Ten years ago I decided to buy a carpet cleaner , I read a ton of reviews and decided on the earlier version of this . And it was great . It blew up last week . So , I looked at reviews and the top machine was this one , a new and improved version . This version is a lot better . The water tank lasts longer . I like having a separate soap tank . This one dries as well . The only issue I had was the clean water tank doesn’t seem to sit properly , but that doesn’t seem to be an issue . If you want a carpet cleaner , this is it . $200 whereas the machine I bought ten years ago was closer to $400 . You only get a small bottle of soap this time , so pre-order soap . And a word of warning , a buddy of mine says in this machine to only use the Hoover soap , he has no skin in the game . Update ,based on experience with earlier model . Ok I’ve used it a few times now . It definitely makes the water go further . You don’t end up emptying the dirty water every five mins . I pretty much did a 20x14 carpet on two tanks . The separate soap bottle is a great idea , as you don’t mix it with the clean water , you don’t mind throwing the clean water away . It dries . They got rid of the “steam clean “ which had nothing to do with steam , didn’t even heat the water . Now that is deep clean or light clean , which is basically what the steam clean did , by increasing water flow . Being able to remove the nozzle for cleaning is a bonus , so much easier to clean now . Seems they have put a slightly longer cord on this version as well . You CAN do stairs , I don’t have stairs , but you can use the smaller nozzle and hose for that . Just remember you will be dragging the machine up your stairs in some cases . Once again , if you want a carpet cleaner , this is a damn good machine. And if you owned the earlier model , and liked it , you will love this version ,

This does wonders

We don’t have a pet but we do have a toddler. We wished we have purchased this earlier when he was a baby. He would just throw up on the carpet and we just did the small cleanup. But his throw up smell was still there and it really turned our carpet black and smelly…hahaha. We just put a rug to cover it…wasn’t the smart choice. We purchased this when it was our last time at our smaller apartment. Wow, using this carpet shampooer was amazing by doing this really made a great investment. We even got our full refund on the apartment. Very easy to use. Of course it’s very loud because you’re basically shampooing and cleaning your carpet. I seriously think purchasing this is much better then paying someone to do it or renting this equipment. Just do yourself a favor and get this. It’s even funny because me and my husband will fight who is going to clean the carpet. Hehehe. It’s very satisfying.

I wasn't ready.

I purchased this machine along with the Hoover Deep Clean and Restore Carpet Solution. I am very pleased with the outcome after using the combo to clean the carpet in my apartment. I moved in to this apartment about 4 years ago and I'm not sure how well the carpet was cleaned before I took residence, but I can tell you the carpet was not new. Since, then the carpet has not been cleaned. I would have to pay to have it professionally done anyway, so I figured for what they charge I'd get my own machine. That way I can clean it as often as needed. I wasn't expecting miracles but just hoping to get several stains out of the living room and help the overall appearance. However, this thing worked miracles The stains were no match for the machine & solution. I had used spot cleaners multiple times and they hardly lightened the hue of the stains. Using this on the deep clean setting removed them easily. Also, the rotary brushes do a great job lifting the carpet pile and getting rid of the "matted"/worn look. I wasn't ready, however, for the pure vile filthiness this thing would extract from my carpet. The solution goes on clear but the dirty water tank looked as if I was brewing coffee. When you dump the dirty water, I recommend having your emotional support animal with you. Having to emotionally cope with the dirt and grime this thing picked up was the only downside to using it. Between myself, a teenager, and my German Shepherd Mix, I figured we tracked in some dirt...but I was in NO WAY expecting what I saw. I'm just glad that funk-nastiness is no longer in my carpet. I highly recommend this little machine. My carpet looks better than the day I moved in.

Not really a problem if you're taking your time to make sure you are doing a good job and getting it right

The Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Cleaner works extremely well for the price. One of the big advantages of this is the ability to take apart the brushes on the bottom to clean out each one individually when you are finished. The only thing I'd change is the size of the clean water container. If your carpet is heavily soiled and requiring several passes you will find that you are filling the tank 4-5 times per room. Not really a problem if you're taking your time to make sure you are doing a good job and getting it right. (This is why I still give this product 5 stars) Also if you like to rinse after you have cleaned you will be filling the clean water tank even more. It's extremely quick to set up and begin to use so it's not really going to be a hassle to use this even for a quick cleanup. The mechanical furniture and stair brush is also very nice and works well, getting even the toughest stains out. Powerful suction also means your carpets won't take long to dry as most of the dirt and water are removed after a couple of passes. Heavily soiled areas may take a bit longer to dry due to the extra water and cleaner needed but I think it's worth the extra dry time to be able to get stains out with such a low priced but great working cleaner.

Works well but not as well as expected.

The media could not be loaded. I have had 2 weeks or so to use it on my rugs and carpeting. Here are my thoughts: First of, the cleaning solution seems to work pretty well. There are stains in places that have been there for months and they were cleaned with relative ease. Speaking of ease though:going over the carpet slowly and deliberately is the best way to go. If you go too quickly you'll risk the solution spilling. So you need to take your time going over your cleaning area. My biggest critique？Definitely the noise. It is a very loud vacuum. In fact, I used it one day and my neighbor was out raking at the time. The next day I ran into her and she commented on loudness of vacuum. In time I will get used to them all. Good at lifting stains, but loud and cannot be moved too quickly.

