fit but, as one reviewer offered, if your wooden door has already taken on water for a protracted period and, thus, has swollen, you won't get this precisely manufactured item to fit - by then it's too late. Some have commented on the product supplied being darker than the picture; this is true, so beware if you want the color in the picture. I find the actual tone to be fairly accurate to what I see advertised as oil-rubbed dark bronze. OK, so now having lauded the qualities of the product and, hopefully, corrected a few misconceptions, here is what I find inadequate in the design of this product: there is NO thermal break to deter FRIGID outside temperatures, experienced in the winter Northeast, from migrating to the inner 3/4" strip of the U-shaped component. On VERY cold days, I have experienced condensation on this interior aluminum strip as the warm interior house heat contacts this cold strip - not very desirable, especially when it is situated above a hardwood floor. The manufacturer should have allowed for this and provided a thermal break in the design. I have installed this setup on an interior-swing atrium door above a M-D exterior threshold, which does incorporate a thermal break for this reason. M-D should have split this component longitudinally into two overlapping aluminum pieces with an insulator between, or, change the design to a L shape rather than a U shape to prevent cold transmission to the interior "U" strip. Otherwise, GREAT product but I have to knock it 1 star and give it a 4 for this reason.

my package came without screws and was open, but I was not deterred
I had no idea before reading the reviews that this came with screws. Oh well. I have screws. I also knew my old house would likely require me to trim this, I needed to shave off about 1/8" and on the curved lip, another 1/2" on each side of the curve. I have honestly never had a door seal before, I have lived 10+ years with a door that had a 1/4" gap on the bottom and let the wind right in, and the dirt and the hose water. I have an old, wood front door, I don't think it ever had anything on it to seal out the bad weather. I live in Southern CA, so the weather was never bad enough to care about 1/4 " of open air flow and we don't have mice around here. That said, I possess a hack saw, a couple of extra screws, scissors and handyman skills. I also have some nice oil rubbed bronze touch up paint and a few files. I was able to make short work of this project and it fit without any issues. UNBELIEVABLE. For the first time in over 11 years, my front door seals when it is shut, well, except at the top which has another 1/4" of open airflow. I don't really care so much about the top honestly. I can't believe the feel of a new threshold and a new door sweep seal. It looks like I have a real door now, not a rag tag, tired, naked shutter on hinges. I am astonished at the difference it made. I find that the weather strip likes to sneak out, so I put a dab of silicon in the track at the end to effectively act as a stop and let it cure overnight. My house is coming along, one piece at a time. this takes literally no time to install, even with some measuring, cutting, filing, adjusting and searching for appropriate colored screws and touch up paint for a stray saw blade mark and the edges. I think this will keep out dirt much better during the SantaAna winds and that less water will splash inside. I'm not too picky or particular, but this looks very professional and offers a fantastic bang for your buck. $11.00! WOW!

Commercial grade product!
This is the best I have ever installed on my exterior garage door. Seals perfectly, Very strong, aluminum extrusion not crappy plastic. I didn’t drill pilot holes for screws , just screwed them in the door The only trick is cutting to length. A hacksaw will do the job , but I used a zip cut disc on my hand grinder , cut perfectly , file the edges . Great quality product Made in North America too !

Heavy duty aluminum door seal
Used this to replace the aging vinyl seal on my front door. This one has an aluminum shell and a replaceable rubber/vinyl seal underneath. The quality seems great and heavy-duty. Love the appearance when it's installed. It will require some effort to be cut into length, whereas a hack saw should do the work. One minor observation is a little water condensation on the inner side when the outside temperature is getting cold. This is because aluminum conducts heat and coldness so well. Not really an issue though.

Great product
Fits my front door perfectly. Some effort required to get a tight fit but that is due to the well engineered minimal tolerances on size and shape. Looks good in terms of the color match to my door and is good at keeping out rain and draughts Worth the money

Excellent quality and the insulation seal at the bottom works great.
This bronze colour looks very sharp. The quality is excellent and the insulation seal at the bottom works great. I have dual 30" doors, and I cut this faced upside down, with a hand grinder with a metal cutting blade and came down on it from above. Cut was smooth, and the bronze colour intact. Very pleased with both that I bought.

Fits my front door
Fits my front door. Cut it to size with a hacksaw Update: after 1 winter, or 5 months a piece of the rubber started to rip off. But still useable
