Improved

Replacing the same one I have been using for about 12 years. The old one served me well but has become sun faded and looks like it might be deteriorating from the sun so I thought it would be wise to replace it. The new one includes a hole to let water drain from the cup on the top. A nice improvement.

Sturdy tongue jack stand that does what it's intended to do.

I've got a 2016 Coachmen Apex Nano that sits pretty high and with my weight distribution hitch leveling with my tow vehicle, the stock tongue jack doesn't have enough travel. I tried the typical blocks of wood, some bricks, etc. but was looking for something made for the job. Behold, the Valterra tongue jack stand. The construction is very sturdy. I was initially hesitant that it can hold the little in excess of 400 pound tongue weight, but it holds solid thus far. If you flip the stand over and look inside the cone, you can see the top is quite reinforced, which made me more at ease. Whether sitting on a concrete driveway or gravel storage lot, this stand stays put. It seems a tad pricey in my opinion. I'd like to see it in the $10-15 range, but none the less it seems to be a good product that does exactly what it intends to do.

Augment - NOT replace - your hitch block stack.

Decent enough. Pay attention to the warnings: "Use on a level surface". Meaning, the entire load needs to distribute through the base of the stand. So in practice this tongue jack stand is always on top of a wood block.

Fairly soft material

If you don’t get it perfectly in the center it damages the top piece no matter how careful u are about placement.

Only works on flat terrain

Works fine on a perfectly flat surface, but if you are on even a slight hill forget about using it. The jack nearly slid off the cone and bent the cone out of shape. Would not purchase again. Needs to be heavier to work on most surfaces.
