AWESOME PRODUCT

cant say enough about this product. It took maybe 30mins to install with getting out tools and cutting down to fit door. My door was 32in and this product is for a 36in door. Cut two inches off both ends and it fits perfectly. I could see into the common area from under the door in my apartment, which would let in smoke, cooking odors, bugs etc. and this solved the problem perfectly. Has heavy rubber seal and goes over the carpet with a little drag but even makes it over the thin mat that I have. Anyways great product and would recommend.

Excellent quality

We had a big gap under the door coming into the house from the garage—the air conditioning (and heat in the winter) escaping under that door was not only very inefficient, but it was also attracting flies into the house where the temperature is more comfortable for both humans and flies! I read a lot of reviews and selected this particular door sweep because I wanted commercial grade—nothing flimsy, or attached with adhesive to fall off. I am very pleased with this one. What I like: Both the aluminum and the rubber are very sturdy to last a long time. It was advertised for high traffic areas. We come in and out of this door frequently and so wanted a quality product, attached securely. It was easy to install with 4 provided screws. I just had to mark a line at the desired height across the bottom of the door, mark the drill holes, and drill pilot holes for the screws. This door sweep comes 36” wide, but my door is only 32”. I was able to use a hacksaw to easily cut the aluminum strip, neatly. I cut the end that’s on the hinge side of the door so that the slightly rough (cut) end would not be exposed. I was also able to use a pair of scissors to cut the rubber to size. I cut the rubber slightly longer than the aluminum. This comes pre-drilled with 4 holes—that’s good, except that I cut the 4th hole totally off when I cut the length from 36” to 32”. I was able to easily drill a new hole, so that I still had 4 holes, evenly spaced, and I was able to use all 4 of the screws they provided. What I don’t like is minor: The holes in the aluminum did not quite line up with the holes in the rubber. That’s not a big deal, since I simply drilled a new hole through the rubber and the old holes do not show, since the rubber is inserted into and behind the aluminum. It was just an extra step. The seller’s product photo does not give a good view of the entire door sweep—it shows only 2 pre-drilled holes but 6 screws, giving the impression that there could be 6 pre-drilled holes. There are actually 4 pre-drilled holes in the 36” door sweep, and 4 screws are provided. If you have to cut down the length to fit your door, you will likely cut off one of the pre-drilled screw holes like I did, and so you may need to drill a new hole if you want to attach the door sweep with all 4 screws. Once installed, this door sweep is a perfect fit to prevent the A/C from escaping and to prevent the flies from coming into the house. It is also a BARGAIN at the $10.62 I paid. Others are triple the price. Overall, I am really pleased with it and do recommend it. I took several photos to show you how strong and secure it is and how well it seals the gap under the door. I write honest reviews to help others make informed purchases because I read reviews myself and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope that my review helped you!

I have tried the felt and the rubber strips and both failed to do the job. These seem to be more forgiving and hold up well too.

Firm, not suitable for all

The materials are built well, but the rubber is very firm and only appropriate for very specific types of door thresholds. You would need something below the door that the rubber comes into contact with. Just as the door closes. It is not suitable for a door that has a small gap below it, but that does not approach some kind of door jam or raised section underneath the door.

Nice Door Sweep

Installed this myself (senior woman) to try to create a quiet music room from a spare bedroom. My half-deaf husband blasts the TV in the adjacent living room and I needed some aural relief. There was a pretty big gap under the door, and I could really hear the difference once the sweep was installed.

Solid quality, sturdy

This is a solid product, not cheaply made, and sturdy. The rubber strip was almost 2" wider than the metal, leaving plenty of extra for overlap on the ends. The height is generous enough to close large gaps, and the metal piece is heavy duty. The price is very reasonable for such a well-made product. [edit] I asked in the Q&A what the term "Mill" in the description means. One person answered and said it means "it's raw aluminum from our mill". That meant nothing to me, so I guessed maybe that's the type of finish and looked up "mill finish". Wikipedia says "Mill finish is the surface texture (or finish) of metal after it exits a rolling mill, extrusion die, or drawing process". Just in case anyone else wonders.

Second order hasn't arrived after a month

The first time I order these, they arrived on time and we very easy to install. The metal is soft enough to trim with any heavy duty shear. I ordered 2 more for another set of doors, and more than a month later they still have not arrived, with no contact from the seller either.

Does a great job

If you have a larger gap under your door this seal is the bees knees. Had one designed for a smaller gap and it kept falling off. This one is rock solid.

Perfect stop for darkening inside rooms.

Put in master bedroom. Left 1/2" longer on the rubber on both ends so when the door closes it seals against the jam. Also installed so it's compressed against the concrete floor. While this doesn't slide easy, it really made a nice dark seal and reduces sound transmission.
