Love this
Great quality. Looks nice in our kitchen and has drastically improved the mess our dog creates eating his meals. Bought one for our other house!

This thing is fine, but understand the pros and cons of what you are getting.
This thing isn't half bad. No, it isn't a piece of fine furniture, and the finish was a little uneven in spots, but overall it seems to be reasonably well made. It doesn't look hideous or cheap in real life, and the recessed bowls and wood finish do really help it to blend into the rest of the decor a little bit better. The quality of the metal bowls is fine, and they hold enough food to be adequate for our two huskies (we ordered the taller size). Now that I look at this, I think I agree with the other reviewers that suggest this is really best used as two food bowls. If you put water in one of the bowls, when your dog drinks from it, it is going to spill all over the top and eventually wreck it. So in that way, it is a bit impractical. But this is a case of pick your poison. You can get a plastic set that is going to look completely utilitarian and ugly, or something like this which looks a lot nicer and fits into your house more unobtrusively. But the penalty is you'll need a separate water bowl. Given the relatively prominent spot my dogs' bowls are located, this is a sensible purchase for me. But if your dog bowls are tucked off in some out-of-the-way mud room or something, and you don't really care what they look like, you could probably find something cheaper that would work just as well or better. Before I installed it, I ran the bowls through the dishwasher just to get any manufacturing residue off, and I got out some furniture polish to wax the entire thing to help protect it from the inevitable spills and slobber it is going to be hit with. We'll see how it holds up. I am wondering whether my dog's tags are going to smack the edge of the wood as they eat and tear it up, but time will tell on that.

Feeder is beautiful and nicely finished
I bought the 4 inch feeder for my two adult cats who needed a place where they could eat wet food side by side. This feeder worked out wonderfully. It is the perfect height for my tabby and whatever cats. The feeder is very solidly built and is beautifully finished. I've used it for over seven months now and it still looks like new even though wet cat food often gets on the finish. The feeder comes with two stainless steel bowls that are high quality and go through the dishwasher well. For water, the bowls would be perfect but for dry or wet food, they are a bit too deep for pussy cats and probably small dogs too because the bowl sides are straight up causing the food to be pushed into the corner/edge and then left uneaten. That said, I now hardly ever use the stainless bowls because I found that I can simply use my existing Corelle Impressions 7-1/4-Inch salad/dessert plates with the feeder and then pop them into dishwasher, plus they have a very slight bowl to them so the cats can get to every bit of food. (I can also use some slightly smaller Corelle plates that I bought at the grocery store that also work perfectly.) The only thing I don't like about the feeder is that there are three little clear rubbery buttons along the inside edge of the feeder to keep the bowl from sliding around. I wish they used four buttons instead because depending on which direction the cat licks its food, the bowl (regardless of whether it is stainless or glass/stone) can make a clank-clank sound. This is especially noticeable when using the stainless steel bowls. If I had to buy another feeder, would I buy this one again? Sure would now that I know I don't have to use the stainless steel bowls.

Awesome! Love this product!
Im a member of Hauspanther.com and this arrived in my subscription email advertising the product. I LOVE this product. Not only is it sturdy it's modern and aesthetically pleasing. If you are into modern type decor this is for you. The wood is a deep cherry and it's perfect height for cats (short). I've already told a few people about this and they bought one the next day. Buy the short for your toy breeds and cats, tall for medium/large dog breeds. The bowls come out easily to wash and they stay in place. All of my feeding and watering products are steel due to cats having plastic allergies which causes cat acne (the small black dots under their chin). So far they have not knocked this over or flipped the bowls. I really wanted something to where I could come home and not see a bowl full of kitty crunches thrown across the kitchen floor. Im sure you know what I am talking about LOL! A lot of our feline friends like to play with their food. Could it be for entertainment? Who knows. I have no idea. Coming home to a thousand pieces of crunchies to pick up isn't exactly what I would call fun. Maybe they just need to test us to make sure their "staff" is still available LOL! However I will mention that I do NOT use this dish as a water bowl. I have a completely different watering dish which is the stainless steel 360 fountain by Drinkwell. That is also another amazing product. I wouldn't recommend this dish for watering purposes because the wood will warp. If you have a messy drinker IE: larger dogs I wouldn't recommend it. Get a separate dish for that. I have two cats so two bowls of food is great for each one to eat separately. Anyways, this dish is super sturdy no more crunchie detail!

Nice, but for the price I expected better
Looks good but isn't really the quality product the price indicates. I'm using it for dry food only so think it'll last but if your planning on getting it for use as a water bowl I'd give it a miss, it's soft wood heavily lacquered and I think it will peel and split quickly if it gets wet. The care comments suggest polishing it with mayonnaise! I really do not see anyone using a product that can cause food poisoning when off on their pets food area - I know when polished the chance of that is probably nil but I would not risk it. Perhaps an inert oil would be more suitable?

Great Pet Feeder
I bought this for my 10 year old lab who has arthritis, I thought that elevating his food and water might help him a little. Unfortunately he is a creature of habits and whilst he would eat from the one bowl because he could eat fast, he wouldn't use the other bowl for drinking. I have no understanding as to why this is. So I had to swap back to his larger bowls on the floor! I have passed on the feeder to a friend who's do eats and drinks from it without any problem. It is well and sturdily built and easy to clean. My dog just loves routine.

my big norweigan forest cat is quite happy though as is my little exotic shorthair baby
This definitely looks the part - although not sure if the pussy cat one's bowls are a touch on the large side! my big norweigan forest cat is quite happy though as is my little exotic shorthair baby. just have to put a fair amount of biscuits in the bottom to fill it up a bit!

Would reccomend
Extremely elegant looking, seems like a decorative piece for the home and not a tacky/ bulky looking pet supply. Also feels good to see my pooch not have to bend her neck so much to drink or eat- seems more comfortable for her!
