These liners would have gotten 2.5 stars...
As the review title mentions, if I were able to, I would have given these 2.5 stars instead. We love our 4-legged kids right? I know that I adore mine. It's too bad that their toilet is harder to clean than our own! :-) Needless to say, instead of thoroughly cleaning my kids litter boxes after each litter cycle was done with Lysol, I began using liners years ago as the solution. I have literally tried every type, brand, etc that I know of. I even tried using 2 or 3 thick trash bags as liners. The sifting types of liners were the last type I tried. I was so excited to receive these in the mail because I thought to myself, "Wow, the maintenance is going to be so much quicker now." Unfortunately, the sifting idea is great but this brand of liners simply didn't work at my house. My kids tend to really dig deep into the litter (and I fill a jumbo box nearly to the brim with Fresh Step) and this liner was thin enough that they clawed right through it and made a mess. Van Ness in general as a brand hasn't worked for me with their standard liners either unfortunately but I still gave these a try. Before ever putting the litter in the jumbo box, I noticed right away when pulling these liners out of the box that they, in my humble opinion, weren't well made. This set comes with the bottom layer (obviously the one with no sifting holes in it) and then the other sifting layers are simply supposed to easily lay on top of that bottom layer. My goodness was it sloppy! I tried so hard to get these to line up properly and sit well in the box but the material was so thin that I got too frustrated and gave up. I just sat them in there the best I could. Then you place the large (but fairly thin) rubber band around the outside top rim to hold all of the liners in place. That didn't work well either with the XL dome boxes I have. So unfortunately I can't give a great review for these like I wanted to, even though the sifting idea is wonderful! I have gone back to using "Jonny Cat" brand Heavy Duty Jumbo liners because they are thick and have the drawstring to lift like a trash bag once the litter needs to be fully replaced. I hope this review helps you!

I've never seen anything like it
I HAVE USED sifting litter liners before - really expensive ones (see Whisker City - available at Amazon) which I liked but gave up for a while because of the expense. Decided to go back to using them and saw this brand also, so decided to order a box of each for comparison. When these first arrived, I was flabbergasted - expecting a litter pan liner ... no, expecting ten nested litter pan liners - with elastic edges to hold in place (a la Whisker City sifting liners) what do I find but absolutely flat sheets of plastic, ten with holes and the bottom without, and a giant rubber band to hold them in the box. Flabbergasted as well as flummoxed I was trying to figure out what to do with them. Well, I reasoned, I can tear off a sheet of aluminum foil and shape a liner for a baking pan so, though these do not hold shape like foil does, I loosely fashioned corners and stuffed the flat part into the bottom of the pan and folded the excess over the edges (it never occurred to me to "trim"" them - maybe I will next time), and tried to hold everything in place while securing the rubber band ... and I hope to heck that will hold, as it looks a bit thin, SO - now I have sifted off the first two layers and must admit the product does its job surprisingly well. In fact I have established a monthly subscription - figuring ten siftable layers in a box and sifting every 3 days gives me a month of relatively pain free litter box care. As for the box of Whixker City sifting liners I got in the same order, they were only Large, and I needed Extra Large, so I was able to use them in my second, smaller litter box. I may still actually prefer them because of the pre-formed, elasticized liners, but I must say I have not put THEM on subscription.

Good for the price
They're what you would expect for the price. They have their pros and cons. Pros is that they're much easier to fit to an extra large litter pan than the elastic ones you have to stretch over. They're large flat sheets you fasten with a large rubber band so they go on very easily and are easy to take off as long as you're careful. I like that the sifting holes are smaller than other brands. Takes longer to sift but you save more litter. They're also super affordable compared to other brands. Cons, mainly how thin they are. With a declawed cat would be no issue but if your baby has natural claws they rip easily as they dig. Keep the litter a little extra thick and it helps. Also you have to be a little careful when you pull one off to sift since without elastic to cinch you need to make sure you have all four corners held firmly so that you don't drop one side and pour out all the litter.

So much easier
I do want to preface this by saying that if your cat scratches a lot, these might rip. These are pretty thin but, if there is enough litter, you should be fine. I hate cleaning the litter box. I’ve was always dreading it so much but it has to be done. This was a complete game changer. I now never have to scoop again. I don’t use the solid liner though. I used the freshstep solid liner because of how flimsy these are and there’s no way to seal it. The fresh step one is more durable and it ties like a trash bag. They come in a big pack so I just put the sifting one in another one of those. These sifting liners are pretty good considering the price.

Very strong and durable.
I like this because my hands stay away from the liter and it makes cleaning very easy.

For a standard shallow box, comes as non fitted sheets with holes.
Not exactly what I needed. I will use them and make them work. Too small for anything but a standard box and I was really looking for something with elastic to keep it in place. But I will say that this was the only reasonably priced item. And it is a thicker clear plastic.

quick and easy
Fantastic, used 2 with another liner for over the weekend. Cleaned in a jiffy one tray, but did leave one poo! Not too durable as cat had made a hole in it! Will use now and again as a bit expensive! Will order more soon!

Great if your cat isn't on a urinary diet.
Ive used this product for several months now and had to recently try to find something new. This liner was decent for my three boys, however due to a recent health change in our youngest they are eating a urinary diet. This diet increases their urine output to avoid crystal build up in my one boys bladder. As a result his pee cakes are MASSIVE. His urine drenches several layers down into the sifting liners so the next layer is sadly never fresh and due to the size of his urine cakes sometimes the entire sifting area is completely blocked so I can't even shift. Prior to this diet change I really liked this product. Ive found it saved time, litter, and decreased odours. These liners did work great, but sadly not for cat's on a urinary diet which increases urine output.

Pain in the arse
May as well line your litter box with a tarp. I thought these were regular bag shaped liners with a sifting piece but it’s just a bunch of plastic sheets with holes. Why would I want to sift the same used litter 10 times?! You secure the sheets with a large rubber band supplied with the sheets except mine didn’t come with the band. Boooo.

Awkward sized
I don't like them. They're too awkward and not easy to just take 1 layer off to sift the litter. Also, if your cat hooks the liner while kicking their litter after doing their business, the sifting no longer works because they've made a large hole in it ????. Not convenient.

They work surprisingly well
I ordered these by accident. They have no structure, but I’m surprised at how effective they are. Helps me reduce the wastage of litter I usually blow thru by doing a full pan dump everytime I change it. It’s basically a plastic sheet with 1cm holes in it but they work well!
