Made in China
Like most products made in China, it’s not made for tall men. You gotta bend over to use it. All brands are the same though. Just different colors and prices.

Failed within 20 Feet - But I'll be fair
Got this to basically replace using a string trimmer for edging. I don't want to be too harsh, but the motor burned out within 20 feet of brand new. I did not abuse it, nor did I do anything out of what would be expected for this piece of equipment. Maybe I just got a bad unit. First impressions, it assembles really easily. Only a few things need to be put together. I did worry about the electrical plug and cord getting crimped where the handle screws to the unit. I managed to get it in there just fine, but it was a little effort to ensure it would not. The unit has adjustable depth, which is why I bought it. It adjusts easily up and down. The spring-loaded adjustment switch is solid, so you don't feel like it will snap out of place. There are bright orange stick on labels showing blade placement and adjustment height, but these were already peeling off when new. I suspect they wouldn't have lasted long. I tried sticking them back on hard during assembly, but they had already peeled back up by the time I was pulling it back apart to return it. I started using it in a place that had been edged. This was so I could verify blade placement, and the little sticker is bright orange and right on target. Being this is the first time not using a string trimmer, I set the unit to the highest setting. In that pre-edged spot, it cranked right up and seemed to run fine. When I got it to the grass, that's when things started downhill. I do have thick grass, but the images associated with the product show it being used to cut trenches for metal garden edgers. Certainly it should handle grass that is regularly edged. It didn't take long for the motor to slow down. I tilted the unit back so the blade would come up. For a few times that worked. I even let it rest a bit while I checked it for the suspicion something got caught around the blade. Nope. It was clean. I also smelled the motor burn, but, I thought maybe it was because it is a new unit. Sometimes that happens. However, not in this case. After three tries and about 20 feet, the motor completely burned out. I did rest the unit for about an hour while I edged with my string trimmer again and cut the lawn, but, even after that period of time, it would not fire back up. So, it is promising, and maybe you have a good unit, but my unit failed so quickly, I don't think I'll try another of this brand.

Works ok, hard to assemble, seems refurbished
I ordered a new Scotts edger, but what I got seems to be either after market or refurbished. The directions stated to ensure the labels were face up, but there were no labels. The middle pole was all scratched up and seemed to be repainted by a spray can post manufacturing. The electrical connection looked like it was re-spliced at some point and then put back together with a sloppy rubber compound, and the bolt that was provided for the additional handle was too short to reach the threads on the wing nut even after squeezing the 2 sides together. I had to go to a hardware store to buy a longer bolt to attach the handle. Finally, the electrical connection had to be manipulated just right to fit into the space provided before you could screw the handle to the motor. Not a simple task. Once assembled, the edger worked ok. The blad spins backwards and will kick back if you are not deep into the edging surface and it seemed to rip some weeds out instead of cutting them. Overall, I think you get what you pay for. This edges, but not to a very high standard. Also, if you are taller, the handle is not adjustable, only the additional handle is adjustable. I'm 6 feet tall and have to bend over to edge our sidewalks.

Good compact edger
This unit sure beats messing with belts, fuel, etc of the gas versions. Sets up easily and is powerful enough to maintain sharp drive and sidewalk edges. Scott’s should include a spare blade so one would know what arbor size and blade length to buy when needed. Limited depth settings is the only real operating weakness - 1 1/2 inch is at least a half inch short of what I like for a longer lasting edge.

Lightweight edger, that's strong, and cuts beautifully.
I bought this edger for myself, because I can't use my husbands large, HEAVY, and cumbersome power tools. My husband saw it, and immediately had to go "try it out".... (ahem). He LOVED it, so much, he almost got the entire driveway and sidewalk done, before it got too dark. I didn't even get to try it out the first day.... LOL. BUT, THAT'S OKAY WITH ME. ( He liked it better than his big, HEAVY duty edger) This edger has passed the " husband" test, in our household, and that's a "biggie", and just fine with me. THANKS...SCOTTS, for a great product, and one that we BOTH CAN USE, without lots of strain and struggle, to get our sidewalk and driveway edged. Ours is a very large, and long driveway, and this does the trick. LOVE THIS EDGER!

Light duty edger!
This edger worked fine for me, just the first time around, set on the 1 inch setting. Just a couple of spots I did have to edge again, but it really did a great job. With this product I would say be easy on it and it seems to do fine, bit just the first time I used it. Don't expect this little motor and blade to to trench 1.5 inches with no issues. I use it just to edge along the sidewalk and driveway at 1 inch depth and it or did great!

Manual leaves a lot to be desired
This device worked perfectly once I figure out what settings to use. The directions leave a lot to be desired. I used it right out of the box at that setting and it would jam up and quit working for a few minutes. When I changed the settings to the 1, it worked great and got my yard done quickly.
