Cleans well, but not on shiny floors
I got this little steamer because, for one, I LOVE my Shark vacuums. Also, our house has all polished travertine floors. I thought maybe this steamer will help me to not have to get down on my knees and hand wash and wipe these floors. Well, the steamer does a great job cleaning, no doubt about it, but because we have shiny floors, it made the floors streaky. I was so bummed. If you have non-shiny floors, this steamer is a 5-star product. I completely recommend it!!

falls down
Nice lightweight and cleans tiles well as long as dirt not "stuck on". Does not stand up by itself' have to rest it against walls and counters - and then still falls down - annoying!

Not so hot steamer
I purchased this item in late November of 2022. Used it about a dozen times and steamer is no longer working. It says there is a limited one year warranty but there is No one to contact to get help with item.

All Good
Love this thing, replaced a 20 year old one, then fixed it and now use it in the garage. Use for tile floors and works great!

Works pretty well; no off/on switch
This review is for the Shark Steam Pocket Mop model S3501 (sometimes Amazon lumps reviews together; it's good to have the right make and model number from the start of the review). I bought the Shark steam mop primarily for vinyl flooring (although we do have one ceramic tiled bathroom, along with ceramic in the entrance way and by the fireplace). Preamble: Our kitchen catches the brunt of stuff tracked in from outside; it's directly off of the garage and there's no "mud room" for swapping soiled boots or shoes for household slippers. To be frank, the darned floor gets (at times) absolutely grungy. Normal light cleaning is with a sponge mop head (with scrubber head on the reverse side) using kitchen floor cleaner and followed up by a rinse. Heavy cleaning entails a bucket, hot water, kitchen floor cleaner, and a scrub brush. That last bit is tough on my knees, thus the try out of the Shark. The Shark came well packaged and on time (gotta love Prime free 2 day shipping) and assembly was a breeze, no tools required. There are four parts, the main body, the handle that slides into the main body, the swivel mop head which attaches to the other end of the main body, and the "mop" (the fiber material that is the part that actually does the work). The thing will only fit together one way and I didn't need to read the manual to figure out the setup. (I did, of course, read the manual before actually filling and using the Shark). Distilled water is recommended; our area has hard water and I have no issue in providing the proper water to the device in order to maximize its effectiveness and lifetime. A measuring cup is provided for use in filling the water chamber. Fill the unit with water (it's noted that ONLY water be used - soap, vinegar, etc. are not recommended!), plug it in and wait a half minute or so to let the thing heat up. Note that only the pad gets hot, the handle and body of the mop stay cool to the touch. I wouldn't recommend grabbing onto the pad, though, once it's in operation. "Warm" doesn't cover it. The recommended procedure is to manually pump the sliding handle a few times to get the steam action going; after that the natural "to and fro" mopping action keeps things percolating (so to speak). I tried the machine an an extremely dirty floor (on purpose; I don't need it for light duty mopping, I need it to work like a scrub brush but without getting down on my aged knees). I did sweep the floor before starting the test - the Shark isn't a vacuum. For dried stains I had only to let the mop head rest for a few seconds in one spot - and the stains were lifted off when I started the mopping action again. I was pretty impressed by the ability of the mop to remove the ground in soil on the vinyl flooring; when I took a look at the mop head cover it was completly soiled! I flipped the mop to the clean side of the mop head cover and I went back over the floor again, getting even more material up and when done the floor looked about as well (for the main part) as I could have done with brush and mop. HOWEVER - our counters "overhang" the floor by a couple of inches, being about 3 or 4 inches above the vinyl. The heating duct is in part this arrangement, so that on cold winter mornings there is heat being directly blown onto ones toes. The Shark had a problem with that arrangement; it fit under the overhang nicely and did a good job of cleaning the vinyl floor - until it came to a corner or a wall. At that point the Shark left a small amount of debris in each corner. No matter how I tried to angle the mop head it simply couldn't get the last little bits of dirt up with the mop head cover edge. Difficult to explain, but one could see a small dirty spot in each corner where the counters met the walls. Of course, it must be remembered that the floor was unusally dirty; I think that under normal conditions there would not be enough dirt picked up by the mop head cover edge to allow it to be deposited in the corners. Still, I had to manually clean the corners with a damp mop after the Shark had run its course. That and the lack of an off/on switch lead me to reduce my rating of the Shark by one star. Any appliance that has a 20 foot cord that can put you away from the location that it's plugged into should come with a switch. Sometimes running back to unplug a device simply isn't practical. I'm 5'9" tall and the size of the mop is just about right - not too long to impede moving and not too short to make me bend to use it. The handle is large and easy to grip. The water reservoir cap is easy on / easy off and the whole thing weighs only a few pounds. There is a built in cord wrap for storing the device. Overall, though, the Shark is a keeper and a welcome addition to our war on the kitchen floor. HTH Regards, Jim

