Works great until it doesn't.
Out of the gate this beats all other openers that require a light sensor. Older openers don't have this sensor, and thus are incompatible with Beam's competition. Now for the downsides: 1) It flakes in the setting of whether to close after the programmed time-out setting. It sometimes closes when you have it set to not close, and sometimes just wants you if you have it set to close on the timer. Unsafe. 2) Always with brand new (fresh) alkaline batteries in the door sensor box, the app will say they only have 89% battery remaining. It also seems to think dead batteries always have more than 10% battery remaining. This is a problem because it is unreliable in helping to determine when it's time to change the batteries. So it works well for other features, but the app with the whole "swipe to open or close door" is a gimmick that could be better.implemented with a clicking switch, instead, on the screen. It doesn't make it any more safe by making the user have to find the sweet-spot in the swipe-up or swipe-down gestures.

Not a HomeLink receiver. Seems fine but I think I should have got a YoLink.
Seems to work fine. Well, except the app seems a bit finicky at recognizing my swipes. But otherwise seems fine. However, the device has exactly one function, to open the garage with the app. It does not, by itself, communicate with any remotes, not even other Beam Up remotes or keypads. I just assumed it would communicate with a Beam Up keypad and it does not. For this reason, I feel I should have got a YoLink. YoLink has many different devices that interwork with each other. And if all you want for now is just a app for a garage door opener, the YoLink is a bit cheaper. But since I bought this I will just stick with it.

20 minutes to Install - 10 minutes to Uninstall
So I had high hopes that this would work on my Liftmaster Door opener to turn it into a much more useful device for remotely opening for Amazon delivery and notification should the garage door be left open. The installation was easy enough except that they rely on a web page for the connection of the two wires, this page seems to be missing from the website so that was the first contact with BeamUP Support, although they never explained why the page is missing they did tell which terminals to connect the wires. These wires are what momentarily form a closed circuit to imitate the button push of the wall controller. Unfortunately if your Liftmaster (Chamberlain) has a Purple or Yellow learn button for the remotes, it would seem that this will not work due to the security features of the unit (Rolling Codes). Unfortunately this is not made clear in the BeamUP item page just some vague warning it might not be compatible. Apart from this the connection and set up the App was strait forward the door position sensor worked but I thought that just keeping the unit for this function would a little overpriced! The quality of the two devices seem well made with easy installation and App function, I did become a little concerned with the rate that the battery indicates on door sensors dropped over the six days I had it installed with it going from 100% to 83% capacity, not sure if the discharge rate would have flattened out later but if this kept the same discharge rate you would be replacing the batter every couple of months.

Simple, easy to use smart garage door option!
*I received this item for free to try from the brand and was paid to post about it on Instagram. I was not obligated to post this review. All opinions are my own*. My husband and I installed this smart garage door controller a few weeks ago and definitely recommend it. There's no subscription fee or app you have to pay for, which is great. Plus, the convenience of being able to open and close the door on our phones makes it so worth it. Plus, you can set up alerts to notify you if the door is left open, which is incredibly helpful, or you can set it to close automatically if it's been left open for a certain amount of time. The setup instructions could have come with a bit more detail, but it was fairly simple to install. I do wish the app interface was different. As it currently is, one person is the main account holder and can share it with another user, but you don't have the same features as the main person who sets it up. For example, my husband gets alerts when the door is open, but I don't since it's set up on his. However, I can still open and close the door on my app and see when it's left open. Overall, we've had a great experience and would recommend purchasing it for the price!

Works but .........
Ok the controller works but you can't make any mistakes during the setup. Don't waste your time calling or emailing support because you will most likely won't get a response. To resolve my issues I had to return 2 of them and finally I was successful. The problem is the app during setup. If you make an error you can't go back to fix the problem or allows you to start over. .

Easy to setup, connects to Alexa, no fees to use
I recently got the beamLabs smart garage door controller. It was easy to install and get connected to my phone. I have peace of mind now because I get alerts whenever the garage door is closed or opened. I can also use the app to open and close the door. And one of the best parts is that there are no subscription fees! I was also able to connect it to Alexa through a skills app, and she can open and close the garage as well. It would have been preferable to connect as a device so I didnt have to give my pin each time to open and close. The app is nice and basic. Instead of the swipe up and down I would rather have like a button to push for open and one for close. It's working good and I am glad we have it.

Pretty good
Works with Alexa. Live but not the Alexa app. It was difficult to get to work with Alexa voice but works well with own app and fairly east to install. Batteries die pretty fast though.
