Quality Buffer!
I've used it for a few weeks now without issue. Nicely balanced (make sure you have the wheels centered, as ANY buffer will wobble if they are not!). Do not use the wheel spacers if you plan to use the wider wheels (all of which are very good quality, btw). I am very happy with this purchase. I did mount mine to a pallet-sized wooden table, making a small table to extend off of it so I can buff larger acrylic panels w/o hitting the larger table. Also, it is pretty quiet, which surprised me. I don't even use the speed controller I bought for it since the default RPMs are fine for polishing as is.

Buffing cost savings
We use ScotchBrite wheels on this grinder to eliminate weld burns on corners of stainless steel components, brushed finished. The slim motor body coupled with the extended shafts on each end allows us to more fully consume the entire ScotchBrite wheel which is not a cheap buffing wheel. Our previous grinder had much shorter shafts and a fatter motor body and it was impossible to fully consume a wheel without hitting the motor body as the wheel got wore down. These new grinders allow us to almost fully consume the entire wheel resulting in a very favorable cost savings for our shop.

Great buffer, lots of power!
Needed a buffer to polish up old toy parts that the Dremel was just too small for. Chose this buffer and it came well packed with plastic over the shaft ends that had the nuts on them. There was a sealed packet with the spacers and cups. Very nice heavy unit. Attached the buffer wheel and polisher wheel. Spun right up, fairly quiet, with four rubber feet. I was very pleased that it stayed put and didn’t try to walk over the work bench. I already had the buffing material blocks. So I primed up the buffing wheel and got to work. Grey old tin pieces were up to a high luster in a short time. Be sure to choose the correct buffing and polishing material for your job. Red is jewelers ruge and is for use on softer metals like gold, silver, and copper. Green is used on steel, tin and iron.

Nice Buffer
So, I've had this about 6-8 weeks now and have used it approximately 8 times. It does a GREAT job, IMHO, in polishing copper, silver, knife blades and knife handles, if applicable. I had an old knife (60's model) that had some age marks and small surface rust on it. This buffer did a really fine job at polishing the blade and getting rid of the unsightly smudges, marks, and rust. The speed is acceptable for the kind of work I use it for. One can reduce the RPM's if one uses too much pressure against the wheel. You can feel the speed decrease and you'll get a 'burning' sensation from either the piece being polished or from the compound being used on the wheel. Nevertheless, with practice and experience, one will soon adapt to using just the right amount of pressure to do an efficient job. This buffer machine is heavy enough to where one does not, in my experience, have to secure it to a bench. It does not walk (move from side to side or back and forth) while you're working your project piece. I purchased the six-piece compound sticks to use with this buffer, albeit, I only use two of them at this time. To use the others, I'll have to purchase separate buffing wheels, because one should not mix compounds on the same wheel. Overall, I would recommend this buffer machine for small to moderate work.

Perfect for a knife sharpener
I needed a heavy duty buffer that could be modified so that the spin direction is away from me. You could do this by just turning a buffer around, but then the power switch is on the back. That could get annoying! This buffer is easy to modify so that the power switch is on the back side. Remove 4 screws that hold the rubber feet in place, then two screws that hold the metal base on to the buffer. In my case, I had to temporarily remove a large resistor (I think it's a resistor) which is attached to the inner base. After I reattached the base, I reorganized the ground and power wires so they were not twisted up and I reattached the resistor. I added a Sharpie note on the top side of the buffer reminding users that the spin direction has been modified.

Great bang for the buck!
I was a little hesitant at first about this buffer. I've used more expensive buffers before (Caswell), but this one was a pleasant surprise. Most of my work is on small parts, so a 6" 0.5 HP buffer fit the bill. Out of the box this buffer hummed. Smooth, no wobbles or shakes. It even included two wheels! As others have stated, it is heavy enough with a large enough footprint that you could get away without fixing it to a table/stand. If you're working on larger parts, step up to an 8" 1 HP buffer. Otherwise, this is a great buy!

Great polishing machine!
It's a little work-horse! For its size it's an excellent machine... It buffs to a mirror finish on all steels and aluminum! It has never over heated and works all day....I'm from canada where the temperature rarely reaches 100. There is some vibration but that is the wheels themselves...its easy on the hands. It does need a longer spindle or extension as a piece larger than 8 inches and curved may be difficult to move around it. If your only doing smaller objects it will serve you well...I'm doing up a sportster and its polishing it well. I would buy a larger machine if I was doing more bikes..especially big harleys etc! It will get the job done no matter what the size...is it worth the money...YES!

Smooth
Mine does not vibrate and runs smoothly. Runs very fast so I may look into a speed controller. Price was great at the time of my purchase about 90cad Update: I was looking for some specs (arbor size) and this was on the Powertech website “POWERTEC Bench Buffer features powerful ½ HP motor for quick and efficient smoothing and polishing of metal and other materials. Cast iron base reduced vibration. Specifications- Motor: 120V, 60 Hz, 4A. No Load Speed: 3450 RPM. Max. Buffing Wheel Diameter: 6-Inch. Arbor Size: ½-Inch . Powerful ½HP induction motor for reliable performance . Cast iron base for reduced vibration . Extra long ball-bearing supported precision machined shaft . Two buffing wheels, 4 flanges, and 2 nuts included”

Purchased this buffing machine to create a shiny finish on polymer clay jewelry
This buffer appears to be very well made (heavy construction and powerful motor). No anchoring necessary! I wanted something that would speed up the buffing process when putting a shine on polymer clay pieces. I had been using a Dremel tool but, found the process a little too slow. I'm still learning the proper technique in positioning the pieces to the buffing wheel, but the results are positive, so far!

I just got this and haven't used it yet.
I'll find out exactly how good this buffer works when I need it I have to make a work bench for this and a vise and welding so if it doesn't work properly I guess thats what warranty is for. I'm sure it will work fine for what I need it for anyways.

A very useful small buffer
My mom picked my uncle for this year's Kris Kringle, so she asked me to order this buffer for my uncle because it was on his wish list. My uncle is excited to use it because he deals with lots of antiques and this small buffer should open up lots of options for him to clean up old pieces and experiment with different patina techniques.
