Works
The media could not be loaded. Fan works as advertised. Be careful, all the edges are sharp, I cut myself as I was peeling away the blue plastic covering the shutters.

20 degree drop, Excellent value!
I installed this fan in my 800sq foot shop and it has significantly improved the working conditions. Aside from venting dust, it has improved the temperature in my shop by about 20 degrees on the hottest days. My shop no shade, is a dark color and has high ceilings. I installed this on the back wall gable about two feet below the peak of the roof. Normally, at 5’ off the ground and at the front of my shop, I would run about 25 degree F hotter than outside temp- so here in Oregon, when temps hit the 80’s, the shop was just an oven. To date, including a day in the mid 90’s, I’m averaging 3 degrees above ambient outdoor temp, with 8 degrees above being the biggest jump. Installation is easy if you follow the directions (I managed to cut a couple inches too wide but was my fault and easy to fix). Match the model number to the opening size and you’re set. The fan is quieter than expected as well! It does pull a lot of air so either have an intake vent or do what I do- install a car door on the garage door and the fan will just pull air through that! There was no included thermostat so I purchased one at the local big box and added it, setting it very low (70 degree shut off). Otherwise, you could hardwire it on, to its own switch, on a timer, or to another switched circuit. The BIGGEST concern about this fan is there is no thermal fuse. So if there is a fire, this fan will run until it loses power or melts, which will dramatically accelerate the growth of the fire- as a firefighter, I’ve seen small fires consume entire houses because fans didn’t shut off. I would not use this in a residential structure without I installing a thermal fuse. This can be fixed by buying a thermostat with a fuse in it! Overall, a great value and I’m purchasing a second one for my house (and a thermally fused thermostat as well?

Died after 3 years of daily use
Purchased in Oct 2019, it has finally quit working after daily use in my shed. I had it set to a timer working around 16 hours a day. It still spins after some help but the bearings on the shaft must be shot because it is much harder to spin now than before. Good thing is that the louvers still work great so I will just have to buy a new fan part. Overall happy with the performance after 3 years from this Chinese made fan. If you feel it should Last longer than that - beware.

Decent little Fan
This fan is doing OK. I believe the electrical connection box is the smallest I have ever seen in my 40+ years doing this work. VERY hard to get 12ga wires connected in such a small box. Shutters do tend to stay open slightly as mentioned in another review, but I believe it is due to a slight natural breeze going thru the building (with the fan not running) and has not been a concern. the 2" flange fits well with the 2x4 frame with 1/2 wall sheeting I created to mount it. I just had to trim all the way to the wall sheeting to prevent water from getting back in the structure. It would be better if the flange was 2.5" deep. It operates pretty quietly, not super loud. I just have it on a on/off temperature controller, not the variable speed controller. Price was great, until the shipping and handling came up to almost a 100% increase in price. Still, for just over $55, it is not bad. The only suggestions I would make is to use 1x4 instead of 2x4 to frame out the mount to allow for the flange to extend out to the J-channel siding trim..

Louver Issue Solved
The fan now works perfectly after a couple of modifications. First, the louvers. Upon testing, if the louvers are opened manually all the way and allowed to drop, they will close completely almost every time, but under real conditions the fan slows to a stop and the louvers rarely close all the way. I examined the mechanism closely and made certain nothing was binding and friction was minimized, but still no luck. The solution was rather simple and cheap. I bought a 3/4" rare earth magnet with a hole in the center and mounted it above the vertical shaft that moves the louvers providing enough pull to click the shaft to the magnet as it approaches its closing position. I also placed another magnet on the upper side of the shaft; this one is not permanently mounted, only stuck, whereas the first magnet is held in place by a screw in the center. The louvers now close perfectly every time and the force of the fan is more than enough to break the field and allow the fan to open. iLIVING should consider this inexpensive modification and save customers a lot of grief. I also disassembled the fan, installed a very tight aluminum screen and now insects have no way of entering my shed through the fan. The screen does reduce the fan's efficiency, but I now have no worries of wasps using it as a pathway inside.

Nearly Perfect
I read all the reviews, both good and bad before purchasing... here is my take. I bought the 12" fan to install in a gable window in my attic. Straight out of the box it felt and looked well built, the louvers function easily and freely and overall if felt sturdy. The installation, except for one small issue, was simple, straight forward and I was done in under two hours which included making a frame to mount it in the gable window. I did run into one minor issue... instead of using a cord to power it, I wired it into my panel on its own circuit and trying to wire even 14/2 in the tiny, tiny box they provide (see picture), is not easy and some engineering/manufacturing forethought at really no additional cost would have had them making a larger box. Other than that, installation was a breeze... except for it was hot as hades in the attic :). After I got it all done and turned it on, it ran smoothly and while yes, it does make a bit of noise, it has to make noise - motor + fan blades + pushing air through louvers = noise. Certainly nothing objectionable. Outside standing near the end of the house where it's installed up in the gable, the noise is noticeable, but then again I know it's there. Like I said, nothing objectional. How long will it last? I have no clue. A definitive, considering the price, 5-Star product.

Much better than expected!
I installed this fan in my garage to vent the heat out in the evenings. Oh boy, did it make a difference! My wife and I were shocked at how well this unit performs - it's strong enough to create a vacuum against the door to the house so that when we enter the garage it pulls the door shut behind us. It's reduce the temperature in the garage by 8-10 degrees Celsius in the evenings (on a hot day would get to 28C and now we can get it under 20C by midnight. The house subsequently is cooler, specifically the bedroom above the garage. It was a big difficult to find a vent cover that I could use on the outside of the house, as I didn't want to leave it open. I found a 14x14 metal cover at Rona for about $35 which has done the trick. The wiring was pretty straightforward (green under green screw, black to black, white to white) but the instructions are terrible. Take a few pictures of your wiring and have an electrician friend confirm your wiring if you're not certain about it. We also purchased the wireless controller system. It works really well and is pretty easy to figure out (again, the instructions suck but it's pretty straightforward). Would highly recommend this add-on. One other thing - the baffles on the back side of the unit are awesome. The overall unit is much more commercial grade/industrial than I was expecting - I was expecting something a little stronger than a 150 CFM bathroom fan but this thing can crush a lot of airflow and is not even in the same league as a bathroom fan. We didn't realize how much of a difference this fan has made, and have recommended it to many family and friends. If you have a garage or crawl space it's worth the investment, you'd be surprised!

Great air mover
Easy to install. Fits inside 16 inch studs in the wall. Simple to connect to power. The instruction diagram makes it very straight forward. Works great. Moves a lot of air and is not too noisy. The main noise is the rush of air coming through the fan. Very satisfied with this product.

good value
Relatively well built, require small hands to install wiring, noise very acceptable for outdoor greenghouse. I have some doubts about long term reliability, not a sealed motor so humidity will eventually destroy the motor. For the price, this is great buy anyway.

Great power Great Price
Installed this in my backyard shed. The package I got does not come with the remote controller or anything. Just the Fan unit. Just need to wire it to the electrical system and good to go Very strong exhaust, and dramatically cooled down my backyard shed during the hot summer days.
