Big Horn 18100 Phenolic Router Table Insert - Excellent Quality
This Phenolic Router table insert is very similar to all the other phenolic inserts available. I have attached a diagram of its measurements and specs there is no instructions or specs to be found. I installed it on my hand built router top and table. It is a great improvement over not plate. Look on youtube for how to install the MLCS 9338, Peach Tree Deluxe Router Plate, DCT Universal , etc. Key to installing a phenolic plate is to use multiple leveling/support screws to ensure the plate does not warp over time with the router pulling down on it. Other than that, I found it a t works great bit required quote a lot of work to complete. I knocked one star off for no instructions but you can download the MLCS 9338 instructions for reference.

diy only
I've been doing a lot more with my new router and I needed to mount it in my home-made table. I ordered this insert and the insert itself has performed wonderfully. But it took a lot of guess work to make it work. This insert comes with not one word of instructions. After a lot of trial and error I got it mounted successfully. After a few hours of operation it was out of adjustment. The height adjustment screws adjust themselves and epoxy doesn't stick to this plastic. I'm waiting now for superglue to completely set and hope that will hold them. Otherwise? Shims? I don''t know.

outstanding table insert
I looked at a lot of router table inserts before deciding on this one. I was a little concerned about the magnetic levelers being able to work as well as some of the more elaborate ones on the market. Well forget that, this insert works fantastic!! After cutting the opening for it, (just slightly deeper than needed), drop it in and mark the spots for the magnets , after removing the set screws, drill a 1/4 inch deep hole for the magnets to set in and epoxy them in the holes. That's it, you install the plate and adjust the screws till plate is even with table. Works great!! Insert is flat, level and the insert rings work well. Glad I picked this Router Table Insert and would surely recommend it to anyone who needs one.

You get what you pay for.
You get what you pay for. This was very low priced router insert plate. There for it is a good learning tool. There were curves in it that had to be straightened out so I cut 3/4 inch plywood strips and screwed them along the edges on the bottom of the plate with drywall screws. I don't have a drill press so I drilled holes for the router mounting screws with a hand drill. I did not get them located quite right so I had to ream them out. I have two routers so that was a chore. When I tried to install the routers the plywood strips on the bottom interfered with the handles on the routers. So I had to drill new holes in the plate for that. This time I set the router on a piece of paper and cut out a circle with the router as my template. Then I put tape on the paper so it was sticky side up and set the router on the paper so the router was on the paper and the tape could hold the paper on the bottom of the router. Next I turned the router upside down and shaded the paper so the screw holes and ribs on the bottom of the router , for mounting the plate showed up on the paper. Then came the best part of the table insert. There are circles and lines radiating out from the center of the plate for aligning the router. I taped the paper to the plate and drilled out the new holes through the pattern with my brother's drill press. The holes were not perfect but they were good enough that the screws worked the first time when I went to install the table insert to my router. Now the router can be adjusted and the insert is flat with the router table I built, and it all works pretty well together. I have used it all the help build some chairs.

So far, so good
3/8 Phenolic Resin Plate. I remember that smell from HS shop class. Drilling it and countersinking flat bottom holes was a breeze. My only gripe it that there was no instruction, but then, who would but a blank plate?

Mixed Bag
The features and construction of this insert are great. The dip around the rings is not. In researching this insert, I came across several people commenting that this dip is intentional - a feature. Whatever the case, the dip (about 3/32") makes it almost impossible to get a consistent depth of cut with shorter pieces. Long pieces are just affected at the ends. Unfortunately, I installed and used it before noticing or I would have returned it.

Just received it.
Just received the insert. It looks well made. My only disappointment was that there are no mounting instructison with it. I'll figure it out and see how it goes.

Big Horn 18100 Router Table Insert
Product is great I just found the leveling magnets to be a bit troublesome. If you don't have them perfectly snug they lift up when you lift the table insert

Returned for refund.
My first impressions was that this item was well made and of a quality that would support my 12 pound plunge router. Once I opened the package I placed it on the cast iron wing of my table saw and noticed that it didn’t lay flat. Using a level I verified that the baseplate had a concave. If it didn’t have this flaw I think I would have been happy with the item. Returned with the intention of buying a machined aluminum baseplate.

Levelling screws are screwy
The levelling system for the Insert plate is not very good. It relies on Set screws and magnets. The magnets hold the grab screws in position they are located in all four corners of the plate. When the router starts to vibrate the grub screws back out. I think it’s because the threads in the plastic insert plate Start to wear out, and the screws begin to loosen as You can probably use Teflon tape around the threads to give it a tighter grip but eventually it will start backing out again. Besides that the plate is good enough for what I use it for. It doesn’t flex or bow. I have Drilled a hole on The one I have for a router lift kit

not intended for big routers, I guess
I set my Freud stationnary router to the plate but it was too heavy and I noticed that it bent the plate a little just by the weight of the tool. So I recommand to brace the plate underneath and not to rely on that .250 backelite plate.

Not flat
Put a straight edge on it immediately after receiving it. Its out >2mm from the sides to the centre. Bows down, could only imagine the weight of the router would worsen the bow.

Very Nice.
I put it in but it does not give enough information on how to raise and lower it once it is installed. Since this is the first one I have done I would think a bit more information is needed, for me anyway.
