Excellent!
I love this carrier and it distribute the weight well across my back. The weight recommendation is correct and I purchased a small which is perfect for my under 10 lbs puppers. The only downfall is that it doesn't have pockets to store keys or miscellaneous items.

Cats love it, too!
My cats love this carrier. Got them used to it and taught them not to jump out while inside the house. Now when kitty goes on leash walks I have a safe place to protect him when we encounter unfriendly dogs or when he simply gets too tired. It’s perfect! ????????

Runs small
Seems well-made, and the design is utilitarian, modern and looks good. Looks like it will hold up well. But the larger size, that’s supposed to fit a dog up to 20 lbs, didn’t fit my 14-lb Maltipoo- he’s proportioned like a regular dog, not chubby or long torso/short legs- didn’t fit in it. My smaller dog, a Pekingese/terrier mix and 12 lbs, fit in fine. My shoulders started hurting after walking around with her for about twenty minutes. I’m older and have some back trouble, so YMMV. It could use a pocket inside, maybe elasticized along the top, or zipped, for odds and ends- poop bags, snacks, etc.

Outward Hound PoochPouch & Puppak Carrier
When you have a dachshund, or, in my case, a mini dachshund (or any dog with a long back), you have to be very careful about what type of carrier you use. Your puppy or adult has to be able to lay down in the carrier to prevent back injuries with those long backs. Carriers where they have to sit up are just not very comfortable or safe for a long back puppy. Now, finding carriers that allow this is not as easy as one would think. Not many carriers actually allow them to lie down like this. When I saw this carrier, I knew it was one I would need to try. My puppy is only 13 weeks old (9 weeks when I got her) so I could not put her on a leash and just walk her as she was not fully vaccinated and our vet said not until she is 22 weeks old. This means, a lot of carrying puppy in my future. I needed a carrier. This one works and is comfortable for both of us! I put a blanket inside to give her something soft to lay on, and throw a couple of her favorite toys inside and she is happy. PROS: The carrier has a collar/harness clip inside to hook to her harness to keep her safe and prevent her from jumping out. There is a very nice, large pocket on it where you could keep training treats, your keys, or wallet. My phone fits perfectly in this pocket which is very convenient. When she is in the carrier, the shoulder strap is very comfortable for me. The sides are adjustable to make sure she can see, get in and out, and keep her level on my hip. There are nice side vents to allow for air flow through the carrier, not just over it. CONS: I do wish that the adjustable side straps were on the opposite end as the collar/harness clip because she thinks it is a great chew toy but that is the only thing I would see as a con. Overall, I do see it as a great carrier for any puppy but very useful for my mini dachshund and any other long back puppers out there. Would be great if they made it in other colors as well, but the grey is very nice and I cannot complain. If you want a comfortable carrier where your puppy can lie down, this is a great one to try.

Good except for a major flaw
This pet transport bag is well made and comfortable to use, BUT, it has a major flaw. The elastic cord used to close the opening so the dog can't escape is totally useless. Pull it closed and instead of staying closed, the dog can easily push it apart. The push button clasp does not prevent the elastic cord from slipping open, thereby permitting the dog to jump out! The elastic cord is also too elastic. A simple non-elastic cord would have been far better. I installed snaps on mine to keep it shut. I would not recommend this bag till this flaw is fixed.

The Medium sized carrier is roomy for Small breeds.
I purchased the size Medium in the color Grey. I have a Chihuahua mix, she weighs around 7lbs. Despite my chihuahua being small, I would not recommend getting the size Small in this carrier. This carrier is sold at PetSmart but they only sell the size Small, I was tempted to get it but noticed in pictures in reviews on Amazon that it is not quite for dogs that are a little bigger than toy breeds. Overall, I use this carrier to take my chihuahua with me to any long shopping trips so she’s not home alone all the time. It’s roomy enough for her to lay down. The leash hook and opening cinch are a neat added security feature (the cinch hasn’t broken, as mentioned in other reviews) and the mesh panels help with keeping the entire carrier cool, since I live in Texas, a lot of stores don’t crank their AC in the Summertime. The adjustable straps are secure and the padded shoulder straps make it comfortable for long trips. The elastic loops for the excess strap ends are convenient but the excess straps are quite long, I literally have to roll them up each time. I haven’t found a sweet spot in terms of adjusting all the straps to where the carrier isn’t slanting downward at the front with my chihuahua sitting inside. The bottom of the carrier isn’t as sturdy as I was expecting, it is starting to bend after a few months of light use with a small dog in tow. The zipper pouch in the front is a nice addition to the carrier. It fits a bag of treats and a leash, but I wish the zipper had double pulls, instead of one that goes all the way to the bottom, I’ve accidentally dropped dog treats on the floor from opening the zipper and the bag spilling out, double zipper pulls make more sense. The carrier is a little bulky so I keep it in my car, which isn’t a big deal to me. I like the carrier, I hope some small changes can be made to make it a little more convenient. I would recommend this carrier for small breed dogs.

Not suitable for my elderly Australian Silky Terrier
Well this Medium size as recommended arrived, On Time, and Rambo, my 14lb elderly Australian Silky was excited as it meant he could be carried at the front instead of in my rucksack on my back.. To say that it would be fine for a 20lb dog with plenty of room is an understatement ..I am sorry to have to say this, but I believe in being honest about my purchasers and so far this is the only unsatisfactory purchase I have had.. One has to own a very small Yorkshire Terrier or a Chihuahua.. I have given this to my friend who does have a very small Yorkie and it's perfect.. To send it back would be too much Hassle.. I would appreciate some sort to Compensation as I took advice from other purchasers.. Thank you..

Not suitable for small woman
It was quite fiddly to put on but felt sturdy once I managed it. It is quite bulky, stiff and deep with the opening at the top, which unfortunately meant as a very petite female when I bent down to try to pick my 8 kg dog up I couldnt reach around the pouch and lift him up high enough to put him into it. If you are tall and broad then maybe it would be easier but sadly no good for me so returned it.

Not great when puppy is inside
Sadly this didn’t live up to our hopes. The balance just isn’t right when carrying the puppy. I bought a medium bag and pup is only 3.2 kg. The drawstring doesn’t hold and the bag tilts downwards when the puppy is in the bag. I feel as though he could fall out so I end up trying to hold the base of the bag to keep him in. Not ideal when walking my adult dog. I wouldn’t recommend this bag

not what I expected
I had just acquired a puppy who weighed 1.5 kilos. This front pouch stated up to 20 pounds in weight but no chance. A great item, do not get me wrong but if you have a heavy built dog then this is not quite the item for you. I found she could unhook the collar she wears too easily from attached one in the carrier and bag did not tie quite securely enough for our liking. This is not to say do not buy but rather suggest a smaller animal as feel it is more suitable.

A good piece of kit
Was worried that this might not be big enough for my small dog - a Maltese. It is in fact quite roomy and quite sturdy. However, was not the most comfortable fit for me, I'm quite small. 5'3" and 7 Stone. It appeared to overpower me a bit and looked wrong. I think it would be a good piece of kit for someone taller and broader than me. Have returned it but only because of the fit not because there was any fault with the product.
