Please read if you have an older garage door opener
My rating is really 4.5, but I rounded up due to facts that their email customer service is very responsive and I do like the product. I do have some nits to pick though: 1. I have an older Liftmaster garage door opener so I had to request their “accessory” to make it work and it works fine, but the accessory took a week to arrive via USPS (after I got the controller “next day” from Amazon). 2. The “accessory” came “pre-wired” but one of the wires was broken so I had to strip it and reinsert it into the connector. 3. I spent way more time than I would have liked running the door sensor wire from the door to the garage door opener (in part because I misjudged how long the cord was and had to redo it), but it turned out running this wire was probably totally unnecessary. Here’s the main reason for my review to make this easier for those who have to get this accessory: The “accessory” to make these older garage door openers work is really just a hand-held remote “clicker.” You connect this clicker to the Meross controller which in turn is connected to the door sensor (on the newer garage doors, you don’t have the “clicker” so you wire the controller directly to the opener). But in my case AFAIK, there’s no reason that you can’t put the controller-and-clicker pair on a shelf somewhere and run the door sensor wire there. If I had realized this initially, it would have made my installation a LOT easier and more aesthetically pleasing instead of having wire run across my garage ceiling. While the controller, which is taped to my opener, has no problem picking up my Wi-Fi signal, I probably could have put it somewhere else in my garage where the signal is stronger since it doesn’t need to be next to the opener. It would have been extremely helpful if the Meross folks had given me a high-level overview of what was happening; maybe I’m slow, but I didn’t realize all this until I had finished the installation following their standard instructions. Frankly, I don’t know why everyone (even those with newer openers) don’t get the “accessory” since this would give everyone a lot more flexible options for installation. 4. It was easy to “link” the Meross app to my Google Home Assistant on my Android phone, but… a. I can’t figure out how to add a “close garage door” task to my Google “bedtime” routine. b. You can create a Meross “widget” to put on your Home screen, but it gives no status indication (i.e., is the garage door currently open or closed?), pressing it just sends a signal to the clicker which opens or closes the door alternatively but doesn’t tell you what it did, and the widget is 2x2 which takes up way too much real estate for a simple toggle button. Bottom line for me is that I just put the Meross app on my home screen and I open the app to check the status. This make four icons I have for my small number of smart devices at my house: Home, Kasa, Nest, and Meross. Sigh… Lots of griping, but I do like the product and it’ll be nice to be able to check the status of my garage door when I’m wondering, after I’ve left the house, if I remembered to close the garage door – and to be able to close it remotely if not! The app will send you notices when the garage door is opened or closed; I think that’ll be nice to know if/when that happens when I’m gone, but I imagine it’ll get annoying after a while when I’m home. Hint: you’ll need the model number of your garage door to configure the Meross app; in my case, it wasn’t on the visible back panel where all the other numbers are – it was partially hidden on the front panel next to the light bulb.

Check your door opener for compatibility
My system has a two-wire remote. Since this device provides a contact closure, I assumed it would work with my two-wire system, and it did not. The easy test is to remove your button from the wall and briefly connect the two contacts with a screwdriver or a short piece of wire. This unit is compatible if the door operates when you short the contacts on the switch. If it does not work, you need an extra part available for free from the Meross.com website. Once the small problem above was worked out (I had to order the extra part), the unit worked perfectly with Apple HomeKit. I downloaded the app and followed the instruction. No account is required, and nothing special is needed. Run the app. It installs the widget in the HomeKit database then you can ask Siri if the door is open or closed and open or close the door as required. It could not be easier. I ordered a second device for the other garage door. Note to Manufacturer: 1 - I would have preferred to pay a few dollars extra to be able to order the particular interface when I ordered the unit. It would have saved me a lot of time and frustration. 2 - The instructions I listed above to test compatibility on your website would have been helpful. 3 - The information that your device only provides a simple contact closure would also have been helpful.

Integración limitada con Alexa en México
El mando a distancia para cocheras funciona perfectamente desde la app de Meross, su funcionamiento es muy simple pues lo que hace es enviar un pulso eléctrico para que el motor de la cochera haga su función de abrir o cerrar, así que funcionará perfectamente con los motores de este tipo (que trabajen con base en un pulso eléctrico. La integración con Alexa es otra historia. De hecho la misma app de Meross te advierte que la compatibilidad con Alexa fuera de USA está limitada a trabajar como un contacto inteligente (smart plug). En mi caso, Alexa no reconoce el comando de "abrir puerta X" Tienes que decirle "activa puerta X" o "enciende puerta X" para que haga la función de enviar el pulso eléctrico para abrir. El comando "cierra la puerta X" si lo reconoce. Tampoco reportará el estado de la puerta, es decir si está abierta o cerrada, eso se tiene que consultar en la app de Meross. En el caso de querer utilizar el mando en una Rutina de Alexa, la única función disponible es la de cerrar, la de abrir no existe. En resumen es un buen gadget pero deberían advertir las limitaciones que tiene con Alexa.

Not Really Compatible with Alexa
Yes....This will activate your garage door opener if it is compatible. The Meross APP is OK and you can make your door go up and down with the APP all day long however, if you want Alexa to open your garage door, then prepare to be disappointed. The Meross device does not play well with Alexa and once you sign-out and in again on Alexa you will find that the Meross device is listed as a LOCK. This being the case, you are required to use a voice code every time you want Alexa to open your garage door. Security? Well maybe but when your garage door is opening or open, the Meross APP sends lets you know so I would think that it's OK for Alexa to open my garage door without a voice code. Having said that, you CAN NOT remove the voice code lock requirement when using Alexa to activate the Meross device. As I am an adult and would like to retain some control over my life and devices, I would rather the option to simply open my garage door with Alexa and no voice code to unlock it first, remain my choice. Disappointingly this is not the case and if you want to use the Meross device with Alexa, you have to be aware that you have no control over the requirement to enter a voice code prior to opening your garage door. Disappointed!

Primer proyecto de smart home
Relativamente sencillo de instalar.. Lo mas compllcado fue decidir como acomodar los componentes para que no estorbaran en el movimiento de la puerta. Tiene su propia app, que es muy facil de configurar y usar. Pero como queria control de voz, use un echo dot. La integracion con Alexa fue un poco confusa, porque tardo en ver el componente pero al final fue muy satisfactorio poderle decir "Alexa, cierre la puerta de la cochera".. y ver que funcionaba a la perfeccion.

Excelente solución para casa inteligente
Con esto controlo cuando abro la puerta y no importa si estás lejos de casa o cerca. De la mano de cámaras de CCTV le he abierto a la paquetería para pedirle que deje algo en casa sin necesidad de estar allí (puedo estar en otro país y solo les digo que me estoy bañando). Maravilloso, además te avisa cuando se abre o se cierra el portón

Works great with Google Assistant
Is working great with my Merlin garage door opener, and integration with Google Assistant is a breeze. However, I am finding that from time to time, and seemingly at random, the door sensor decides the garage door is open, even if I haven't opened it in days. I've checked that the sensor is set up within parameters, so now I am left to wonder if something is interfering with it somehow.
