A good unit , probably best in class.
I like this better than my older Claber model 8420. You do not have to use quick connectors so it seems i am getting more flow thus the sprinklers are covering more area. Do not remove the screen as this creates more pressure so you get more flow. Using the manual mode is a little difficult. I found you have tompush the a b buttons for longer than 3 seconds. Likely 5. But dont do 10 or the whole thing will reset and you will lose the programming. Once you activate manual the water takes a few seconds to come on, so be patient. One disadvantage is there is no clock, as others have. Mentioned. So if you want it to come on at 7 am the next day you need to wait until the top of the hour to program. Say 5 pm then add 14 hours. Each hose can be be programmed to come on at a different time or day. I have researched all the other timers. Orbit and Melanor are about a third of the price, but reviews pretty much indicated they wont last long. If you go away for a few weeks you dont want a valve failing and a huge water bill. These things dont last forever.mimusually get 4-5 years. My 8420 faiiled a few days ago in that valve a did not shut off. I was here so it was no big deal. I used it for two days until ai got the replacement and it worked ok but I would not trust it if I were to be gone. Saved it for emergency. Claber is made in Italy, one of the only timers I know of not made in China. The quality is superior in my opinion. There really are no acceptable alternatives, in my opinion.. if you have had a Claber timer you know programming can be difficult until you get used to it. This one seems easier. Watch the you tube video. Hand tightening works with this unit when connecting to a faucet. One caution is if you set a and b around the same time to come on be careful. The unit has the ability to run sequentially or concurrent. I was unable to find out what the factory default is so I programmed valve a to come on and hour before valve B. I suspect the price went up because of the pandemic etc. I searched and could not find a better price than Amazon. There are a few on ebay for $20-30 higher. Not sure why. My old unit cost $90. This was $111.00 plus tax. . One caution. The manual watering feature is hard to use. They tell you to push the And B buttons for at least three seconds. I find I have to do this twice. Be careful you don't push them for ten seconds as this will reset all the watering programs

Most features for the money - a programmable irrigation system on a single hose - but keep the manual nearby and be patient.
This unit does a lot for the money. That often translates into a user interface that is a little complicated, and I keep needing to consult the manual. Should I stand on my left foot while I push the M button, or should I push both buttons and wait for the display to show a blinking hand, and then push the A button? You get the idea. Still, once you learn the sequences, it delivers a lot of flexibility AND you can hook up a rain sensor. The rain sensor was my #1 need, so I am learning to adapt to the interface to have the features for under $200. This is the best value for the money, as long as you keep the manual nearby.

Didn’t last, too expensive.
Leaks in two places ( when in off mode ) after two years. Where connect to faucet, and the A slot. Plastic threads for hoses wear too easily. Loved the convenience the one year. But for the price expected no problems for many years.

Works Well With High Back Pressure Devices
The Claber 8488 Dual Select Advanced Push-Button Digital Water Timer with Two Outlets appears to be well made. The valves close completely even when used with items like a mister and a dripper which have high back pressure. Some other brands won't completely turn off with high back pressure devices. The maximum run time is 90 minutes but the program can be activated as often as three times per day. It is a bit difficult to install or replace the batteries.

Super Quality
I needed a reliable 2 zone system for a 2nd home ... this has a solid housing and is easy to use (once you understand their system). I did have to buy a 6" extension because when it is connected to the hose it is too close to the knob and the plastic lid didn't open. Best part - no leaks!

I have had a Claber timer in use for longer ...
I have had a Claber timer in use for longer than I could remember. The old one finally died and had to be replaced. I opened the old one to see a manufacturing date of 1993. I can only hope this new one lasts that long.

Used
The product is scratched and looks to be used. I was not expecting a used product. I will plan to return it.

I love that this works as a dual zone
I love that this works as a dual zone. Only detractor, it isn't as user friendly as I had hoped. No easy way to just turn on and off, with one button. It took a lot of practice to understand how it worked. I do want to invest in the rain sensor though as it would be great for when I'm away.
