This is really probably better in general than a wax/oil product that protect the ...
I started using scrapers when I was building my first guitar at the age of sixteen. That was a long time ago. Now I use them for a wide variety of things. In the kitchen, I use them sometimes to help make sure the counter top is clean. It is a slick flat composite so the only thing that the blade will hit is something on top of the counter top. I also use one in the kitchen to clean the hardwood butcher blocks. This is really probably better in general than a wax/oil product that protect the wood but also is an attractant for food. If you scrap a butcher block that you have been using a butcher block protective product on you will be scraping it off the top surface and it looks to me like there is some food elements in the mix so that is a bit disgusting. It also helps mildly to keep a butcher block smoother after it has been abused by knife cuts. I don't try to shave wood off or anything so aggressive, just scrap off anything that is on the surface and I suppose a very minor amount of butcher block might get scraped off from time to time. There are a hundred of uses for a nice simple cabinet scraper. They also work on plastic and other hard surfaces. I used one to shave the plastic handle on a lower freezer door where when the frig was opened up top it drags the bottom freezer door open with it. The scraper was a much quicker solution than sanding the handle down or trying to counter the slightly sagging refrigerator door. And the advise in a wood shop has always been a wood surface is smoother if it is cut than if it is sanded.

You van't beat it
I bought one of these 15 years ago and use it a lot! I made a flat jig/custom made file holder to keep it sharp. It's still in use, it's just gotten smaller with often sharpening, as anything will over a decade and a half. Holds a great edge and has the perfect amount of flex while staying rigid. A card scraper isn't much but has to perform in the way it's supposed to. And this one does, at a great price no less! Pull the trigger, you'll be happy with it!

Quality card scraper. Once I learned how to properly sharpen one.
This is the first tool I have discovered and truly wondered how I did anything without it. Card Scrapers are a secret weapon for cleaning up a board and can reduce the amount of sanding you need to do by several factors. Properly sharpened, I would say you can get a surface that is in line with about 220 -300 grit sanding. The hard part is learning how to properly hone an edge. The process is almost voodoo, and everyone has a completely different method. But well worth learning how. Watch all the You Tube vids, and do NOT skip over proper filing and wet stone smoothing. The most important steps and being able to get a good edge.

Learn to sharpen this and it will blow ur mind
I LOVE this scraper. I had no idea they were so useful and can remove a decent amount of material while leaving an incredible finish. I wish I had bought this years ago

Small. And takes work to bur and use continually
Working with a scraper that is only 2.5” high is uncomfortable. Coupled with the thicker gauge of .80, there isn’t much choice on how to hold it. You can’t grip it on its sides with both hands, you have to place both hands on top. Your hands want more room to grasp it, and my hands are smaller than most folks who will use a scraper. But traditionally I think that is the average height. It takes work to prepare the card AND to use it…. continually. That’s for just about any cabinet scraper. You can either pull or push your stokes on the wood, it depends on what you find comfortable, AND the individual burs you create on the card. Sometimes they seem more effective to pull, other times to push… it depends on the organic uniqueness of the bur and the wood itself. I used the shaft of an extra large screw driver as a burnisher. Leverage and strength is what’s needed to create the bur needed on this card. You have to be well above the height of your vise. I am not tall. I had to stand on a short step so I could have the proper leverage. Yes this is made in Portugal. Eventually I would like to find a taller scraper with a thinner gauge. This one worked well for a walnut slab I worked on.

Great cabinet scraper
It is easy to sharpen and holds the edge for a really long time. It's the best scraper that I own.

Used for removing old oil covering on wooden worktops

Wow…this is fantastic once you learn the trick of sharpening it.
I like it’s quality, it’s thickness means it should last a long time.

Scraper
I've seen these in use so thought I'd try one. For something so simple, it works well and shaves wood with a lot of control.

this saves so much time when removing old varnish
We bought an old table to restore, after looking on youtube I bought this cabinet scraper, I am so glad I did. The old varnish just scraped off in minutes, even nasty dried varnish runs just fly off. It is great fun to use and no harmful chemicals and a one off cost. Time spent sanding is less as well, if you need to remove old varnish just buy this tool.
