Great shower system and great price!
I literally spent more than a year going back and forth about purchasing this shower head system. Looking back, I wish I had not waited so long. I was mostly hesitant about installation. I'm a fairly handy mom/wife. I do quite a bit of woodworking but when it comes to plumbing, especially attaching parts that go back into the wall, I get super nervous. That being said, the installation of this overall was really not that bad. The most nerve-wracking step was drilling into my tile for the lower part of the mount as I opted for this part to be secured with screws as opposed to only relying on the sticky back. I'm glad I did that because it really helps me to feel more secure about the overall sturdiness and strength of the unit over time. I purchased two of these so I could install them in both of our showers and I feel like I got an outstanding deal because I took a little bit of a chance and chose the option to purchase second-hand, open box. Because I did that, instead of paying $170 for the polished chrome, 2.5gpm, I paid only $90. So I essentially got two for almost the same price of one. In one of my showers I did, as others have mentioned, have to purchase a longer nipple in order for it to reach the plumbing inside the wall. That was not a big deal at all as we have a plumbing parts store close by and the part was only $3. When I drilled the holes for the lower mount I marked the depth of the drill bit with a piece of tape so I wouldn't drill too far and possibly hit pipes (this distance is clearly stated in the instructions). I also went about 1/4" at a time and was constantly cleaning out the hole and looking with a flashlight to be sure I wasn't hitting anything in the wall that I shouldn't be. The other part that was a bit scary was checking for leaks inside the wall, I decided to use q-tips to poke around the pipe while the shower was running so I could pull them out and then check for any drips. This worked great. So even though that process scared me so much to the point I was almost about to hire a plumber to install it, I'm so glad I was able to save the money and do it myself. You just need to take your time and double check each step as you go. We've had these installed now for a little over a month and I am so happy with them. The biggest upgrade for us was that the location of our shower heads are very low so this upgrade allowed several inches of head room above where the plumbing comes out of the wall. That was by far the number one reason I wanted something new and finding this system allowed me to gain the height without having to redo the plumbing...huge bonus in my opinion and obviously a big money saver as well. We are happy with the water pressure and love the spa like feel this has given our 1980's shower. One last thing I want to address for anyone interested...YES, you CAN use BOTH shower heads at the same time. That was another part of the reason it took me so long to finally purchase was because I kept seeing conflicting information about that feature. Everyone who answered the question said "No, you can only use one shower head or the other, not both" and that is absolutely not true. What I think people have confused about this question is that when you turn the knob to change shower heads, if you go all the way one direction you get just the rainfall head and then if you go all the way the other direction you get just the handheld head. There is no set position though. It's a very smooth transition to change it and therefore if you want both shower heads to run at the same time you simply turn the knob halfway instead of all the way. Granted, you will notice a difference with the pressure when you have both heads running together but I wanted to be clear that it DOES work both ways. I feel these shower head systems are made with good, quality parts and will last for a very long time.

You Get What You Pay For & This Beauty Is Worth Every Penny. High-Quality, Beautiful, Well-Designed, Easy to Install.
After recently moving into our new home it quickly became evident that opportunities for improvement were everywhere. One of these opportunities was in the shower. I'm about 6'1" and most heads tend to be at just about the right height to get me wet from the nipples down. I don't understand why you'd install the shower head against the far wall and only extend them out about 6" from the wall. This usually leads to lots of bending and contorting to ensure proper rinsage. Anyway, our new house was no different. I started shopping around for a replacement shower head about a week after we moved in and like everything else, I quickly found out that there are a ton of options. With prices starting at $20 and quickly heading into the thousands, I knew I had some homework to do. The shower stall in our master bathroom is one of those drop-in fiberglass dealies that all of the tract home builders are using. I wasn't about to start cutting and drilling my way around it and I certainly didn't want to mess around with re-plumbing the system (I sweated pipes during a shower installation once and nearly burnt down our house) so this cut out a large number of shower systems with such requirements. Speaking of requirements, here was what I wanted: -High-quality -Rain shower head -Extended shower arm -Handheld unit with adjustable flow -Minimal plumbing required The PULSE Showerspas line has excellent reviews, installs in less than an hour (according to the box) and is built like a tank. You know how you can just tell that a product is built to last the first time you touch it? This is one of those products. The fittings, the valves, the finish, even the shower heads themselves are all made very well. Full disclosure - I actually ordered another showerhead/handheld combo unit and as soon as I took it out of the shoebox it was in immediately repacked it and sent it back. It was cheaply made and destined for failure. Anyway, I can't tell you how happy I am with this purchase. As far as installation goes, it took me about 90 minutes. I wouldn't call my installation typical, though, as I had to mess around with the shower neck length coming out of the wall to get it right. The included brass nipple that connects to the water line in the wall was just a bit too long so I ended up using the old escutcheon to fill some of the gap (see the close-up image). There's still a bit of brass showing, but I don't mind it all that much. Basically, you put the unit together and everything connects with hose fittings and rubber o-rings. They even include little baggies with a schmear of grease for the o-rings. Oh, and an allen wrench is also included for the set screws. They truly thought of everything. You will need to supply your own pipe wrenches and pliers, though. As far as home improvement installs go, this was about as painless as they get. There was one minor thing. The adhesive pad that attaches the bottom of the vertical pipe to the shower wall has a peel-off part that is a bit of a PITA to remove. And be careful that you've got everything plumb before you press it to the shower wall, because that sucker is very sticky. Seriously. It won't come back off. I've read online where some people have removed the check valves and other little pieces to improve their water flow rates, but I didn't have to monkey around with any of that. Our house has pretty killer pressure as it is, so even when running both the handheld unit and overhead rainshower head at the same time we get amazing flow. Lucked out in this aspect. Another great feature is the ratcheted adjustment into which the handheld unit sets. You adjust it and it stays put. A small but important feature that not every combo unit like this has. Something else you need to be aware of, the piping between the handheld unit and the overhead big shower head holds a pretty good amount of water. This means that as you're showering and using one or the other shower heads, the one you're not using is losing temperature. This is especially true of the overhead piece. I'm not saying it'll get cold, but it will cool down significantly and when you switch the valve from one to another you will notice. Also, make sure you've run hot water through both units before you get in the shower. That is, unless you like getting a few cups of ice cold water dumped on your head. I speak from experience on this one. It is a good way to get the heart rate up, though. So there you have it. Sure, you're probably not used to spending $150 on a shower head, but trust me when I tell you, you won't regret it. Along with toilet paper and beer, add shower heads to the list of things that are worth splurging on.

Have used for 5 years, like new!
We bought this in 2018, and it's still like new. Have not had one problem with it and I like it so much we're buying another one for another bathroom. We have very hard well water and the rubber nubs make it easy to keep the water flowing; no sign of wear on the metal. If there is any plastic I can't find it! The price has gone up of course, but it's worth it.
