Works great with Alexa! Here’s what you need to know.
This smart garage door opener idles just what it is supposed to do. It is easy to install. I did watch the YouTube videos online, but they really just guide you through the steps in the app. Basically: 1) download the eHomeLife app and open the app 2) plug in device (in house at this point) 3) connect your phone to the device and then the device to your WiFi network 4) test by placing the two sensors together and then separating them. You should get a notification the the door was closed (sensors together) and then opened (sensors apart) 5) now take the device to the garage. It will sit on top of your garage door opener 6) plug in the device 7) connect the 9” blue and gray wires to the terminals where your wall switch wires connect. I don’t think it matters which color attaches to which terminal. 8) take the long sensor wire and take the sensor end to the top of the garage goor. Also take the second small sensor piece with you. There will be more than enough wire. Just let it drape at this point 9) Attach the wired sensor to the wall very close to the top of the garage door. Attach the small magnetic sensor to the top of the door, close to the wired sensor. You should get a notification to your phone that the door was closed if it is close enough. I tested opening my garage door to be sure there was enough clearance when the garage door was opened to not knock off the sensors. 10) attach the wire to the wall and ceiling, starting at the garage door and working backwards to the opener. I used 3m Command (small) Decorating Clips ($5 at Walmart) to attach the wire to the wall and ceiling. 11) I bundled up the extra wire and attached it to the frame supporting the garage door opener to the ceiling. 12) use the 3m double sided tape included to attach the device to the top of the garage door opener 13) test by tapping on the icon in the app to open and close the door. Also test the button on your wall switch to be sure it is still connected also. Install is complete- finish setting up in the app and Alexa: 14) in the eHomeLife app, go to device settings ( click on the very faint light gray small icon in the upper right corner of the Garage Door Opener icon). Under Voice Control, set the pin code. 15) go to the Alexa app and enable the eHomeLife skill 16) in the Alexa app, do to Devices / All Devices and click on the device for the garage door opener device. Enable voice notification and set the pin to the same as you entered in the device setup in eHomeLife earlier. 17) You should be done! 18) When asking Alexa to open the door, (for security) it will ask you for your pin before opening the door. However, if you give the pin to Alexa in your request, it will open the door without a second prompt (“Alexa, open ‘My Garage Door’ with PIN XXXX”) 19) You don’t need to specify a PIN when closing the door.

Works great and super easy to install
I have a double garage with two single garage doors and openers. I purchased two of these Refoss Smart WiFi devices to remotely control my garage doors. My garage door openers are two different brands and one is a Overhead Door Legacy model that is probably 25 years old and the other is a Liftmaster Professional Formula 1 that is 8 years old. About 1 year ago I purchased the Liftmaster MyQ smart opener for the doors. It was a pain to get installed and working. Took many days and several calls to Liftmaster and we finally got it working. But the phone app was slow and it never just worked when I needed it. Recently the battery in one of the MyQ door sensors needed to be replaced. After replacing it, the door stopped opening and closing using the app. It would only indicate if it was open or closed. I came across the Refoss device and decided to try them. I am glad I did. they were very easy to install. Basically just download the eHomeLife app to your phone and follow the prompts. The app walks you thru connecting the device to your WiFi and also each step of the hardware install. It took about a total of 30 minutes to install and setup both. The Alexa and Google integration also works well, something that was missing from the MyQ smart opener that cost 3 times as much as these. You do have to setup a PIN code in the eHomeLife app to use Alexa or Google voice commands. The Android version of the app includes a widget you can add to one of your screens for quick and easy access to opening/closing the doors. Other features include: configurable notifications each time the door opens or closes; a notification that a door has been open for a set amount of time; the ability to have the app automatically close a door that has been open for a selected amount of time; a notification at a set time each evening if a door is open; and searching for/installing firmware updates as they become available. Overall these are very impressive devices.

Stopped working. Procedures for installing / reinstalling very confusing!
UPDATE 6/18/20 I raised my rating to 4 stars. These things work most of the time. And it's very cool to open and close my two garage doors with just a voice command, esp when my hands are full. I have smart plugs, smart cams, garage door openers, etc. They can be a pain in the neck, suddenly either Google Home or Alexa can't reach them. Then it's troubleshooting time, reboot the device, reboot the wifi router, reboot the wifi router extender, all that. There's a tendency to install these devices, they work, then put away the installation instructions who knows where. I'm starting to get disciplined and filing them all away in a folder called "Smart Home." Do these devices still work if they depend on the manufacturers servers, then if they go out of business, we're left with dead hardware? Beats me, but I'm slowing down on getting more smart devices. (Not to mention the privacy concerns. Why would China want to know every time I open and close my garage doors? Beats me.) I have several smart devices around the house. ORIGINAL REVIEW I have two units. They worked for a while, then stopped "unavailable" or something. Very confusing install procedures. Reset button not doing its job. Supposed to blink amber and green, just stays on green. These smart home devices are a huge time-suck when they stop functioning properly.

