Depends if you need the Disney branding?

First, a beautiful paddle! Acacia wood is stunning. Second, think about it! Do you need a child-themed pizza paddle? Personally, I wouldn’t want kiddos anywhere near my pizza paddle since it’s going in and out of my pizza oven at 600 degrees plus! Yikes for children!! The paddle is made by Picnic Time—it markets under its own name and also does licensing for many companies including Disney. Rather than pay up to $50 for the Disney version, the identical paddle sans branding can often be found for under $30 here on Amazon. It’s known as the Toscana and is just as beautiful as this cutsie Disney version. In my mind, the paddle is five thumbs up. The value of this one is a three at best. So, four stars it is yet if I had to order again, the near identical Toscana earns a very high five stars for both quality and value.

I say pass on this one

Unfortunately there are more thing wrong with this pizza paddle that things that are right. Let’s list the pros and cons WHAT IS RIGHT This makes an attractive wall décor hanging in a country themed kitchen, it has a hole in the handle plus a flimsy leather effect string. I have a place in my open pantry that was just right for a cute wall hanging. The wood finish is well done and the piece feels solid. THE NOT SO GOOD Now that we’ve covered the entire list of what’s right, the rest of what I’m going to list makes it impossible to consider this in the five star category, which should always be reserved for products that earn the right to be called the best of the best. 1. At a stratospheric forty bucks it has my head shaking and wondering are you kidding me that they are trying to soak us for something that everyone else sells for half that just because they are paying big royalties to their sponsor. There is absolutely nothing about it that makes it worth so much more. 2. The so-called Toy Story branding is nothing more than a tiny etching at the bottom of the paddle, no cartoon characters or whimsical graphics. You have to hold it a foot away from your face to be able to make out what it is. 3. The etching exposes the unfinished wood and is a trap for the oils and grease that is normal from a pizza, not to mention a haven for bacteria growth. 4. The entire idea of associating a kids’ movie with an adult cooking item meant for use with a hot oven escapes me. What were they thinking? I don’t get the link at all. 5. The paddle is heavy, at two and a half pounds and very front heavy it is actually difficult to lift by itself let alone with a pizza on it. Arthritic hands will definitely find it impossible to hold and pretty much anyone will have to have an excellent sense of balance to keep from having their pizza slide right off. 6. Speaking of sliding, the paddle is also very thick. Despite having a slightly tapered leading edge there is no way it’s going to easily slide under a pizza in your oven. In every try I ended up pushing the pizza all the way back against the back wall of the oven and having the toppings squash together and fall off. See my first comment up above, this thing is meant as a wall hanging décor piece only. 7. One more comment on the topic of what were they thinking, there are two clear labels on the bottom of the paddle that are glued on with some super strong adhesive that leaves a sticky residue. Soap and water would not remove it, scraping would not remove it, I had to use a powerful glue thinner – which of course is unsafe to eat, so I had to spend a half hour carefully washing the area with soap and water just to make it safe to use. Pizza paddles are a cool trendy kitchen accessory and there are pages of them listed here for about twenty bucks. This one is in no way better and in fact has some significant downsides. And the questionable branding etched into it is in no way worth an extra twenty bucks. For that I’ll get a branding iron and burn my own design into one. I’d say pass on this one.

Fun AND Practical

I really love this product. This is a beautifully made pizza paddle, with attractive wood and construction. It is just gorgeous— with a surprising and fun touch for Pixar/Disney lovers, featuring the beloved Pizza joint from the Toy Story films! I love that you can share the Disney love with this paddle, but it is practical and well-made enough to proudly display in any kitchen (you have to inspect this paddle to see the logo and aliens). I can see my family and I enjoying pizza off this paddle for many years to come!

Pretty and Potentially Useful

Our pizza is generally pretty much devoured before it gets a chance to be elegantly presented, but this elegant peel would fit the bill. Nice wood grain and sturdily constructed. Family is split on whether to favor the blank side or the side with the Disney engraved "artwork." Looks quite handsome hanging on a previously bare patch of kitchen wall Thinking it would make a good serving tray for cheese and cracker type hors d'oeuvre.

All the nostalgic vibes for pizza night!

This is absolutely the cutest collab! This Acacia wooden serving paddle is SO adorable and gives all the nostalgic vibes of the very first Toy Story movie. It's sturdy, well-made, and had a good weight to it. Easy to hold at the edge of the oven to easily slide the pizza onto it. Do NOT put in your dishwasher or submerge in water, simply use a wet cloth to wipe clean. Highly recommend!

Durable and easy to use

I have used this several times when making pizza and bread. The wood is strong and durable. It doesn't show cuts on the wood when you slice pizza or bread on it. The tapered front provides ease when transferring pizza or bread on it. This is a must have for any baker. Definitely worth the money.

Perfection

Heavy duty pizza peel with the pizza planet logo and the alien characters engraved. Love this for a disney themed kitchen, would even make a good housewarming gift for a disney fan.

Looks great but...

This is a pretty standard pizza paddle nothing about this is any different then any other Except its Disney, Toy story specific, imprint. It doesn't really stand out in color and if you aren't looking for the "Pizza Planet" you can miss it. Now, are avid fans going to love this probably yes. Functionality. It, again, is like pretty much any pizza paddle but more expensive. It is stained and sealed but it has etchings and I can't tell if it was sealed afterwards. I am assuming it was. Its rather heavy to try to hold with one hand. My mom can't do it but I can. Overall, this is your basic paddle and double the price. It will make a great decoration.
