We use this whistle for our Border Collie ranch dogs. It definitely gets their attention, even from far away. We recommend this product.

LOUD

I use this to call back my dog in the mountains. I run him off leash and he has been known to chase rabbits and can venture far away. He can hear this whistle from what seems like 500yds away. Works very well and directs sound to a 90 degree direction instead of 180 degrees.

Great whistle

The dogs seem to respond great to the whistle. It doesn’t seem loud to humans so you blow harder and isn’t annoying like a basketball referees whistle. It definitely catches my labs attention and gets them to obey

Verdict still out

I am not a professional dog trainer but I have trained 2 Labs to hunt and retrieve waterfowl and upland game. I use a Dokken's and Remington brand whistles. Compared to these two brands I found it harder to control the Mega's pea, that is, when making a trilling sound or even a strong blast. The pea seemed to get stuck quite easily or at least it stopped moving. Also, I am not sure the volume of the whistle is that loud when compared to my other whistles. To be honest I haven't stood any distance away from the Mega and had someone else blow it to see if it is louder downwind than the other brands. There is certainly a difference up close ... my old whistles are louder. Construction wise, except for the pea, the Mega appears to be well-made and should last.

Our dog can hunt another year.

Our Large Munsterlander is getting deaf and couldn't hear his commands anymore. He hears this wonderfully loud whistle very well and we have been given a reprieve from retirement. The whistle is made of plastic but plastics are a lot stronger than they used to be and so I am going to hold out hope that it will be durable enough. The directional design of the whistle is great for saving the users ears. If it breaks, I will definitely buy another one.

Stopped functioning after a couple months

Within a couple months of use this thing just simply stopped working.. no rhyme or reason - rinsed it out to check if it was clogged, checked for chips that might affect the acoustics.. just simply stopped functioning properly. Worked well up until the point where it suddenly stopped working.

This Whistle Blows.

Wanted a dog training whistle, but this is not going to do the job. Piercing and painful on my ears, but also not very loud, no variability in tone or timbre even though it has a pea. Had bought two but gave one away and would have given the other away but as I had used it (once) couldn't. Still looking for a decent whistle.
