Most Amazing Heater! And QUIET!!
Warning, long review. And probably TMI. TLDR: Absolutely awesome heater once you figure out the best placing and setting. And it DOES work well even in an RV in below freezing temps. Pro tip: Plug into an outlet, not an extension chord, unless it's a heavy duty outdoor yellow one. Don't plug in other things on the same plug/breaker. This heater is nothing short of amazing. I wasn't impressed with the fans put out by this company, because while they move air you can't really feel it unless you're right in front of it, but this heater is just unbelievable in how well it heats a room. Regular space heaters are dangerous at the Hi temp, do Ok at the Low temp, and only truly can be safely run when you're at home. They also, for all the intense heat they can put out, don't really heat a room that well. I live in an RV and usually ended up using 1 heater in 60 to 70 degree weather, 2 space heaters in 50 to 60 degree weather, 3 in 40 to 50, and 4 in below 40. To be safe, I would buy new ones every year or two and run the 4th one to an outside plug. My electric bill would be as high as my AC bill in the summer. The Vornado heats the ENTIRE room as long as you have it set in the optimum spot and leave it on to regulate temperature. You wouldn't think it could. The first time I tried the 1st one I bought last year, I thought it was broken or defective because it put out very little heat, or so it seemed. But I gave it time to heat the room and when I came back in an hour later, it was almost uncomfortably warm. *TIP: It needs to be set up to where it can blow across a room unobstructed and have air flow to the backside.* I use this in my bigger area (living room and kitchen), which is 20Lx10Wx9H, and keep my ceiling fan on the reverse flow. What I found: The HI (3) setting I reserve for when it's under 50 outside. This is the setting that will allow you to feel some heat if you personally need warming up. The medium (2) setting is great for 45 degrees and up. The low (1) for 55 and up. But that's for me in my RV's main area. It may be different for a better insulated room with lower ceilings. I do have to run a second heater, a space heater, to add some extra heat in the room when it gets below 35, but that's because of my poor insulation, not because the Vornado is in any way a bad heater. It's also so quiet you wouldn't know it's running until you get close to it. Vornado sticks by their warranty and responds fairly promptly. The ONLY con about this heater is finding the optimum setting as it changes depending on room temperature, and if there's a cold wind blowing outside. I tend to run it between 3 and 6 depending on outside temps and what setting I have it on. Other people may find they need to set it differently. I like my RV between 70 and 75 in the colder months for my elderly cat. As of now 10/12/19, we dropped to 48 degrees from 80 in the space of an hour yesterday morning. I left a space heater running in both rooms (at the marked spots I had figured out equalled 70-75), because I couldn't get to my Vornado quickly, and because it had originally said we would get up to 70 degrees. It only got up to 55 outside and I came home to inside being 65, with the heaters likely having run the whole time (On Low). I found my Vornado and set it up on HI, left the space heater on at 70, just in case, and waited. Within an hour, my RV was at 76. I adjusted it to 5 at medium and it dropped to 70 inside in an hour. I left it at 5 but turned on HI and went to sleep, with the space heater still on for support just in case. Woke up to 75 degrees inside, 55 outside. So, I think I've figured out the settings: At HI 4 is 70, 5 is 75, 6 is 80, 7 is 85, when you leave it on constantly to regulate the temperature. Approximately. I'm sure the heat setting makes that vary some, but maybe not. I don't think my space heater has come on since the Vornado got going. This is by far the best investment you could make on a heater for a room. Edit 11/11/19 I left this morning with it being warm at 70. It was predicted to drop to the 40s by 8 pm. No problem, I thought. I left the Vornado on at #2 heat #5 on the dial. I also had a digital space heater set at 72 on Low just in case I got home late. Well, it dropped 4 hours early and I raced home at 6 because I was sure my poor elderly cold sensitive cat would be freezing. I've never had less than 4 heaters going in 40 or under weather. It's a nice 70 degrees inside while it's 35 outside. See pictures. I'm going to try only running the Vornado tonight on #3 heat #5 on the dial and see what happens. It's supposed to get down to 28 tonight. Edit 9/15/20 I dusted off my Vornado and used it last week when we had a cold front blow through. We went from 75 lows to 50s low and a high the next day of 75. It was the only heater on during this 24 hour period of time and with my elderly cat having passed away, heating the place above 70 isn't necessary anymore. The heater worked great. I set it on the #2 setting and put the dial between 3 and 4. With cold wind blowing outside and temps in the 50s the heater managed to heat my RV up to 75. I adjusted the dial a smidge and my place stayed between 70 and 72 all night. I will never buy any other brand of heater ever again as my main heat source. Edit 11/11/22 Still LOVE this brand of heater. Best in it's class plus some! My ONLY complaint is and has been the internal thermostat. We had a drop from 70s to 40s yesterday. I have since purchased a thermostat plug specifically for heaters and ACs, still on the dedicated plug, that more accurately reads temps in the room, particularly in the area I want a certain temperature. Paired together, it's a "set it and forget it" situation. I never again have to worry that as long as the power is on, my RV has reliable heat in cold temps, and that it won't go into roast mode, or shut off too soon. AND my electric bill dove down to below $50. Win win win! I have not received anything at a discount for my review or had any offer of such.

