Very good
This is the brand & type of charcoal recommended by my art teacher. Are very good but slightly softer then I thought they would be, but still working well.

Delicate, smooth
I use these to block in shapes for pastel paintings. They are a dream to use. Unfortunately, they arrived in many pieces, some so small it was difficult to work with them.

Top best
*Late review* Did a little secret Santa thing last Christmas. On a list of 4 things the person might like, she wrote charcoal. So I did a little research on good brands. These came up as the top best. And what’s more, when she got them she said “these are really really good” So I’m happy. Lol

hmm
i think it's an alright student-grade vine charcoal. i used these for my drawing ii course and it was dryer than i expected and not very pigmented. however, i will say that they are not brittle and i only went through 1 stick for the entire 18"x24" piece. for the price, i think it's good but there are definitely better ones than these

Broken sticks
Well… I was supposed to get 12 VINE sticks.. and you know. .. I received broken pieces of charcoal and not a single vine. ????

Good
Nice product

Delicate and nice to use
Produces a very nice grey on smoother drawing paper; darker on toothier paper. It is easily sharpened on sand paper. (Retain the loose sanding for background toning!) What I love about it is that it is so delicate that it lightens one’s touch on the paper substantially. Wrap one end in a bit of paper and it fits well into a pencil extender. Note that description is incorrect. It is made by Winsor & Newton (not “Newtown”), and the Winsor & Newton company is not affiliated as part of Reeves, as far as I know.
