Updated: Mice have figured these out - not super effective
Update to my comments below. I read the other reviews that had tips on using these, which I’ve tried and the effectiveness is much improved. What I did: I followed the advice of loading the hinge side of the trap with peanut butter before setting it, with the open jaws facing the wall. This makes the mouse have to climb into the trap and reach for the bait. Almost immediately I had success, so thank you! I've used Tomcat traps before with great success but these are a different design. After a couple weeks of use I am finding that mice are easily able to take the bait without tripping the trap, and even when they do set it off, they are able to escape. Conversely, they can be difficult to set without tripping them by merely setting them on the ground or placing bait, so watch your fingers. Overall, underwhelmed with my results so far.

It kills mice.....
When these arrived I was skeptical they were strong enough to take care of the mice living in the basement. But I've yet to see a trap disengaged that didn't have a dead mouse inside. They are sooooo much easier to set than the old fashioned spring ones and so much more safter to set. Now if you have a rat problem these are not going to do anything more than scare them but for ordinarily field mice these work just fine.

Touchy and not as strong as the white Tomcat traps
These traps are super sensitive, so much so that they're hard to set without triggering it yourself. But, once it's set, it's also easy to trigger shut, so much so that we have a mouse that manages to snap them before he's properly in position and has managed to spring them and escape on multiple occasions. I've purchased the white/cream Tomcat traps and had great success with those but gave these a try because they were in stock and had decent reviews. Big mistake. Ended up buying those again and now these are sitting in a box in my garage. Maybe I have a super smart mouse? Or maybe these traps just aren't as effective as the cream Tomcat traps.

Just throw them in the garbage after
These work just fine for field mice, I keep at least one trap out all the time. Catch em early before they breed! This isn’t the style I thought I was going to get, but it still works fine for the field mice. Caught 3 mice within 24 hours and haven’t had a bite since. They should have made description better. These are more like a clam shell style. But works just fine for me

Effective but not always humane
I have been using these mousetraps for a while now, and I have to say that they are effective at catching mice. However, I have noticed that sometimes the mice are not killed instantly, and they are still alive and wriggling around when I go to empty the trap. This can be quite disturbing, and I wish there was a way to make the traps more humane. Overall, they work well, but I would recommend using caution and checking the traps regularly.

Unexpected great buy! + TIPS
The media could not be loaded. I've seen some mice activities inside my shed in the backyard so I ordered few different mouse traps from Amazon. To be honest, I was bit disappointed when I received this trap because compared to other mouse traps, it felt flimsy and the spring was weaker for the kill action. If you see the video, you will see that the trap closes on my finger but it doesn't hurt at all. I wasn't sure if this was strong enough to kill the mice. While it was very easy to set up as you simply press down the back, I can tell that the bait area was very sensitive to the touch. This is the only mouse trap I've seen which I can easily set up the trap with just one hand (or even one finger) because it's almost like opening a binder clip, except with less force. I was pleasantly surprised when this caught a mouse 4 days straight! It turned out to be my favorite mouse trap. Again, compared to other mouse traps, this is much easier to set up and reuse due to the simplicity of opening the snap. *** TIPS *** ✔️ Absolutely no need to buy the Attractant Gel for the bait, as advertised on the package. Peanut butter or tootsie roll works the best. ✔️ There's a small circle bait holding area in the middle of yellow tongue but don't put the bait there. Instead, smear very tiny bit of peanut butter all the way on the back side of the tongue or on the spring. You can easily accomplish this from the back side while the trap is in "closed" mode (see pictures and video). This will force the mice to reach in and step on the yellow tongue rather than lick them off clean without ever touching the yellow tongue. ✔️ For best result, place the trap right up against the wall with the teeth facing the wall. ✔️ Monitor the price before jumping into buying because the price of this trap seems to fluctuate a lot as I've seen as low as $3 for the 2 pack. THE BOTTOM LINE: 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended for those who have fear of setting up the traditional mouse trap. Anyone who can use a binder clip can operate this mouse trap. I hope my video and pictures helped and if you have any feedback or questions, leave a note in the comments section. Thank you!

Easy to use
Love the idea. Easy to bait and set. However, after a couple catches, the trap does not always want to reset. Tried cleaning and that helped with one trap. Still have to play around to get them to reset sometimes.

Not Effective
These do not work well for mice. Easily robbed and not always a humane kill when they do work. (The Tomcat rat trap version works very well by comparison.) These are, arguably, inhumane. Lucky I only bought two. Destined to collect dust on my shop workbench.

Bait goes missing. Things suck
All the peanut butter gone no mouse. Has done this 4 times now. But a different make

Spring too weak
Spring seems too weak to be able to kill anything
