It works incredibly well!!!
The media could not be loaded. Update (after a year): The part that emits CO2 stopped working. The reason I know this is that it catches moths but no mosquitoes. I told my neighbor to buy one and hers is filled with mosquitoes. So the question is: was it worth $50? I couldn't go in my backyard without getting attacked by mosquitoes but with this thing I can use my backyard in the summer. I think that's worth $50 so I will order another. It would be nice if it lasted longer than a year (removed a star)... hm, maybe I can get it with an extended warranty? A big portion of Queens, NY was built on a swap. It's still surrounded by swamp and we've got the mosquitoes to prove it. I can't use the backyard because they're so bad so I order this thing hoping it would help. I've had it outside 2 nights and it's catching mosquitoes! Looked quickly because I didn't want to spent too much time out there getting bitten but with a quick glance I saw some buzzing around inside. Also saw some other dead bugs at the bottom. I can't tell you how happy that makes me. I'll report back in a month but so far so good. One thing that bothers me about the unit is the cord is only around 6 feet and the plug has a transformer on it. Connecting it on an extension cord outside is not very waterproof. If you have a covered area where rain will not get the connection wet this will not be a problem. I'll have to disconnect the unit and put it in a dry spot when it rains.

It works indoors. Also, flapper fix.
The media could not be loaded. Works great indoors but has one design flaw easily fixed. Fan is quiet but can hear a low hum if you're in the same room if there’s no other noise. Doesn’t bother me. I live in Mozambique with mosquitos everywhere all year round. The house fills up with them just by entering/exiting the house. I turn it on at night and it catches plenty. The photo shows the results after 3 nights and it’s not even peak mosquito season yet. I'd guess around 40. (I also have the Zap iT Bug Zapper that works great and is very emotionally satisfying to use). The only negative is the flapper system. It's counterweighted so as to open from small force of the fan and yet must be able to close at fan shutoff. This is a delicate balance but mine, along with many others find the flappers won't fully close when you shut the fan off. I use it only at night so when I shut it off in the morning or to take off the lid to empty out, any live mosquitos in there will escape. I cut some heavy gauge copper wire and attached with just a speck of superglue to add a small amount of counterweight which fixed the issue. I tried one piece of wire but that wasn't enough. For my unit, these two pieces on each flapper did the trick. The manufacturer should make this adjustment for better performance but this fix is easy to do. Bottom line, it works great and I'd buy it again.

Light is not bright enough
I purchased this Dyna Trap and a larger one about the same time for home and our cottage. I figured I would use the larger one for home and this smaller DT160SR at our cottage. I can say I'm not impressed by the light output on this unit, I can barely see that it is illuminated. I ran some tests, using the same location I used this DT160SR for a week and then used the larger DT1050SR for a week. Conditions were similar and bug situation was similar except the last day or so of the DT1050SR seemed like less bugs were out. The DT160SR had caught some, but the DT1050SR caught probably 2-3 times as many even with having a day or so of less bug activity. I noticed the DT1050SR drew a lot more bug activity due to a much brighter light, the DT160SR barely drew any bugs nearby, while I was checking I had a lot more swarm me and I made sure no lights were on. I know that test is not an apples to apples comparison but bottom line the DT160SR just didn't attract the bugs with its extremely dim light. I will say the DT160SR design with flaps to hold bugs in is nice because when power is shut off live ones won't fly back out, could put the unit on a timer so it runs evening through dawn for example and not have them flying out in the morning. Also it doesn't look like the bulb is replaceable, I wasn't able to locate where I could purchase a replacement either. Overall I would opt out of buying this unit because it doesn't do a good job achieving its objective. Go for one with a larger bulb that they have replacements available.

Hoping for better results
We have a 3/4 acre lot, and have large out door patios in both the front and back of our property. Because of the lovely dry Southern California weather, it’s where we like to spend a lot of our time. Over the last couple of years the summer mosquitoes have become an issue. I’m talking fierce, bite you through your clothes kind of mosquitoes. My choice was either pay an exterminator $200 a month throughout the summer or buy some sort of zapper. Then I saw this product and thought wow, no annoying light or zapper noise - I’m going to try it. I bought three, one for the front patio and two for the back. Placed each about 3-5 feet above the ground, and about 15-20 feet away from where we sit (as directed). To be on the safe side, I also put a mosquito attractant inside each one. Just to let you know, it didn’t seem to decrease the amount of mosquitoes, and after three weeks my daily bites I gave in and started spraying myself down with ‘Off’. I will say the machine attracted a ton of moths and other flying non-mosquitoes. So if your goal is to get rid of moths, this is the machine for you. If it’s to rid your area of mosquitoes, not so much.

Disappointed!
It does catch moth, but I bought it for mosquitoes and flies; they keep flying, buzzing and stinging ... As I said; disappointed!

Catches a lot of insects
The trap works really well, catches a ton of insects. We bought a second one and are still pleased. Only down side is when you turn it off to empty the trap some are still alive and go all over as the fan shuts off and you empty it.

Buen producto

Dubious claim
The claim that this unit produces carbon dioxide (and hence ATTRACTS mosquitoes) is highly dubious. True, the units traps stray mosquitoes that venture near it. But so do other similar products that cost one-fifth of the price. Forget one-fourth acre, the unit is NOT effective over an area of 30 square meters in ideal conditions (operating at least two hours in complete ambient darkness without human presence). It certainly does not 'attract' mosquitoes, hence the claim that it produces carbon dioxide is suspect. It only traps stray mosquitoes that are attracted to it by its light -- at four or five times the cost of similar products that are just as effective.

No atrapa moscas
