Works for my Craftsman Router

I "misplaced" the 1/2" collet for my Craftsman Router [Model 320.17543]; the router (from 10 years ago) that came with a fixed-based AND a plunge-base. Thought I'd try this collet; and glad that I did. It works great! Fits the treads of the router, and holds tight to the 1/2 bits I've tried! Definitely worth the $17 I spent.

It fits well. It does its job. Not as beefy or sturdy as the factory collets.

DOES NOT FIT OLDER COLLET STYLE DEWALT ROUTERS

Part was ok but listing suggested would fit older DeWalt router and did not.

works just fine on my DeWalt router

works just fine in allowing me to mount 1/2 shank bits on my 1/2" drive DeWalt router. I don't doubt it would fine on other router brands as well.

Too lightweight for a 1/2” router bit

The collet is is too lightweight for 1/2” shank bits. You can see in the photos that the wall thickness of the nut is very thin. I would not be surprised if if split or cracked if tightened. It is also a lot lighter in mass/ weight. The Hitachi is 33gm, bighorn 24gm, 27% lighter The photo shows an original Hitachi collet on the left, the big horn on the right.

This collet chuck is not compatible with the Hitachi M12VC router

The ½’’ collet chuck screwed on well on my Hitachi M12VC router but there is a big vibration on the router table. This is due to the collet chuck that doesn’t stay tighten on the half inch router bit shank. It’s not possible to use the router with this collet chuck because the bit becomes loose and wobble. This collet chuck is definitively not compatible with the Hitachi M12VC router.

Collet damaged after a weeks work

Was using a cabinet router bit set and noticed high vibrations as other people had mentioned. After changing the router bits after last use, it had broken to pieces. Will be purchasing a different collet.

Fits Mastercraft brand

Have a MasterCraft Router I bought from Canadian tire a few years back and this piece fit it just fine.
