Works fine
My side doorbell sounds like a defective toy, but it works. Front door chime is just what I expected.

Exact Replacement
This Newhouse Hardware CHM1 Door Bell Chime is exactly the same as the 65 year old 'NuTone' chime it replaced. If it weren't for very slight differences in markings, I would believe it came out of the same mold. The chime it replaced was still 'working', but the rubber grommets were so deteriorated that the clangers kept getting knocked off their mounts when struck by the banger. Which wasn't ALL bad since hucksters, peddlers, and "evangelists" just assumed I wasn't home and went away without my even knowing they had been at the door. There are, however, a few people whose arrival I might relish, so a reliable doorbell is beneficial, and since I got tired of fiddling with it every two weeks, I decided to just replace it. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this Newhouse Hardware CHM1 Door Bell Chime on Amazon, and at only $14.00. I should have done this weeks ago. The hardest part of the installation was standing on a step stool and holding my arms over my head for the five minutes it took to do it. I expect this new chime will probably last another 65 years, but by then, I will be 130 years old, and I doubt I will be receiving many visitors. Oh sure... I'll admit that a $200 wireless video doorbell might be fun to play with, but a $14 doorbell and a $6 peep hole have served this curmudgeonly old Luddite quite well, thank you. And Thank You, Newhouse Hardware, for supplying reliable hardware at a fair and decent price.

I can hear it!
The old chime that I replaced was not especially loud. The dog could hear it, but I was not able to hear it in some parts of the house (it's called old ears). This Newhouse chime is pleasantly loud and can be heard in all rooms of house, including the entry area where the doorbell push button is located. It's a great choice.

Perfect replacement for original chime
This was simple to install, and a perfect replacement for the original chime, which was 60 years old. The instructions were clear, complete, and concise, and written by a native English speaker. ;) I did find that it did not chime at first, and the reason was that I should have purchased new dorbell buttons with it. If you are replacing an old chime, get the buttons, too. I have, now.

Goes "ding" instead of "ding-dong"
This is a replacement Chime for my Emerson electric doorbell, using existing wiring and transformer. My front doorbell pushbutton is a Ring doorbell, and connected using the wiring of the original pushbutton. The 45 year old Emerson doorbell chime was still working with a "ding-dong" but the cover was yellowing, and it did get stuck buzzing while we were away. I figured it was time to replace. The NewHouse unit on Amazon was a direct replacement for the Emerson chime. The nice white cover was the same size as the old Emerson. Even the screw holes were an exact match to the Emerson making wall mounting a snap. Wire connections were in the same place, labeled Front, Trans, Rear. My connection was to front and transformer with no rear doorbell. Installed it looks much nicer than the old unit. Once connected the unit worked with a "ding" but not with a "ding-dong" sound. Internally it looks like it should have worked exactly as the Emerson since the hammer is supposed to strike the two different tone bells. It looks like the same design internally. I'm not sure why it doesn't ring the two chimes. I haven't tested it with the standard doorbell button, but only with the Ring doorbell which may be causing the issue. Not a problem for me since the Ring causes other devices in the house to chime. Overall, it seems to be a quality product that will hopefully last a long time.

Works, loud buzz with first note using the 30va transformer
works but with the 30va transformer from the kit here there is a pretty loud buzz that sounds with the first note. Im not sure if this is because of the transformer or the unit but that definitely didn't happen with my old unit. whatever, it works with my doorbell cam definitely better than my old unit did so i'll live with it.

Perfect for the Ubiquiti Protect G4 Doorbell in Europe
I bought this to use with the Unify Protect G4 Doorbell in the U.K. and it works as expected when following the wiring diagram in the doorbell’s setup instructions. I bought this as it was one of the few that I was able to import it into the U.K. to replace my doorbell chime box, as I preferred to wire this up as per Ubiquiti’s instructions rather than using a relay with my current 6VA U.K. chime box. Attached is a photo of it next to the doorbell transformer the Unify doorbell ships with (on the left in gray). I drilled a hole in the side of the two boxes to allow for the Ubiquiti adapter cables, you’ll also need a short run of cable to complete the circuit, only a few cm. Took about 10 minutes to mount and wire up. The time between the two chimes is a little slower than I expected which could be a power related issue but it’s less than a second, the bell can be clearly heard throughout the house which is its function. It has a satisfying “ding-dong” noise that’s to be expected from a mechanical chime. For anyone looking to fit a mechanical chime to their Unify Protect G4 Doorbell in Europe, using the included transformer and adapters included within the doorbell’s box, then this is what you’re looking for.

Needs a bit of revamping to install
We bought this chime to replace our old one that wasn't very loud anymore. Product arrived earlier than anticipated, well packaged and in perfect working condition. The only negative is that the hole for the wires was too small, so my husband had to use his drill to make it larger in order for us to be able to feed the wires from the wall into the unit. Otherwise, installation was very easy. Would definitely recommend this.
