A Fantastic Substitue
This is a great replacement if your head hurts from standard Ear Protection after a while. It may take a little while to figure them out or get them set but once you do, they are heaven on your head and they cancel a lot of sound level. These work way better if you are wearing a hard hat or a cutting shield but your mileage may vary, each implement is a little different. There is a velcro strap on the top that sits on your head and then the metal arch goes behind your neck to create the clamping pressure. The level of squeezing from these is probably about half of what a standard set of headphones creates so they are more comfortable on your ears as well without giving you headaches as fast or as much.

Quietest in its class.
There is nothing else behind the head that’s nearly as good. I don’t really care for behind the head earmuffs, but when you’re wearing a hat and can’t wear over the head muffs, these are the next best thing. Peltor is a hearing protection name you can trust (unlike 95% of the garbage being sold on Amazon illegally without proper NRR ratings), and this style is the most attenuating they offer.

What?? Huh??? What did you say?
You’ll be saying that a lot with these. Excellent protection.

Say what?!?!
These have been great to kinda be able to wear a hard hat or western hat and still have ear protection. The ear muffs kinda make the hat etc sit a little off but better than ear plugs or no protection.

Perfect for their intended purpose: Work
Having used several variations of 3M's Peltor series of over-the-ear hearing protection devices in the last decade, I can say that their quality is excellent and that they excel at making durable, serviceable equipment for working in high-decibel environments. This is the purpose of the product: to reduce damaging sound levels so that work can be safely performed in high noise environments. They are NOT designed for sleeping, to make quiet environments silent, or to block out annoying conversations and noises around you. They are made to prevent hearing damage and hearing loss, not to dampen down your brother's snoring in another room. Anybody buying them for any other purpose is setting themselves up for disappointment, and setting the product up for failure. Several negative reviews of the product reflect this attitude. So far as durability is concerned, they are all on par with any other similarly designed product that I have encountered. They are not "bomb-proof", so to speak. The ear pads will eventually give up and require replacement. This is normal. 3M sells a "hygiene kit" that replaces the pads and foam specifically to address this. The pads are designed for a good seal to the ears even while wearing glasses, and they accomplish this. They give good service, and I am speaking from the perspective of using them for 8 to 12 hours a day, on a daily basis, in heavy industry. My previous pair has held up for 6 years. The ear pads are starting to tear on the edges, but still provide a great seal. I only bought new so I could switch to a behind-the-head design. I highly recommend the brand and the product. Amazon's rating system for these is less than ideal, as these do not "cancel" noise, but merely attenuate it. Be aware of that when readings reviews. These DO NOT "cancel" noise.

Extra hearing protection in hot Texas summers
My preference is to wear a wide brim hat with sound amplification ear buds when shooting outdoors in hot Texas weather. Sun and hearing protection. But sometime the guns are really really loud. Overcoming the NRR for the ear buds. But over-the-head ear muffs means no wide brim hat. Solution: go to behind-the-head muffs and wear the same ear buds underneath. While a bit hot under the muffs I can take them off from time to time and leave the ear buds in ears. During colder weather (which can happen even in Texas) I can switch to foam ear plugs with sound amplification ear muffs. This brand has depth (1 inch) to the muff so the ear buds fit comfortable inside. See photos to get an idea how far the buds can stick out and still fit inside without pushing into ear canal. There is also a hook & loop strap that can be fastened over your head to keep muffs from dropping down. Also with the wire behind your neck there is a limit how far one lift their head back. BTW: both ear buds and hat were bought from Amazon and I left reviews on products.

They offer what most of the others do not.
These allow me to wear a wide brimmed hat or a ball cap for sun protection and give my ears optimal protection. I use one pair for shooting and another pair for mowing.

Item received in good condition. Does its job of cutting noise very well. Fits correctly in helmet slot without any issues.

Great hearing protection if only somewhat unsuited for prolonged periods ...
Great hearing protection if only somewhat unsuited for prolonged periods as the weight causes them to slide down taking your ears with `em. Best used for short periods.

Did what it's supposed to do.
The packaging by Amazon was bad, Seller did not respond for my mail to clear doubts, Product box seal was opened, though looked like good and new so I accepted it. Coming to the product itself, it's excellent fits my erudek helmet perfectly and noise reduction is phenomenal. I'm a Marine engineer on ship so noise protection is very important to me and this does the job well.

Bulky but great quality
These earmuffs are the best ones I've found so far for blocking out noise. They do come at a cost as they are larger and bulker. This means they also weigh a bit more than other options when they are stored on your hardhat. For me this is not too bad as I wear my hardhat in shorter periods of time. I have many other pairs of earmuffs and the only way I would make these better is to have the Gel pad instead of the foam pad for sealing against your head. Overall this is my top pick for an industrial application.

They work
I got these to use with a full-brim hard hat and mesh visor, as the regular cap-mount muffs don't fit over the frame for the visor. Quite frankly they're not as good as the over-the-head or cap-mount units, but if those aren't an option these are certainly good enough. They don't fit perfectly well over my glasses frames, but that might well just be due to my particular frames. I think someone else mentioned this, too, but if you have to look up a lot (I do, these go with my chainsaw hard hat) they'll push against the collar of your shirt and the back of your neck.