Satisfactory overall
I'm not the most handy man and was a little hesitant to buy this after watching some installation videos on YouTube, but it's actually pretty straightforward. Reached out to the support team to check the compatibility with my garage door setup and the response was helpful. The device is fully functional and linking it to the app was pretty straightforward. A couple of drawbacks though. First of all, the little sticky pads for the sensor wire that come with the package are crappy and got unstuck within an hour. Second of all, while linking it to Google Home was easy, the Voice Assistant prompts the user for a PIN, which I could not find anywhere. After some good olde Google search, I realized that you have to press on the empty space of the Garage icon, and not the actual garage door portrayed on the icon to access the extended menu and set the PIN. Also, it is important to note that when reading the PIN out loud, make sure you use the following format: For "1999", you would say "Nineteen Ninety Nine" instead of "One, Nine, Nine, Nine". Which is silly, but hey, it is what it is. Great product overall.

Alexa integration...kind of
I am an IT professional and I have become somewhat of a home automation junkie. I recently saw this product and decided to give it a try. My main voice command unit is the Amazon Alexa with built-in hub. I currently have about half of my lights, all my Sonos speakers, a couple of Teckin smart plugs, my Honeywell thermostat, Amazon Fire Sticks, LG TV and other Amazon Echo devices up and running and integrated with Alexa. The Teckin plugs give me grief every once in while but all in all, all my "smart" devices are running pretty smoothly. I have been able to even create a few routines using Alexa and all work pretty well. So here are my pro's and con's with this device so far (just installed last night so there may be some things I am not quite sure about yet). Pros: * Product was very easy to install. * Once it is up and running with the app, seems to work quite well. Cons: * Listed instructions say to use eHomeLife app. App itself works fine but I was NOT able to enable the Alexa skill using this app. * If I search through the Alexa skills, there are 3 different apps available to use with this device (eHomeLife, Meross and Smart Meross...do not ask me the difference, they all seem to look and behave the same and a single account works on all 3). If I used the Meross or the Smart Meross app, I am able to enable the Alexa skill. * Using the Meross app/skill, Alexa was able to detect the device as a Garage Door type. However, the actual voice commands (open or close) did NOT work. I had to use the commands lock(close) or unlock(open). * Using the Smart Meross app/skill, Alexa was able to detect the device as a Garage Door type. However, the actual voice commands were even worse as I had to say "Alexa, ask Smart Meross to lock the garage door" * No voice commands seem to give me the current status of the garage door. * All in all, the only voice command that works is the "Alexa, lock the garage door" command. The device itself is easy to install, the recommended app is easy enough to use but still a lot of features missing that say they are supposed to work, especially when it comes to Alexa integration. I am hopeful they will get addressed in the near future.

Opens and closes.
The instructions weren't that clear from either this unit and my garage door, so I was worried it wasn't going to work on my garage door (Genie 2028). Once I looked at it a bit, it was super easy! It was literally 2 wires. The input wasn't clearly labeled for the garage motor side ( Trigger and sensor), so I had a 50/50 chance. Sure enough,(just like the right way up on a USB plug), I got it wrong, switched the inputs and voila! I also screwed up and mounted the wire/sensor to the door side when clearly its for the wall. The other sensor has a magnet so hopefully sits on the metal bracket of the garage good enough. The App...well...I have to download 2 apps to get them to work with my Google home. I am still not sure which one exactly makes it works, but it does. I say "Hey Google open the garage door" and it opens! There is 2 apps ehome life and Meross that I had to DL to get it to work with Google home. You can also just tap the icon in the apps to open and close the door. Slick, lets hope I don't get the fear "door is open" false message. All in all was pretty cheap compared to what's out there. My fault for not having a smoother install, and the app integration could be better.

Works better than the physical remotes!
A super easy install, works fantastic. The only thing is that in the app when I close the door it says closing failed, even though the door closes. It might be because the door itself is so slow. But I get the notifications that it opens and closes. Couldn't be happier!

Great way to make your dumb garage smart!
I just recieved my smart garage remote and so far I'm loving it the option to set a timer on when to close the garage is convenient and works very well the installation was pretty much a breeze except for the sensor placement on my garage door had to Micky mouse it a little but so far it works as intended. Very pleased the ehomelife app so far as well easy to use and works I have not tried to connect it to Alexa yet but I'm sure it won't be hard at all Highly recommend this product.
