We have two homes and I wanted something like this to place in each utility room. So far, so good (I bought 2). They installed (phone app) without a hitch and are definitely working. One sent regular humidity alerts till I calibrated it for "normal" in it's location. Nice looking. Unobtrusive. Phone app works fine toggling between the two.

Works Flawlessly

Works flawlessly as advertised. I set it up to send alerts via email, and then forwarded the email to a text/sms server. The alerts are sent to everyone in my family (yes, they were annoyed during the testing phase! ). I can see temperature history, humidity, and water alerts. I tested the water sensing extensively. If you plan to place this unit on a metal surface, you will have to set it on a paper towel because the contact sensors conduct current when on the metal. I put mine on a metal capture pan under my AC air handler on a paper towel. I tested it on a baking sheet pan by slowly dripping water on the paper towel. Worked perfectly. I keep checking the battery and so far it still shows nearly 100%, so I trust that it will last for multiple years at this rate. The app is also impressive and easy to use. There are cheaper units out there, but this is worth the money.

Good battery life

We have been using this for a year at home now, battery still did not die. It also sends email notification in case your app is not logged in. Gives most likely wrong humidity alarms but good that it senses the temperature and humidity too. You can put it to drains pans (if steel, on a paper towel), in case they get clogged.

Not a good system

I bought some extra senors to us with the GROHE Sense Guard unit. Great German engineering with poor German software. The system doesn’t work with water softeners (need to bypass it) and while it has a lawn sprinkler mode, I can’t get that to work properly as it always shuts off the water when the sprinklers are running.

Well constructed. Operationally works as desired and expected. No difficulties at all with iOS app.

This is a nicely packaged device that stands alone and is powered by a single long-life battery. Instructions were straight forward and the unit was quickly connected to my wifi and to a related iOS app on my iPhone. The sensor sits on the floor and detects if an electrical connection is made between two contacts on the base of the unit, where such a connection results from the unit finding itself sitting in a puddle of water. I placed mine on the floor near the incoming water connection for the house. Once a day the unit checks in with the network, providing the average temperature and humidity level, with push notifications possible for excursions from user-set ranges or for detection of liquid water. So I set up a range of temperature and humidity. The first few days, I received a number of notifications. Two issues had arisen. The first is that the unit itself takes a few days to acclimate and to determine a correct average temperature and humidity. The second is for the user to recognize that the temperature and humidity on a basement floor is likely to be somewhat different than your basement thermostat will detect, particularly since the thermostat is probably mounted five or so feet above the floor on an inside wall. My basement thermostat is set to 58 degrees, and the basement usually is within a degree or so of that, but the Sensor reports an average of 53 degrees, which turns out to be correct based on a thermometer I placed near the Sensor. A test with a small puddle of water, thankfully one I created rather than one resulting from a leak, resulted in my being properly notified. The notifications work even when your phone is not on the same network as the Sensor. Further, I had no trouble accessing information from the Sensor when away from the house. I was particularly pleased that the Sensor has been able to remain connected to the network even though the network hub is quite far from the basement. Overall, I'm pleased with having the ability to quickly detect water-related problems even when I'm not around. The app provides good feedback that includes battery level within the Sensor. The entire unit works as desired.

Excellent for remote warning

This product will notify you regarding water, humidity or temperature problems. It is especially important if you are away from your home. Seems overpriced but peace of mind can be expensive.

This device + the GROHE app = peace of mind

Very powerful device that captures humidity levels and temperature, on top of alerting you of any water leaks. I love all the information that we get with this device and the grohe app.

I still am not confident the device is working, and efforts for tech support have gone unanswered.

It’s unproven, I was unable to test it prior to leaving as I ran into difficulty signing up. I requested a follow up but I have not heard anything. I am still not sure if it’s set up properly.
