Blends into appliances

I bought this item to keep my freezers closed, not for safety. Upon noticing my freezers sometimes opened again after they were closed, I decided to secure them with childproof closers. I bought white to match my freezers and was concerned the item might be obvious and stand out. I was happy to find the latch does blend in to the appliance. The latch is thin, so it does not stick out. The clasp is not wide, so it does take a bit of time to figure out the best way to open it. It is not a simple as some people make it seem. I do not think toddlers have the dexterity to open the latches.

had refrigerator in garage needed door gasket 112.00 refrigworked great was going to get a new one door kept opening and inside was building up water from moister i saw these on amazon and for such a small price i thought ill try them really great not only keeps refrigerated air tight [no moisture it is also a safety for my great grandson

Easy to use and keeps fridge secure

These were purchased to keep my 3 1/2 year old from accessing the fridge without parent supervision after an early morning escapade left us with half a cake. The application was easy. Clean the area with rubbing alcohol, peel the paper off the sticky pads and stick them onto the fridge. I applied some even pressure to ensure that they secured properly. You are suppose to let the adhesive cure for 24 hours. We managed to leave it to cure for about 14 hours and they have stayed secured. I've accidentally yanked on this without unlocking it and it has not broken yet. You'd have to exert a lot of pressure or be constantly yanking on it to make it break. It unlatches fairly easily with just one hand and is easy to lock back together. I have not tried to remove it yet, so I can't speak to what the adhesive may do to the fridge. I wouldn't use these on an uneven or marbled surface as the air pockets under the adhesive would make it less effective. It's not the prettiest thing but it's barely noticeable on our white fridge. I also leave it unlocked during the day when we are around to supervise anyway. If you want to leave it unlatched sometimes, one thing you have to watch out for is that the strap doesn't get stuck in the seal between the door and fridge. Overall I was skeptical that this would hold up to toddlers and adults accidentally yanking on it, but it has been very effective and easy to use thus far. EDIT (10/02/2016): We moved out of our old apartment so I wanted to update on how well the adhesive allowed us to remove this. One piece came off really easily once you exerted the force needed to peel it. The second piece (the smaller one that fits on the side) was a little more difficult. We had to carefully pry that one away but once we got it started it came off and left minimal residue. The residue is easy enough to clean off with cleaners or rubbing alcohol. No damage at all to the fridge.

Door safety

Great for everyone - keeps your freezer/fridge doors closed so no spoiled food; great for RV/trailers; great for babies & toddl

Babies & toddlers: These work great for babies & toddlers, if they are well supervised - babies & toddlers are crafty, if you leave them alone, they will crack the code on opening these. We never let ours see how we opened it - ha! That bought us 3yrs before the latches were figured out. ALL fridge/freezer doors: Long after the baby & toddler years, we still use ours on every fridge and freezer door!! After my husband left our standing freezer open, and we lost hundreds of dollars of food, we put these on everything! Now we never have to worry about spoiled food. If you locked this, then you know that the door is closed, and even no food inside can push the door open either. Excellent!! No more ruined food! RV use: We also use them in our travel trailer - we travel thousands of miles every year, and like the peace of mind knowing that important cabinets haven't opened up while we're on the road. I recommended keeping a spare or two in your rv/trailer, if you travel often, because these do sometimes pop off the wooden cabinet surfaces. The good news is that even the fake wood surface of our ultralight trailers cabinets has not come off from the foam adhesive :) (whew!) We give these five stars because these are terrific latches! You will have to replace them over time - either the latch's hard plastic part will break from frequent use, or else the sticky tape foam will pop off your RV/trailer cabinet at random moments (these weren't made to stick on cabinets, but hold forever on fridge/freezer doors). Just go back to your Amazon previous orders list, and reorder them. Never having to throw out the contents of your freezer or eating spoiled meat in the fridge, makes these A GREAT BUY!! :)

We love these but one broke without heavy use

I bought these probably 5 or 6 months ago to install on our garage refrigerator to make sure that it stays shut. They are hardly used as we don’t go into that refrigerator regularly. The other day one of the clips broke and we had to buy another set. I love what it does and it’s functionality so far. Although we had to replace one already, it does everything we ask it to. 4 out of 5 stars (minus a star for durability)

Added in our motorhome, so when riding down the road making a turn fridge door don’t just open like it use to do dumping everything out. Yes some of it’s my fault not slowing down to make certain turns. This helped out great!

Worked good but kept breaking

Went through 4 of these … they worked to keep the toddlers out of the fridge but the latch kept snapping in half… we thought it might be because we kept forgetting about in the beginning and it was being shut inbetween the door and it’s very likely but the snap where it broke it’s quite thin… it did help in the beginning when my boys were constantly opening the fridge

Excellent for our basement fridge

Our basement fridge doesn't stay closed, so this latch set is perfect for the task. The 2-pack gives us a spare for when the latch gives up the ghost (this is our second purchase) - they seem to last for about 5 years or thereabouts. :). Good value all around.

Broke.

The plastic used for this product seemed very old and brittle. Broke when the child closed the door behind me. Should not have broken under such little impact. Cannot recommend

Does the job! Kid knows how to do them up but not undo them. She also has stopped trying at this point to even get in the fridge.

Can be improved

My son was able to pull on the latch itself and it came off. I have to keep reapplying it back. Also i feel that it could stretch a bit more to fit the size of the fridge. Most of the ones i have seen do not
