Don't try to just use it
The construction of this product looks nice and seems well made. However, don't think you can just purchase it and use it... After the initial cleaning I noticed the grain was significantly raised and it is just raw wood. It has to be cleaned, lightly sanded with 220 or 400 grit sandpaper and then seasoned with butcher block conditioner or a food grade/safe seasoning product.... Also the name of the company is American Metal Craft... Its made in Canada and made of wood... I guess since we are all living in "opposite land" now that that its ok for this pizza peel to identify as wood. Lol... At least its not made in China...

Beautiful piece of wood
I am a steel peel fan but my son-in-law, for whom this was purchased prefers wood. I see that the fresh spread pizza dough is less likely to stick to the wood than it does to the metal peel. Keep in mind for those shopping around that the wood peel is (of course) much thicker than the metal peel but the ability to slide the dressed pizza off the peel outweighs the issue of how thick the peel is. He may have converted me and this is a nice peel, a good size and it arrived well packed and quickly

Wood split and broke weeks after getting it
Saw these as a recommendation on a couple cooking blogs/sites so I decided to pick them up. The second time I used them about 2 weeks after getting it, the peel cracked and split during normal use. Their customer service was good though and refunded me once I sent them a picture of the broken peel. Maybe mine was just a defect but I wouldn't recommend this peel.

Quality Made in Canada
I needed a large wood peel for my heavy toppings thick crusted 14" pizza and this item exceeded my requirements. Sturdy, but not too heavy weight wise and the tag said " made in Canada" . Dusted the peel with flour and made sure the raw dough crust was not wet. Slid off very easily onto the baking stone. Watch You Tube videos if you have trouble with pizza dough sticking to a wood peel. Clean-up was a damp non-soapy clean wash cloth. Stored in plastic shipping bag when dry to keep clean. Thank you American Metalcraft for a quality item made in Canada that will last me for many years.

Great for prepping pizzas for the oven.
Wood pizza paddles work great to create your pizzas on. Keep it floured or use corn meal to help prevent the dough from sticking. Pizzas slide off of it easier than metal peels. The thicker material does not make it ideal for removing pizzas from the oven, that's where a metal one works best. Warning: do not cut your pizza on the paddle as it will leave marks. I'll drill a small hole in the handle to add a leather lace to store it easier by hanging it up.

Misleading long handle image used
I should have looked at the other reviews more closely. I purchased this specific peel based on the image of a long handled one. After receiving the item and reviewing the description, I see that the peel handle is only 9 inches. We were looking for something longer. The item itself looks fine and we will test it in a few days.

Well made, excellent size for sourdough loaves
I have a much larger pizza peel with a long handle that is great for large pizzas in the oven. *** I purchased this one so I could have something less unwieldy in my small kitchen to use for transferring sourdough loaves to the oven. This, dusted with a small amount of rice flour, allows me to remove the loaf from the banneton, score it, and place in the dutch oven without worrying about trying to score the loaf in a hot dutch oven. Perfect size for my use.
