First Impression- good (REVIEW UPDATED 8/10/2017)

It's been two days. I am out of strength trying to get the top to unscrew. My family tried too. It's stuck and that's not how it is designed to be either. The edges where the bottom discs are inserted also has a screw-on lid where is very sharp. The rating lost a star from my original 3-stars because, obviously, a quality check should have been done before selling the item. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The 'brass' one came with a proposition 65 warning (Cancer warning required by California law) and I am not sure what part of this item would carry such a warning. It is hard to tell if this is brass plated or if it is all brass. No details given and it came in a clear plastic bag with no information. It does smell like brass and I had dark dust on my hands after touching this. My attempts to unscrew the top have failed so far. It is shut tight although the bottom came off easily. Out of the accompanying discs, I was really happy to find one that has really fine holes that are ideal for Sri Lankan-style string hoppers or very fine noodles, which I didn't have in a similar set that I owned previously. Overall, I am satisfied so far. But I have yet to use it, wash it, dry it and the performance over time and how it keeps will further determine the star rating.

Horrible product

The top does not thread onto the body of the pasta maker so the entire thing becomes a horrible mess. The cartridge is tiny. The dies hardly produce any pasta at all. Difficult to clean. I would not recommend this product at all--it is more of a pain to use than it is worth.

Great find on Amazon. But dont get your hopes high

Finding sev or murukku maker on prime delivery is a challenge. This gets 5 stars for it. But it arrived bit rusted even though it was stainless steel. Also it is hard to handle when the batter used becomes thick. The pressing type is the best but unfortunately it is a hard to find in America so we probably got to live with this one. Not a bad product and defintely can be bought if you want to make Sev. Just dont have high expectations

Sturdy, smooth and easy to use

I made this to make Chakali- savory churros. It was quite easy to use. The container surprisingly carries a lot of dough at once. It is quite sturdy. Wash it thoroughly before use and wipe every little part with wet cloth. The Greece stays on parts and first two three chakalis had it on them. Once wiped properly, it was fine. Love it! Thanks to Amazon for making such amazing and authentic regional Indian product available in the USA.

Second Time's a Charm - Great Product!

I ordered this product but although it was shiny new (unlike some others who were sent used items), it was defective so I sent it back (the threading on the twist-part was uneven so instead of twisting all the way tightly, it popped out when under pressure). Amazon immediately sent a replacement and it works great! I love Indian fried snacks but wanted to make them cheaply at home. My first lesson was to make sure the flours are ground up completely or little pieces clog the tiny holes. I am happy with my purchase, the brass is heavy and well made.

A nice addition to kitchen for making snacks .

A good kitchen tool if you like to make Indian savory. Multiple shape design makes easy homemade cookies and snacks. I wish it had a push type plunger instead of the rotating one as that would free up one of the hand.

Value for Money

Good build quality, nice dough lines and easy to clean. Just remember to oil up (Cooking Oil) the grooves for easy manoeuvrability.

NOT GOOD FOR CHAKALI

The product is absolutely fine but, it cannot be used for making 'Chakali'. They don't have the right size disc template to make Chakalis. The star shaped template which is provided with the product is too small to be used for Chakalis. So if you are a Marathi or want to make Chakalis or Murukku, please think twice. I am gonna have to return this one.

I had previously owned the machine but misplaced in moving. Anyways i find it is narrow and also the rim on the top where the lid is, It is very sharp, if not careful you could hurt yourself..

Dont buy- very poor quality

I used this to make idiyappam. After the first use the internal plate was completely bent. Very poor quality. Don’t waste your money on this product
