Works well. Pretty customizable schedule.
I'll tell you, the first time you start and stop your sprinklers from inside your house using your phone is a real kick. I decided to try one of these out, because I'm tired of spending the better part of a day moving the hose around the lawn to get good coverage. I started in the back yard, laying hose and putting out 3 Hunter bodies with MP Rotator heads. Then I connected them to this BTT timer, and it works like a charm. Now, I can water at ideal times of day without having to set the alarm clock for crazy time, and when it's time to overseed, it will be very easy to water for 10-15 minutes every morning with zero effort. It's like having a $3000 in ground system installed, but for a small fraction of the cost (although the sprinkler bodies and hoses are above ground - which makes them easier to maintain, so you decide if that is a plus or a minus for you). Bottom line, I'm happy and will be giving my front lawn and side yard the same treatment in the coming weeks, before the hot weather arrives. The app will connect to multiple timers. It also has a fair amount of flexibility for setting your scheduling, though it's not the most intuitive interface ever devised. However, if you are willing to dig through it, it can set a schedule based on days of the week, or on a cycle of days (water every 3 days for example, regardless of what day of the week it is). You can set up multiple run times during the day. You can set it to cycle periodically based on time rather than days (every 3 hours for example). You can also set it to cycle on and off over a defined window of time (run for 15 minutes, stop for 5, repeat, for two hours every morning for example). It rains often where I live (though accumulation is almost never adequate in a week) so this next feature is important: You can suspend the schedule for a selectable number of days. So if we get 1/2" of rain, I can suspend the schedule for 3 days, and it will return to it's normal program afterwards. Of course, you can run this manually, for a selectable period of time. You can also run it manually by physically pressing a button on the timer and it will run for an hour and shutoff automatically. There's probably more capability here, but that's what I've explored so far. A couple nice features in the interface: you can customize the name of each timer and for this model with two outlets, you can customize the name of each outlet (timer=back yard, zone 1=grass, zone 2=shrubs drip) and you can even add pictures to those zones so it's really easy to identify which area you are working with when programming. This does run on two AA batteries. I do not know what the battery life will be like, but after about 5 days running on rechargeables, they are down 2%, so you should have no problem getting a full season out of a set of batteries, especially if you aren't often connecting with the phone to fiddle with them. There are only a few minor things I'd like to see improve in the next generation of this product, or in future app updates: 1. I'd like the app to have a more intuitive design that uses a more plain language approach so that anybody can set their timers up without having to figure out what the different options mean. 2. I'd love to see a slightly more robust bluetooth transceiver on this. The range is limited. I believe the product says 30', but I lose connection about 20' away, and if I am inside, I need to be within about 10' to connect. I know this is a trade-off between battery life and range, but I'd be happy replacing the batteries every 2 months if I could sit on my recliner and connect to various timers on different sides of my house. Maybe another option would be to offer an accessory hub that plugs in somewhere in the house and can extend the signal reach. Overall, I'd say this is a major improvement over other programmable timers I've used, with more options and easier programming. Being able to suspend scheduling or manually water from inside the house is a godsend. Highly recommended.

After one year of use…revising my review and buying more.
Some time after the previous review I reset the device to factory setting, completely erased/deleted the Hunter BTT app. and then tried again. After reinstalling the app and connecting to the device I find it to be perfectly responsive. Creating and adjusting watering schedules is easy and the performance has been consistently good. The Bluetooth range is still short but since I am not having issues adjusting the schedule and the performance is consistent I rarely need to connect to the device. I’m updating my review because I’m about to buy another one of these for my back yard. If I feel confident to invest a little more with hunter and trust a lot of plants to it then it has proven itself to me. I would suggest this to others. Would be five stars except bluetooth range and app design need improvement. It’s a remarkable difference than -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I disregarded the negative reviews. How bad could it be? I assumed I would set a schedule, adjust it every once in a while and carry on with life. Not so fast. The Bluetooth connection issue is real. You literally have to stand casual conversation distance from this controller to connect and maintain a connection. This issue persists while using a new updated and fully charged phone as well as a new, updated controller with a new battery. The biggest issue is the app. So make note of this. Even if you don’t feel like the Bluetooth connectivity issue is a deal breaker (it didn’t matter to me) you will come to find that is just a part of the problem. The app at first glance seems logical. You simply dial in start and stop times or if it’s a cyclical watering schedule select that option and choose from a wide variety of watering times. The problem is that there is no indication the device has accepted your input. Without consistency when I start the app or restart the app I will get a prompt to accept an update to the schedule. It appears that is when the device actually processes your watering schedule. There is no way to make this happen on command. There is no indication the device is processing your input, has disconnected, is finished, or has just wandered off. I’ve been using this controller for a few months now and no matter what process I use I can not trust it to work. I’ve entered times and waited. Entered times and restarted app. Restarted app with blue tooth on. Restarted app and turned Bluetooth off and on. Restarted phone. Etc. It will water sometimes and sometimes it won’t. Sometimes it will tell you the last time it watered. Sometimes it won’t. I just got back from a week long trip thinking I had figured this thing out that I had confirmation the controller accepted my instructions and was working as intended. It had not. This device works great as a dumb on off timer switch. Do not trust it to do more than that.

Limited range
The bluetooth range is very limited and the app is awkward to use to turn the system on manually.

Blue tooth technology NOT WIFI
I agree with many of the 1 star reviewers that you have to be right on top of the unit for your phone to connect via blue tooth. That being said I'm not sure it really matters whether you are 32 feet or 5 feet from the unit in order to connect. Does that save you about 10 steps? The blue tooth connection doesn't work through walls for me so even though my faucet is just outside my living room window I have to go out and stand in front of the unit to get a connection. I bought this because we went on vacation for a week and we had just planted some bushes that I wanted to be watered heavily during this dry spell we have been experiencing. I had no problem setting the device up and connecting my soaker hoses. Pressure was fine for those hoses. I had people check on the device and it watered the bushes as I programmed with no glitch. I gave this a 3 star review because it really does nothing much more than a manual timer. It is not designed to allow you to change the programming remotely (like you can with a smart device via WIFI). I'm not going anywhere else this summer because of the virus and I imagine that I will be looking for a smart wifi device next summer. I did not see any such device when I bought this 6 weeks ago at least not with high enough review ratings that would encourage me to buy it.

Junk product
I gave this a rating of 1 star, only because it would not allow me to enter zero stars. I ordered two of these, followed directions, and programmed them. The screen on my phone showed that they were set to come on at specific times, but they did not turn on. I tried them on manual, and they ran fine. I tried re-programming them, and again they showed the time they were set to run, but they did not turn on. I could not get them to work, except on manual. In my opinion, an automatic timer that only works on manual is a waste of my money, so I returned them both.

Not Australian compatible
Do not buy this if you live in Australia. The NPT threads are American and not compatible with Australian garden fittings, which are BSP threaded. The model sold in Australia has different threads.
