Outside under my hat, under the sun - just right, mostly
These cancel the noise of my saws, the noise of my machines and tractor really well. The fact I can have this level of protection and not interfere with my sun hat is terrific. I wish i discovered these sooner! One dislike I have is the way the metal wire that runs around behind your neck, often rubs on my collar and that sound is transported directly to my ears. It's a mild annoyance, not enough for me to discount their use. Also, in order to prevent the two cushions from rubbing one another during non-use and possibly causing a permanent impression or deformation, you have to flip each ear cup around backwards so the plastic cups meet with each other. 3M ships them this way - probably for that very reason. Overall, good product from a reputable company.

What a quality product!!
The quality is really good 3M original product, and the best thing is the low profile I can use under hat, construction and welding helmets 100% recommend!!

Good low profile protection
Good low profile works under a helmet or face shield. They are only rated to 95 db but anything helps.

Works great under large brim hats
Does not technically have noise cancellation, but noise attenuation is very good. Slim, lower-profile type muffs/cups, don’t knock on stock when shooting rifle/shotgun anywhere near as bad as big cups. Had a similar pair (not low-profile) I wore at work with a bump cap and hard hat as spring band goes behind head instead of resting on top of head. Works well with full-brim hats such as Boonie hat, gardening bonnet, or cowboy hat. Tan color a bit blah, but I have plenty of Frog Tape and spray paint if I feel like getting fashionable or festive. We usually use the cup-style protection with earplugs or earbuds. Also works great with the Axil GhostStryke combo Bluetooth earbud/hearing protection and should work fine with similar in-ear products. Doubling-up allows you to listen to music at a much lower volume than earbud ear pro alone (see below). The reason for double protection is a more broad-spectrum frequency attenuation in addition to additional decibel reduction. Double protection is more useful for lawnmower, weed eater, tractor, industrial blower/grinder equipment - high-noise areas - than intermittent like shooting, hammering, impact wrench, and other hand tool usage. Buy these and start protecting NOW while you’re young. If you’re old like me buy them anyway so you’ll go deaf a later rather than sooner.

What I was hoping for!
I'm a welder and need to wear ear protection. Because of the welding helmet, spongy earplugs (or their silicone versions) are usually the chosen alternative. Personally, I don't like wearing things that squeeze into my ear canals. These 3M Peltor ear muffs do FIT under my helmet (Lincoln 3350 - with 4C lens). It's snug, there's no wiggle room but it fits. Adding the included velcro fabric/band meant to secure the muffs in place really makes a difference. That band sits right on top of the head and secures them at the chosen height. This system is not heavy duty but the principle works, as long as you take care of your gear. Also, they were a little too tight out of the box so I gently stretched their opening range. I can add silicone ear plugs underneath if needed for extra protection. They don't block sound as much as bulkier muffs but again, they're thinner, and they cut most of the frequencies that would be damaging long term. I can also wear my security eyeglasses (and Covid mask). It lost 1 star because of the vinyl contour around the ears. It's spongy enough and relatively comfortable but I wish they would come up with a kind of fabric that is breathable, though I recognize most of them don't do this.

Not against the noise of a snorer
I did buy this earmuff for sleeping and canceling the noise of my boyfriend's snoring. It does the job had 90% with the M3 earplugs but it isn't that confortable. I have to sleep on my back and have to move the earmuff a couple of time every night to relieve the pressure point. At least I've been able to get a couple of hours of sleep without losing my mine and crying.

Comfortable and can wear them upside down
Been wearing these every day for the last week while in wood shop. They're comfortable and though I don't have to wear a helmet all the time, I wear them upside down so the band sits over my head and it's just as comfortable. I just slide them up over hear like a pair of Mickey mouse ears when they're not in use

Must have
Amazon driver dropped these off just as I was doing some overhead grinding and eating hot sparks in the process .. The next thing I did was put on my face shield and my new behind the ear muffs .. Wearing a full face shield with regular ear muffs never seems to work but I will with these they even stayed place with head looking up the whole time .. Would highly recommend
