A wireless chime extender that works!

This battery free unit emits a loud ding-dong, twice for the front door and once for the back, in a remote room on our second floor. The wired-in chime unit on the first floor, where the transmitter was installed, can not be heard on the second floor, so the STI-3300 resolves that problem. This unit replaces a Zenith unit that required battery changes every few years and finally failed. I had ordered the Heathco Zenith SL-7357-02, advertised on Amazon as not requiring batteries. However, the Zenith unit received did require batteries. After ordering again and still receiving one requiring batteries, I ordered the -02 from a different Amazon vendor and again received the basic SL-7357 that needs 4 batteries. Finally I ordered the STI-3300 that costs more, but works without the need to put up a ladder to change batteries.

Easy to install and works at a distance

I have an office/home theatre above the garage. With the door closed I couldn't hear the doorbell. This doorbell extender seemed like the answer to my problem and it was. I had it installed and working in under 5 minutes. The unit is small enough that it fit inside the existing doorbell, so no wires are showing. The remote unit is on the second floor about as far away from the front door as you can be. It works just great.

Perfect solution to our nagging problem!

We virtually live in the basement (eating, watching TV, doing laundry, etc.), but our doorbell is not loud enough to hear down there! The basement door is closed to control the dogs, making us even more isolated. This device is perfect! The trigger is very small and hides inside our existing doorbell. The receiver simply plugs into a power outlet! Boom! Done! It could not be simpler, and now know when to go get our pizza at the door. :-D

Easy install and it works

Quick and easy install, 10 minutes start to finish. Followed another review to plug the door bell into a socket near the transmitter when pairing and then move it to wherever afterword. Done in no time and no more worries of missing the door bell.

I ordered STI-3300. A box of STI-3300 was delivered promptly. The box contained STI-3331 and STI-3353. I am hard-of-hearing. I do not know if I can hear the chime if I was highly concentrated on something. I think I may not hear the chime at loud if there would be other sound (washing machine, dryer, cooking, fan etc.) near me. I think I may not hear the chime at loud if the chime would be two feet away from my ear with moderate-to-severe loss ear. My other ear has severe-to-profound loss. I do not like to have my hearing aid on at home because there are many noises. Unfortunately I have been unable to find other EXTENDER.

Works as expected

Reading the reviews, I was a little worried the wireless range would be too short or the volume too quiet. I'm happy to report that I have not had range issues, I've tried placing the speaker a variety of locations upstairs in our second story house (the builder only put one wired doorbell downstairs), and the speaker sounded in each one -- including two locations where the signal had to penetrate a couple dozen feet through 3 walls plus the floor. As for the volume on high, well, it's not as loud as I'd hoped. The sound does not carry through a closed door to an adjacent room, so we put the chime in the room we expect to be in the most often. If you're in the same room it's plenty loud, but if you like to keep your doors closed you might find yourself wanting a second chime. I also tried pressing the doorbell button quickly, and the chime sounds even with a quick press (no need to hold the button down abnormally long). If a long press is needed, your doorbell transformer probably needs upgraded. Sadly, I was not able to hide the transmitter inside our wired doorbell and had to put it on top, but fortunately it's small and not too obtrusive. All in all, I'm glad this product is available because I do not want to go to a wireless system and deal with replacing batteries all the time (or spending a lot of money on something like a Ring camera).

Installation Instructions / Model Number / Product Description - Inaccurate or Misleading

I am giving 4 stars because the product worked, though I ordered with much less confidence, as to whether it will work with my existing Nutone wired doorbell. Wiring instructions were straight forward, however pairing step was not described very well. I rolled up my sleeves to get this set up in no time and have it working. As quick as my installation was, no sound heard when the doorbell was pushed. I pressed the program button and heard the beep and assumed it is paired. No luck after several attempts. I decided maybe it is not compatible and got the packing ready to be returned the next day. I decided to read the reviews to see if I am missing any step. Luckily one of our reviewers mentioned about the pairing and thought of giving it one last try. I inserted into a wall socket near to my existing doorbell and requested my wife to push the doorbell while I kept the program button pressed. After four attempts, it seemed to have paired and gave a long ding tone. I hated the fact that the ring tone is going to be just a "ding". Now, I moved the extender to a different place of my house, where I originally wanted it to be, it's about 20 feet away with four drywalls in-between. Pressed the doorbell again, VIOLA, it worked and the ring tone was different too and is acoustic! It is no longer just a "ding". My wife liked it! which means the project is a success! Points to Note: 1) The installation instruction could have been more clear about pairing 2) The Model Number mentioned is not what was delivered. Both the extender and the receiver had different numbers than what is on the box. One other reviewer clearly mentioned this with pictures. Please refer to that 3) Product description mentioned 10 different sounds and 2 different tones at a couple of places, which is conflicting. Why don't they just describe what the product was designed for, without much exaggeration? 4) It is definitely expensive. I would have definitely bought Carlon Extend-A-Chime if it would have been available