Time tested *with UPDATE
I've had my Shark now for over two years and it's still going strong! I was honestly nervous after receiving my steam mop because it did feel a little flimsy. However, that being said...it would be tiring to use a heavy solid mop that holds added weight in water! We decided to go with the steam for several reasons but first, because my daughter suffers from severe allergies! This mop uses no cleaners and does a much better job than a traditional mop and bucket. I also liked the "green" factor of no cleaner and washable pads. I have washed and reused the cleaning pads too many times to count and not a single one of them is showing any signs of wear!! (not counting some staining of course) Also, one of my daughters accidentally dropped my Shark down the basement stairs and cracked the plastic housing...didn't effect the mop in the least. It feels no flimsier and hasn't worsened as I've continued using it...and it doesn't leak. It's plastic...I don't blame the mop for breaking when the same daughter dropped my cast iron pan down the same stairs and that also broke ;) We have finished hardwood floors, laminate floors, tiled floors, Allure floors and oiled pine floors...this mop works wonderfully on every one of them! I've used it to remove general dirt and grime, sticky nasties, wax, crayon, marker, paint, wood stove ash residue, unidentifiable kid & pet surprises and numerous food spills all with great success! I have recommended this mop several times and will do so several more times I'm sure! The only drawback, by the way, to steam mopping is during peak humid summer weather, although the added humidity during the dry winter months is great! ;) ***UPDATE*** Sadly my Shark pocket mop finally died :( It stopped making steam after 4 years! My super handy husband popped it open and removed one tiny little part and it worked again...but only for a couple more moppings. So...after four years of using the daylights out of it I am back to buy a new mop...just an FYI in those four years we have had 8 children, 2 adults, several animals and countless house guests traipsing in and out! I did the research...I read the reviews...I compared prices. For the money...I am buying another Shark Pocket Mop! Things I've learned... I originally bought the mop with several heads. I only used the rectangular one. I have an open floor plan so if you have tight spaces the triangular head may work better for you. I didn't use the carpet attachment either...with my daughter's allergies we got rid of all our carpeting...which means our entire house is bare, steam-moppable floors...this mop gets USED! Our house is not large...28x26, two and a half levels with moppable floors with a mostly open floor plan. The cord reached every area from one central outlet.**UPDATE** The cord on the new mop is shorter than the old one. I was disappointed, but it still mops the same...only now I have to move the plug to more than one outlet...not a deal-breaker for me** I also never had to buy replacement pads in the four years I've owned them! They are no longer white...but they still work beautifully! I occasionally tried the big purple fluffy pad that came with mine but I wasn't totally thrilled with it...maybe because it took longer to wet enough to clean with...admittedly I just want to get mopped and be done ASAP. If I came across an especially hard spot to get clean I simply (with shoes on!) stepped on the head and applied pressure and steam for several seconds and rarely had anything not come up...even cooled candle wax :) Most other mops don't look like you could step on the head without damaging it. By far my favorite feature is the reversible mopping surface! I mop half of one level (it actually could do more) then simply flip the mop over to mop the rest with the clean side! LOVE that! No changing scalding hot pads part way through a mop job or waiting for it to cool down enough to change it! I also got one level done on one tank of water with some left over :) AND...even though it said to use distilled water I never did....I used straight well water from the tap...and we have high iron in our water. I am most definitely a fan...especially for a price that's nearly half of many of the other steam mops out there! I am sorry that some other reviewers did not have the same experience I have had. I understand that this is an electronic appliance. My new one may have a manufacturing flaw that my old one didn't. You will get that with ANY electronic device...some will be flawless...others DOA. A definite pain, but for this mop, in my opinion...well worth the risk :) FOUR years...and 3 months to be exact! I totally got my money's worth!

Goods mop
Bought this to replace my smaller shark steam mop. This is easy to use, cleans well, love that the mop flips so you can use both sides of the cleaning cloth. Heats up quick. Only downside is that it's not very easy to refill and the tank doesn't hold that much water,.do I am having to refill the tank quite often. Great mop for the price.

Great mop, easy to use!
The product description says that it a Sharp steam mop, but it is actually a Shark steam mop. Not that it makes a difference, it’s a great product regardless!