Hot, smoked dog hair apparatus but outstanding customer service!
UPDATED REVIEW: I took another shot at cleaning my heater at the beginning of this cold season because I ended up forgetting about the heater once it got warmer out. So, I kept it stored in it's box until taking it out and cleaning it thoroughly, trying to look in to be sure it was free from debris. I plugged it in and continued watching and smelling for any burning type of smell. Success! I had my heater back and used it, taking good care of it. I used it from October until the end of January when it completely stopped working. The light came on, but the fan did not and it was not giving any heat. When turning the dial, it did sound as if the thermostat was kicking on, but still no heat. This sounds like a fairly common issue per other reviews. I checked everything that I could think of. I emailed Vornado on January 24, 2020 with the issue, model and serial number. I received a response on January 31, 2020 with a request to cut the cord 1-2" from the unit and picture of it showing the serial and model numbers. I replied on February 4, 2020 with picture and quickly received a reply that a new unit will be shipped out to me, which I received today, February 7, 2020. So, I received a brand new unit within 2 weeks, which surely would have been even sooner if I had replied sooner. I am SOOOO pleased with the customer service and that they gave me no turn-around or hassle with my complaint and didn't require me to ship the old one back or wait for repairs. I bumped up the stars to 4 for the awesome customer service and performance of the heater when it did work. The seemingly faulty design causing it to suddenly die, how difficult it is to clean out or even see inside of the unit, as well as the large size of the gaps between the slats allowing in extra debris kept me from giving 5 stars. However, with that said, I would definitely purchase another Vornado unit, should the kinks be worked out and updated. The great customer service from Susan made all the difference! One last note- I could have sworn that I registered my old unit, but I have not come across anything in the info with the new unit stating to do so, but I'll check online to be sure. If so, don't forget to send in the warranty card if you receive one or register it online if it is an option. May save you a headache should your unit be faulty. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased this heater 7 months ago and have been using it fairly often since. I bought it mainly to use in my frigid office at work given reviews that it is really quiet and had positive safety reviews. It IS very quiet- a bit of white noise, but nobody would ever know that a space heater was running underneath your desk. The heat that it gives off is incredible. It quickly warmed up my mid-size living room to a really cozy tempetature when we had frigid temperatures and allowed me to keep the furnace set low because we were burning through heating oil so quickly. The unit does NOT get hot at all and the tipping safety shut off worked great. I LOVED this heater.... I actually took it back and forth from home to work and back home every single day. I cleaned per the directions in the guide often. Yesterday, I flicked it on and started to do some reading, but a really strong burning smell caught my attention and the heater was smoking. I turned off, unplugged. A bit later I went to take a look at it, but it is really hard to see inside of it the way that the vent slats are tilted. The only way to open it up I think, is by the 2 screws by the handle. I couldn't get them to budge and stopped before I stripped the screws. Looked at the cleaning instructions just in case I had missed something. It states to use a vacuum attachment to clean it from the outside and clean the vent slats. I found an angle which to hold the heater to be able to see some of the inside- not a one person job because of the awkward shape of it. Using the long skinny wooden end of a incense stick, I inserted it inside and felt around hoping to fish out whatever was in there. Dog hair and more dog hair. Burnt. This would have caught fire if I left it running. I worked at it for a long time then used the hairdryer on the high cold setting to blow anything left and loosened out... not much flew out. Plugged it in thinking that I got it all... started smoking. I'm done with it. I did send my warranty card in, so I'll return it, but the gaps between the vent slats are pretty big and apparently suck a lot in... there is no screen like a hairdryer has to filter and keep dust and hair out. The cleaning instructions don't do the job and it is not easy to open... if you even SHOULD open it at all. If you have a dog that sheds and even if you keep it cleaned up, I would absolutely NOT purchase this. Other things can fit through well also. The replacement will be staying at the office I guess!

Impressive little heater, heats my entire basement
This product is amazing. First off the body of this heater barely gets hot, very safe. I can put my hand directly on to the front while it is on and not have to move my hand away, the sides and back stay cool. They mean every word when they say evenly heats a whole room. I stay in a basement and I have had many different types of plug in heaters. All my old heaters would only heat a relatively small area in front of them. The Vornado heats the entire room evenly, I was amazed! With my old heaters I would have to point it at me and keep it close, but with the Vornado I stick it in the middle of the room opposite wall from where I sit and it heats the room like central heat. On top of that I think I have used the highest setting 2 times, but the weather outside was in the negative digits (Colorado). I usually run on medium or low. I would recommend this product over and over again, great buy!

Heats the whole bedroom
I bought this after seeing it top-rated on wirecutter. My old space heater was near my bed and I would notice some heat in a couple of minutes. I placed this Vornado heater about eight feet from the head of my bed, and left, closing the door of my bedroom. I returned about ten minutes laterand felt no difference. "Bummer" I thought. But when I return about 20 minutes later I noticed that the entire bedroom ((about 12 x 15) felt comfortable. Not warm, but the chill was gone. That's exactly what I wanted: warming the whole room and doing it quietly. Good job Vornado. Made in China.

if not living in the USA do not buy this product as it requires a very large expensive transformer ,
Not suitable for use outside the USA.Requires expensive and very large transformer to make it work safely.

Seems nice.
So far runs cool to the touch, and quiet to the ears, but puts out a nice stream of heat. My only wish for a unit like this was for a slightly longer more robust power cord. It won't heat your room anymore than a cheaper unit, but in every other way it's probably better. (I say probably because I'm not in the business, how would I know? I know it isn't sparking or popping at least.)

Does what is advertised to do.

Quite and looks nice
A little expensive but it is very quiet and warms the room at an ok rate. I use it in combination with a thermostat to warm our nursery. No worries of noise or heating room to quickly or not being able to keep up.

Almost lasted 4 yrs
UPDATE as of 18/OCT/2020: The ON/OFF button overheated yesterday, and after I turned it off, it won't turn on anymore, because the button is stuck (probably melted). So I pretty much got 3 yrs 11 months of usage out of this heater... Warm for small spaces, the best aspect of this heater is that you wan't have to worry about it melting. It's definitely not super warm, so during winter, you'll still need to gear up in a hoodie, sweatpants, and slippers.