Very good product!

My partner and I moved into a condo unit with wall to wall beige carpet. I regretted it until I purchased this machine. I mean, I still kind of regret it because a wall to wall carpeted living space is extremely difficult to maintain. We have a couple things working against us: 1) we are both very clumsy and 2) we have a cat who decided to have stomach problems the second we moved into a carpeted place. We have a smaller carper spot treatment cleaner for her barfs and other spills. Here is my advice regarding this hoover machine 1) spot clean the floor to the best of your ability before hand. Because this machine is for large areas and won’t remove small set in stains. 2) spray a high traffic spot treatment on the high traffic areas. In our case, all areas are high traffic areas so I sprayed the whole floor. 3) clean your floor during the day time. I found it very difficult to clean the floor when there wasn’t enough natural light coming in because I couldn’t see light stains. However, if you have adequate lighting otherwise, this shouldn’t be an issue. 4) start early because it takes a really long time to do a thorough job. 5) maneuver the machine slowly over the carpet because the agitators work to clean the carpet as you pass over it. 6) if the floor is really dirty you may want to do 2 washes and rinses. It takes a long time for the water to run clean after rinsing if your floor is very dirty so you may have to do a couple washes and a couple rinses. But don’t over saturate the carper because that could cause mould problems. 7) IMPORTANT: Make sure as you are cleaning you are constantly monitoring the water/solution tank. The machine runs out of water and solution a lot faster than you think. And if it runs out and you notice it after it’s run out, you will have a hard time knowing when it ran out so you will have to go over the previous sections again. 8) make sure you don’t let the dirty water tank get too full because it won’t suck up anymore water. I empty it when it’s about 75% full. 9) the hose attachment is extremely tricky and difficult to use and the attachment parts don’t work very well. Perhaps I didn’t really give it enough time because I have a smaller cleaner I used instead of struggling. 10) it takes about 24h to dry fully so you can’t move furniture back on until after it’s dried. I did our apartment in sections throughout the week for this reason. Overall, I’m very happy with this product. It’s pricey but if your using it every few months it’s much more cost effective than paying someone to do it or renting a machine. It’s shocking how dirty our floors actually were. I didn’t even notice how bad it was until I cleaned them!

Best investment ever!

Very impressed with this unit! I have carpet over 10 years old and was cleaning it with a regular rental machine every year. I could not believe the amount of left over residue, hair, dirt and other grime that was pulled out of the carpet using this machine! I've never seen my carpets so clean! I love the ability to wash and rinse - the carpets took a little longer to dry, but the results were amazing. The machine is designed lightweight and easy-to-use, as easy as vacuuming! The upholstery and stairs tools work great as well. I am regretting not buying a machine like this years ago. Don't waste your money on rentals anymore and save some money. Best investment ever! As with most Hoover machines I have purchased, I am sure I will enjoy many more years of clean carpets! Hoover - my sinuses thank you!

Powerful and efficient

I've always had the carpet cleaner from the competing large company. Mainly because of price and availability. Through the years though, I came to the gradual realization that those ones were - sorry to say - crap. They broke down 1-2 years after first use. I researched and found out the Hoovers got way better reviews. But when my carpet cleaner died, yet again, I couldn't find any Hoovers in town. So I bought yet another of the terrible machines - probably my 6th or 7th. Well, just shy of 2 years, that one died a couple of weeks ago, just as I was finishing the carpet. I broke down and ordered this Hoover from Amazon. I ran it today and I absolutely love it. And, as another reviewer mentioned, the water was absolutely pitch black - this only about 3 weeks after cleaning with my previous dud machine (and there's been no mud around). Advantages Hoover has over the other: - tank set up is much better - soap is in separate compartment so you don't have to clean out the tank at the end (the other one clogged if you left the "clean" water in there while stored) and you don't have to measure the soap - the dirty tank is totally separate from the clean, which allows you to fill and empty independent of each other and allows you to leave the clean tank as is at the end, it also makes it MUCH easier to clean out the dirty tank thoroughly - the dirty tank also has an easy empty spout - for emptying quickly while still cleaning - you don't have to take the tank apart to empty it (less spillage and mess) - rinse feature allows you to take out the soap after the carpet is clean - I always wondered about all the soap left in the carpet with the other machine and that it had to be an attractant for more dirt - hose and accessories don't store on the machine - they come in a bag that can hang on the machine when stored - that means you're not pushing the hose and accessories around all the time Time will tell whether the Hoover has greater longevity than the other, but right now, that doesn't even matter - it cleans way better and that's enough of an improvement for me. Sept 2016 update - touch wood, we're still going strong. still love this machine. Recommended it to a friend and she also loves hers. Jan 2020 update - still going strong, still does great job. Highly recommended.
