No separate chime for rear door
As a matter of personal preference, I dislike the Westminster chime and prefer the simple “ding-dong.” The EDC features a separate connection for a rear door, which I was hoping would sound a ding-dong or at least a shorter Westminster, but unfortunately it sounds the same Westminster chime as the connection for the front door. Not sure why they decided to include a separate “rear door” connection as the same result could be achieved by wiring two buttons together. I will try the more expensive PrimeChime Plus 2 next for this functionality, but I really preferred the looks of the more discreet, smaller, single-gang EDC. That complaint aside, it seems well manufactured, was easy to hook up, and worked well. It does exactly what it says on the packaging, but sadly nothing more.

It does exactly what it is described to be
I wanted to replace the large chime that was hanging off my wall, and this did exactly that. volume is fine for me. Only gripe, the screws are kinda short... I need to find longer screws because they will not reach the box. The box is set a little deep... but not so much that it should be a problem.

Just wish it had a volume adjustment
Convenient, small, easy, just needs a volume adjustment then it would be perfect!

This is not for an older home.
I have an older home and it's not equipped with the proper wiring for this doorbell. I gave it 4 stars to be fair because it may work well on other homes. It's not worth the cost of hiring an electrician to upgrade the wiring when I can purchase a wireless doorbell.

Only for replacement of original wired system...
I made the mistake of looking carelessly at product pictures and not fully examining them or reading the product description for this doorbell. I assumed this was a wireless system which uses a radio transmitter for activation. My fault. I was wrong. This is a standard wired system. This unit does require a low voltage wired connection to a doorbell switch. If you already have such wires in place, this may serve your needs. BUT it may not! Why? Because the ringer fits only in a non-metallic electrical junction box and requires line 120 v current to operate. You can't simply stick this ringer in a hole in the wall. You must have an available electrical box, and if you're replacing an old-style doorbell you likely don't have a junction box behind it, but instead have a transformer somewhere feeding low voltage power to the ringer you are seeking to replace. So it's a lousy replacement because you can't just slot it in where the old ringer was on your wall. But if you're using it for new construction or a home without wiring to the door, you don't want to have the hassle of running power lines to your door when a radio transmitter system is so cheap and effective and does not need wiring. If, knowing the above, you still have use for this system, I'm sure you'll find it to work well as other reviewers say.
