Modkat Litter Tray fits

I bought the standard size due to limited space in our new apartment. It was fairly simple to assemble, it has been sturdy so far, and I appreciate the tidy appearance. We keep a tote on top of it to organize supplies, which is an added bonus for space efficiency. I really like this unit, with the one caveat that it was challenging to find a litter box that would fit. We first tried the Iris open litter box with shield. It was a total disaster in terms of leaks and mess due to its design. However, we tried again with the Modkat Litter Tray and it works perfectly with this! You do need to tilt the Modkat as you're placing it (to get it past the magnets) but it's fairly easy to remove/return whenever needed. If you have a bit more room in your place, I still think going with the larger size unit will make your life easier. All else aside, though, I would still recommend the standard one that I got. Hope this helps!

Perfect as a Cat Bed-Hideaway

I purchased this for my Granddaughter who just adopted 2 adorable kittens. One of them has mild CH so he has problems negotiating stepping up to use the litter box. Due to this, it was decided to use this as a kitty bed hideaway and both cats love it! I would still recommend as a hidden litter box, though. It was so easy to put together, the kids (Granddaughter & Grandson) did it themselves (17 & 13 years old).

Not So Easy

Yes, it's easy to assemble. No tools required, tho' the picture directions could use to be more detailed or larger. A couple of pieces look similar in the illustrations. It seems sturdy enough. I don't plan to pile anything on it - that would disturb kitties and discourage the use of the litterbox therein. That said, they don't like it. I'm using a high-sided box suggested by another reviewer. That box has sharp edges and I suspect that may be one of the issues. Why I'm not totally happy - the opening is a pull-down door. Okay...cool. That said, unless you are always going to slide the box out, you'll have (at least I did) a difficult time cleaning it. I have a long-handled scoop, and it's still a problem. Also, you'll want to make sure the edge of the box sits right up next to the door or the gap causes some cats issues. I was looking forward to this, because it's larger inside than most covered boxes, plus it looks better in my small apartment. But, alas, 'tis not working out. Cats don't like it and it's not easy for me to access. A pull up top might have been a better choice; less "standing on my head". If you always throw out the litter, you'll be pulling it out anyway so this may work fine for you.

I’ll take another one!

This works awesome and looks more decorative than a lot of other litter boxes. Purchased in grey, I’m going to get another one for my other cat honestly, there’s plenty of surface to decorate the top with and the whole front opens and closes with strong magnets for easy cleaning. Very happy with my purchase. I would note this is not a full litter box it’s just a house to put a litter pan in, incase it’s confusing. I got a cheap small litter pan and works great for this one just make sure you check the measurements to fit inside and you’ll be good.

Easy to assemble, sturdy, looks great

Very easy to put together, my cat BartholoMew likes it and it is sturdy and looks so much better than a litter box sitting in my living room. I have another litter box in my laundry room but my cat won't use it if the washer/dryer is running so having a litter box in the living room corner is an unwanted must for me.

Thank god for this product!! My daughter has been wanting a kitten for years. We finally gave in and got her one for her birthday. I'm more of a cat person in general, but I hate the litter box!!!!! This works perfectly. It conceals the litter box enough, I love that I can store the extra litter on top. It's decorative and looks awesome in my laundry room! Also keeps my toddler from playing in the litter! Yuck!

5 star item, 4 star compatibility with pets

This is well made and looks pretty good for a large box of grey plastic. It was easy to put together and seems sturdy. Sadly, as other reviewers pointed out, some cats are going to pee outside the box and then you have to deal with that.... Unfortunately, one of our cats (our 14.5 pound boy) peed outside of the box 3 times the first day, and at least once each day after that for several days until I decided it wasn't the best solution for us without lots of alteration. My cats are pretty fastidious (especially my girl), but they have never peed outside the box accept with this item, and once when my boy had a UTI (all better). If this design had some other method of containing the pee so it was an easy litter change, that would be great. Alas, I just picked up a new box with lid that matched the new bathroom and contained the litter (vs the former open box we used that worked great but was open and a different color.) I got this thinking it would look less 'litter box'-like and we wouldnt have to see poo when walking by. I had even high hopes of using this in an area other people might go (vs my bathroom). I appreciate the effort some people went to alter their versions, even trying different sized boxes. Unfortunately, despite trying other internal litter box styles, this product didn't work for us. I am trying to find another purpose for it, and so it sits for now as a side table to some grey plastic adirondack chairs from Target. Maybe this would be a great little dog house or cat hideway for some if it doesn't work (our little pets haven't gone in it since it's been repurposed, but every pet is different).

Customer service cares!

I would give this great ratings...however the product is missing a piece. I just wish the manufacturers would have a better process at counting and making sure everything is in tact* Edit* AMAZING customer service. I received the missing part in two days! I love this kitty litter. Apparently a lot of items went out with out this part. They are on it now!

BLISS!

My kitty refuses to poop in an open box. Most closed boxes are well, not pretty. I was nervous to spend so much on an enclosed setup, but my home does not have a lot of spaces to hide a box, so this box had to pull some double duty looking decorative. All the pieces are made of plastic, including the screws. It was a breeze to put together, and while not 100% rock-solid, it's solid enough to do its job and hold up for some years. Kitty uses it, which makes me super happy, and well, he's obviously happy since he's not protesting by pooping on my bed anymore. Win-win here.

It's perfect

This looks really nice once it's assembled and it is extremely easy to put together. I bought this because plastic can be cleaned and sanitized, but wood will absorb all smells and moisture. Anyone complaining that this is plastic is failing to understand why that is actually a positive not a negative. Wood and cat urine to not mix. Buy this one. It's aesthetically pleasing and won't stink up your home.

Not so good...

Right out the box, the finish was already scratched up in several places. Also, a piece of one of the legs completely broke off during assembly. I noticed it was just glued and the glue had come apart. I super glued it back on and i was able to continue with assembly. Overall, i don't think this will last a long time due to already showing signs of use right out the box and part of the leg assembly coming apart... Not a great start. Assembly is easy but again, very low quality materials. Feels like i significantly overpaid for this item. It still technically does the job, just not sure how long it was last and quite disappointed with the quality. Not really worth the hassle of returning so will just deal with it but would not really recommend. Can't confirm if this just happened to mine since i only ordered one and don't know anyone else with it but my overall impression was not great at all. Might be better options out there at this price point.

I didn't know how much I needed this!

This was even better than I had hoped. Assembly is a breeze and the quality is great! The materials do not absorb odors at all and my kitties love the privacy this provides. It looks like a piece of furniture so it doesn't stick out horribly and is much more aesthetically pleasing than other models. Easy to clean inside and out.
