Hard Workin’ DA Polisher!

I initially research this product by viewing a video that Scott in Dallas, TX put out. Scott is a professional detail guy who I follow and is quite knowledgeable about new equipment and products used in the car detailing realm. I now own the Shurhold 3500 DA Polisher after his trusted review. This thing does not stall out like other ones did in the past. Getcha self one, you won’t be disappointed!

By far better than McGuire

This review may read more as a negative review about McGuire polisher than a review of the Shurhold. I have owned a McGuire DA polisher for 3 years. I use the polisher on my Sea Ray cruiser so there is quite a bit of surface area to be polished and waxed. Recently, when the McGuire unit once again (3rd time) quit due to broken connection on the power cord close to the point where it attaches to the tool, I decided I had enough and decided to purchase the Shurhold. Wow, I should have done this a long time ago. From the moment I took the polisher out of the box, I could feel the distinct difference in quality. Once I began using the Shurhold, I realized that not only was the job going to be easier, it would be much better. The orbit action of the disc is 10x that of the McGuire thus doing a lot more with a lot less effort. Also the Velcro on the disc provided with the Shurhold has much better gripping action keeping the buffing pad firmly attached while in use. The only negative I have on the Shurhold (and this would be a very small complaint) is the trigger - it seems a little had to activate and push the trigger hold button all at the same time. It’s probably just something I need to get used to. I should mention that I am a huge fan of McGuire polish and waxes and still use them. I assume that McGuire does not actually manufacture their polisher and I would recommend they consider a better supplier for the DA polisher. This is the first Shurhold tool I have owned but based on this one, I would certainly buy Shurhold brand again.

Very powerful and user friendly!!!

Ok! So this is my first time writing a review on anything! PLEASE READ!!! It’s been a month since I’ve bought this and I use it everyday on my cars, and customers cars. This thing is amazing on how powerful it is removing paint defects! Now there are a few things to know ! The backing plate rubs, so if you want free spining then you need a washer mod. The torq22d (I think it’s called that )backing plate from chemical guys comes with a washer mod and is free spining and fits perfect ! BUT IF YOU GO THAT ROUTE, MAKE SURE TO GET A LONGER BOLT!!! DO NOT USE FACTORY BOLT WITH A WASHER MOD PLATE! YOUR PLATE WILL FLY OFF! Go and get a 5/16-24x3/4 bolt and you’ll be good to go on any washer mod plates !! Also, the backing plate that comes with this shurhold 3500 is absolutely trash so throw it away and be done with it! If your thinking bout getting the maxshine or griots, the shurhold 3500 is way more powerful, it transfers great power to the pad very we’ll! The vibration isn’t to bad, but remember that nothing will be like a rupes! But it can do the exact same thing a rupes does, in fact the shurhold 3500 will stall far less than the rupes or any other machine. Most underrated polisher on the market ! It’s great for beginners and pros ! Trust me you won’t be disappointed! And no I don’t work for shurhold

Amazing product, did great job, great price.

Amazing product. Compounded and waxed a 2002 whaler where half had never even been waxed. Before it had no shine and now it sparkles. Removed a great layer of oxidation, no damage from unit even in spots where it basically doesn't get to move around and I was afraid it might cause a burn. This made a huge difference. Variable speed dial is in a great spot where you can adjust it as you go. The heavy oxidation pads definitely did a great job, light one and wax pad were good too. Rinse them out after and they'll be good for many uses. Long cable made it very easy to move around the boat. Wasn't too heavy, had no problem doing this all day and that was a concern of mine. Carry bag is great, good amount of room for a couple extra tools I always carry with it. Highly recommend this product. Boat is getting a ton of compliments around the dock.

The Handle on this is very sticky

I bought this and used it yesterday and that black adjustable handle has a sticky goo on it and is very strange. It's not a rubber handle or vinyl or plastic I don't think. I don't know why it's sticky, but after using this for 15 minutes I had to go wash my hands because they had that sticky crap on them. You need a cloth to wrap around that handle when you use it or you will get that crap on your hands.

Great Polisher!

I started off with the "modded" Harbor Freight dual action polisher, then upgraded to a Griot's DA and came across the Shurhold 3500. This thing is really nice to use especially on large SUV panels. It's pretty smooth compared to what I've owned might be a tad loud though. Out of all my polishers I enjoy using this the most usually, depend on the vehicle

It's good!

The polisher is smooth and strong. I can't believe how much faster the 21 mm is over the 8mm polishers I have. It seems to stall less than a couple of the other 21mm I have used. I've used Shurhold marine products for years, and always had great results with their products. If they stand behind this like they do all their other products (and I'm sure they will) then I'm happy they entered the large orbit polisher business. Reasonably priced, smooth, strong, great ergonomics, and a customer oriented company. What's not to like?

Disappointed

I never write reviews but this polisher has now damaged 2 of my backing plates and polishing pads. When used on speed setting above 5 (I used it on speed 5.5, rarely if ever have I come across a panel that required speed 6), after a short period of time the polisher produces too much heat. It was MELTED the hook and loop of both my backing plate and pad. Not only that, once it did melt through it sent the pad FLYING from the polisher. Once it flew into the middle of the street, the second time up into an adjacent house's back yard. It looks so unprofessional and embarrassing to have this happen while on the job. Perhaps the model I have is defective in some way. I'm not sure but I used this polisher for almost 1 month. The first occurrence of the pad melting happened 1 week into using it. I assumed it was user error on my part and decided to give it one more try as the reviews for this polisher have been great. Even Scott from Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing praised this unit on his YouTube channel. Although, I did read a review on Amazon of an individual that had a similar experience to mine. I wanted to give this polisher a fair chance but after the 2nd time of this happening I can no longer keep this machine. Even the included bag quality is sub par. I'm very disappointed. This is just my experience yours may be better.
