This is an MD product made in the USA
This is an MD product made in the USA. This is an exact replacement for my 36 inch exterior door and did not require for me any cutting . My door is a low threshold door and the 3/8 inch gap is the proper gap height for my door. So be sure what you need height wise before purchasing this . 3/8 or 1/2 inch. This one is the 3/8 inch. The instructions say that you must remove the door in order to install this. This may or not be true depending upon your door and the floor gap with the door open. If you can open your door, pull down on both sides of your original door seal and remove it with the door still attached, they you should be able to replace the new one while the door is still installed. In my case , I swung the door open, pulled down the old gasket on both sides and then removed it. I put the new gasket under the door, aligned the open door end flush and pushed up both sides until the new seal was installed. Worked fine. Although these seals are made in the USA by MD building products they are made from globally sourced materials. These door seals are inexpensive and last about 4-5 years and then may need replacement. I considered trying slide on ones and others that might last longer. Well everything today seems to be disposable and so after consideration , decided again to stick with the original product. If your lucky you may on occasion find these in your big box store home supply store. However it was easier and basically the same price to order this online and have delivered right to the house. I would recommend this product , it was exactly what I wanted and expected of it.

Fit perfectly
I loved the simplicity of installation! Being that I’m a female with next to no handyman skills and needed to seal up my front door, I’m exceptionally pleased with how easy it was to install all by myself. I didn’t even need to trim it to fit. It was a perfect fit on its own. Plus, the only tool I needed to use was a flat-head screw driver to remove/pry the old seal. I did not need to remove the door by its hinges, either. There was just enough room under the door, since the threshold sits up from the floor a bit, that I was able to remove the old and install the new with the door remaining on its hinges. No problem. I can see how in some cases you would have to remove the door, but thankfully that case scenario didn’t apply to me. The seal went right in place from applying a little pressure with only my hands. The only thing extra I want to do now that it’s installed is add a little glue to each of the ends to reinforce the seal there due to its securing tracks/treads that hold it in place stop about two inches inward from the ends leaving the ends a bit sloppy or slack. A little glue between the bottom of door and the ends of the seal should do the trick. I noticed that even the old seal had placed a little glue on the ends, as well. I guess they all have that little slack on the ends needing just a pinch of extra reinforcement. Not a problem at all, I’m sure.

Difficult to install if bent in shipping…
This product is an excellent replacement door seal - very good quality, but only 4 stars for bad packaging… If the product gets badly bent in shipping (as mine did, due to a inappropriate box), the rigid part of the plastic gets a kink in it. So, what would normally be a simple 5 to 10 minute project, became a 20 minute ordeal. The splines that engage the seal to the door were badly misaligned about 12” from one end. So, I had to spend a lot of time getting the splines to fully engage, in that area. Please improve the shipping container from a box, to a rigid tube.

Make sure you only need to seal 3/8" gap
I purchased this as a replacement for a front door purchased from Lowes. It's been 4-5 years and it has severe UV damage. I'm assuming they still are not UV resistant so that's something to watch out for. Overall I still think it's a good value. But... Description states up to 1/2" gap, whereas the packaging only 3/8" and I would say packaging is closer to the truth. I'll have to return mine and look for one that can seal bigger gap.

Fit perfectly
Removed old door seal with thin shaft screwdriver without removing the door. (10 minutes) Checked old with new, all pieces matched up no cutting. Put mineral oil on new kerfs slid under door long ways. Then pushed up seal with putty scraper into channels to start. I then used a new 5 gallon wooden paint stirrer slid sideways under the door and lifted it on both sides of the door to push the seal into place. (10 minutes). Any piece of flat wood that fits under it would work just need enough on both sides of the door to lift up.

Easy to modify for a door without channels; good materials
I wanted a good quality (non-box store) door bottom for my out of production non-channeled Peachtree door. Using the box this came in with two pieces of 2x4 inside for a floor level table I removed the door pins and laid the door back down with enough clearance for the door knobs. I then removed the screws holding the box-store flat with a lip door bottom I'd bought some years ago and figured the kerf would need to be cut or hot gunned off the new part but by wiggling the end of each kerf back and forth a handful of times it separated and I was able to easily peel back the entire length of the kerf. The part was still solid (has a nice backer). After matching the screw holes it was easy to attach the new product with new screws (not included but you're not supposed to need them for a channel fit) and prop the door back up in place. It is easiest in my opinion to line up the center hinge and push a pin in just enough to keep the hinge in place and then do so with the other pins; then seat them. All-in-All a very good product. It it came with a flat bottom it would have saved me about ten minutes otherwise nothing to get in a twist over.

Simple replacement.
The seal on the bottom of our front door was worn out, so I ordered this unit. It was the exact same size and installation was simple. Results in a good seal.

Great Packaging by Amazon to get this delivered correctly!
After reading some reviews on how this long narrow strip was going to be delivered, I received this at my door in this 4-foot by 6" Amazon box. I was totally pleased! Inside one end of the box is some packing paper on one end and the MD Kerf Bottom Door Seal. Nicely done, Amazon! The strip is as described and sits nice and flat (as shown by the picture with the seal sitting flat on my window sill). The quality is good. I'll update this after installation. It looks like I have to cut a bit of the ends off as it is about half inch wider than my 35-1/2" door.

Was exactly what I hoped for.
It's been installed and is doing what it's supposed to. I can't speak to longevity at this point, but I'm happy so far. It fit my door perfectly - no need to trim.
