Three Missing Features
Got it yesterday. Making soup today. It is easy to use and easy to clean. Missing features: NO ON-OFF LIGHT. The only way to know if it's heating up is to touch it. Which is fine until it gets hot enough to burn your fingers. NO ON-OFF SWITCH. You control the electricity by plugging and unplugging it. NO CLOCK. So you can't set it for five hours and leave. You have to be around in five hours to turn it Off (which means unplug it) or to Warm. It looks like WestBend just cheaped out on the details. I will keep it, but I am an adult and there are no children in my house. If my kids were still here, I would send this slow cooker back. Shame on you, WestBend!

I love this slow cooker!
This is the 3rd one that I've had. I received the first one as a gift back in the 80's. It actually still worked, but I started using it to melt beeswax, which really doesn't clean up well. I bought the second one in 2012 and used it several times a week, often using it to make bone broth, which has to simmer on low for 3-5 days. It is so easy to use and easier to lift, move, and clean because the pot is so light. I just got a new one because the Teflon is scratched and starting to wear off. I still plan to use that one when I need the extra cooking space and will use a slow cooker bag in it. The new one is just slightly wider and more square, which is actually easier to use and clean. It's great for pot roasts, roasting whole small chickens, soups, and easy one-pot meals like chili, coq au vin, lasagna, etc. I can put everything in the pot in the morning and have a great dinner later that day. The only thing I would change is to have an actual shut-off switch instead of unplugging to turn it off.

Almost great, but it ticks.
This is a good size, nice quality slow cooker. I like the versatility a lot. The minus one star is this: at lowertemps, it ticks. And loudly. Whenever the heating element adjusts to the temp control, it ticks-- a big, loud, cracking sound. The lower the temp, the more the ticking. At lowest, keep warm temp, it ticked about 15 times a minute. If I'm not home, I don't care. If I'm home, it's annoying.

popping, clicking, tick tick ticking.
Texted the manufacturer as was offered in customer support. The unit makes a lot of noise that makes one wonder if it’s going to keep working. This is what was texted back. Thank you for reaching out The Legacy Companies. Apologies to hear that you experienced this trouble . Please allow me to assist you on this concern. The clicking or popping sounds you are hearing are the adhesive resin on the unit. It is normal for slow cookers, especially for new units. After several uses (approximately 10-12 uses) , the adhesive resin will be melted and the popping/clicking sound will go away. For future reference, here is your ticket number 327716 Have a wonderful day! If your question/concern does not need further assistance, no need to answer this email. Have a wonderful day! Sincerely, Christine Customer Service Support The Legacy Companies 327716:1965072 Great support and very quick answers. Wish it was still made in USA.

high heat problem
if you cook on high you can NOT leave it alone due to steam escaping out the lid, therefore you need to keep adding water, easy clean up works well except for the steam issue Not sure if the lid has a defect or not

Great slow-cooker, lousy print
We've had this for almost a year now and love it. My only complaint it the print for the settings. It all rubbed off in less than 6 months. All that's left is smudges. As long as I have the pic of the cooker here in Amazon I can always check the settings there. Heck, you can't even see what brand it is because it rubbed off. Poor advertising planning on their part. "Hey, how do you like your slow cooker?" "Great, I love it!" "What brand is it?" "Uh, heck if I know. The name rubbed off of it a long time ago."

Works well but is very noisy
I use this a lot because it cooks quickly and cleans up nicely. Problem was the last one I had developed places that started peeling off the cooking surface in the pot, so I replaced it. Do not remember how long I had used it before that happened. The new one is very noisy while cooking and that is a bit distracting, but otherwise not a problem.

Pretty good. Old model still better.
We've had this brand of crock pot for years, and wanted to stick with westbend. The two main downsides to this newer one is it does cook a little hot. We've had to set it lower than our old one. Second is the clicking noise. It was bad for the first few times but has pretty much went away now. It's just the thermostat setting/reading temp.

Best slow cooker ever- Way better than the heavy old crockpots!
I've bought a few for gifts, as this one was also, and I own one myself.. Worth the money- big time!!! It's not heavy and awkward like huge crockpots are, it's so lightweight that if you drop it, the worst that will happen is a chip in the enamel perhaps or tiny dent, not a huge shattered ceramic/clay pot all shattered all over the floor or breaking your toes if they happen to be in the way- ouch! Cleanup a snap with the non stick interior. Great for anyone with limited hand strength/arthritic issues. The shape makes it easy to slide on a fridge shelf taking up way less space than an old crock put. Plenty of room inside and they even come a bit larger if you want a roomier one. I can't say enough positive things about it, and they seem to last forever. What more can I say!

I didn't get the red one!
I am only giving this product a 3 star rating, because I was sent a different one and it did not come with the carrier. I debated about returning it, but made the decision to keep it. The slow cooker is a nice size for making chili, soups, stews, etc. - not too big. It works very well, so all in all, I am pleased with what I received.

Cooks very nicely
Great item. But reliability isn't great as the first one I purchased lasted only 2 years before the heating element died.

way better than a crock pot!
lightweight, easy to store on fridge shelf, no fear of dropping it like if you dropped your heavy crockpot and it shattered on the floor. Easy to store and cooks like a dream! It's Westbend so it will last forever It's perfect for someone with arthritis in their hands and the insulated tote makes it easy to bring the meals over to someone's home for a pot luck or if they are ill or in mourning
