Works well with fairly accurate temperature gauge

Needed a larger grill box for larger tailgates. Grill foods very well with the Camp Chef 2 burner camp stove. The only reason I rated this a four star was it was listed as a cosmetically damaged item- some minor paint damage and a slightly out of alignment top which was very easy to correct. Discount made it definitely a good value.

Great addition to Camp Chef 14" system

Used the grill box on a 14", 2 burner Camp Chef explorer. Did a great job cooking chicken, brats and pork steaks. Would give it 5 stars, but found the middle of the grill is much cooler (heat dissipation not as effective, but expected) and there is no collection for excess drippings.

Great little box, until it rusted away 6 years later.

The good: I've owned this box since the Fall of 2011 and it has remained covered, outdoors, and used several times a week since. Unlike some of the reviews here I never found the grate cleaning to be an issue, in fact I found the design to work great for roasting most vegetables without the need of additional accessories. This thing will absolutely sear a steak to perfection in minutes under 60k burners, however I would suggest purchasing some ceramic bricks and steel diffuser plates to help distribute the heat more evenly... in my case the back corners were too hot, and the center front was cold. The Bad: Rust... and lots of it, which eventually lead to its demise. I'm no amateur, this was with a proper canvas cover, frequent cleaning, seasoning, and using high heat paint+sealer on the exterior at the end of each summer season; the effects of living on the Mid-Atlantic coast have taken its toll. You can keep the box itself in good order but the areas around the welds will eventually break down first, and after that the rear hinges will begin to warp and eventually break off. The wish list: Campchef has at least acknowledged their products do not fair well on the coasts, and have begun to release 100% stainless steel variants of their ranges... however they have not released a grill box variant for the 2-burner models yet. If someone from the company is watching, please create a stainless steel box that matches your new stainless steel range- outside of aesthetics you committed to 1/2 the battle by only addressing the lower half of the problem.

Camp Chef Quality

I love this grill. I've had multiple Camp Chef stoves for years and have always appreciated the quality of their products. This grill is just an extension of the stoves great design. The ease of setup and the grills quality parts make this a must have accessory for your camp chef stove. Whether in the woods, tailgating at your favorite game or just in the backyard you will want to use the grill any chance you get.

Works great but hard to clean thoroughly

I end up purchasing it. The grates did get rust but it is not end of the world. Just use steel wool to get rid of rust. Due to the numerous grate slit-like holes, a thorough cleaning requires a lot of effort. You not only need a steel/bronze bbq brush but one with a wedge blade on the top to help you clear cruds on the slit-like holes.I realize the rust is due to moisture left on the cast-iron grate, I forgot you can't leave water moisture on the cast iron. So after you wash/clean it, make sure you dry it off. You probably can clean it without water by turning it on high heat to burn every thing to black bits. Then just brush them off. Hinge seems kind of weak because the bbq cover is heavier than the base when the grates are removed. Also there are 2 grates that form the complete surface. So you can remove one grate to use it for another purpose.

I like it... but...

I have only used the bbq grill attachment once but it did the job. First, you must burn the newness off and that takes awhile. I was concerned about dripping grease but with just one steak it burnt the grease off, and never reached the ground. I gave it three stars mainly because again, the quality just isn't there in the materials in how this is made. I used the burner with the griddles on my last camping trip. I cleaned them up put them in the bag (in the garage) where they stayed until using the new grill attachment. When I was setting it up, I already saw rust around the tubes that the burner is surrounded by. Remember this is after using it only once, and stored in my garage. The design could use some work as well. The knobs on the burners get REAL HOT with the grill attachment on. I mean burning hot! Bad design. Speaking of the knobs... it is very hard to tell what setting they are on if you can't see the flame with the grill attachment on... more bad design. I can already tell if one doesn't keep this thing indoors and away from moisture, it isn't going to hold up at all. What I have decide to do is by some flat black high temperature grill paint and put a few coats of that on this so it will last awhile. If you can't keep this stored indoors it will rust away in front of you. So, overall I like the idea of it. The week I used the burners on my camping trip it worked great and I think the grill attachment works fine as well. My chief complaint is quality of materials used in building this grill/burners.

Love all three

We Go camping all the time, and have for years. We used to have to carry three different items: a stove, a griddle and a Weber grill. Now we can do it all with a 2 burner stove with a griddle and a BBQ box. Love all three. All work great. I would recommend for anyone who think they may have the need. I have four camping families that have seen mine and have already bought or are in the process of purchasing the whole system. Love it all!!!

Opened the box and everything was wrapped properly with styrofoam on corners and everything this store was damaged before packing at factory looks like a grind mark from a grinder not impressed hopefully it works better than the care that was taken when it was made would send it back but we need the bbq for Father’s Day weekend which is 2days away my wife and children are very disappointed as well as I am as my birthday is on Friday june 14th also which they purchased this gift for me we plan on using it for our camping trip this weekend not a very happy camper
